At the end of the day people will be guided as much, if not more, by the last Tory government when they visit the ballot box. That is the biggest problem for the Conservatives the memories that still linger from 1997 - and perhaps also why the Conservatives were re-elected in 1992 (again 13 years after the opposition had been in power). IMO history will repeat itself.

Arsenal have plenty of attack minded players in their team - so maybe an out and out striker is not as important as other Clubs who maybe rely on more defensive tactics to achieve results.

Good to see there is still some honour in Football Management, as Zola considers his future overnight to whether it is he that is the problem for what is happening on the pitch down at West Ham. "I need to find out what is the problem - and if the problem is me. I will have to think about that overnight. I don't think it's that the players are not trying. The bottom line is to see whether I can help them or not." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/8591141.stm

Let us just agree then Narnia that Spurs will do their usual handbag performance when they play United
-
Of Spurs remaining fixtures I only see them collecting 3 points against Bolton, and 1 at Sunderland. Sunderland v Tottenham Tottenham v Arsenal Tottenham v Chelsea Man Utd v Tottenham Tottenham v Bolton Man City v Tottenham For Liverpool what I have put in brackets Liverpool v Sunderland (3) Birmingham v Liverpool (1) Liverpool v Fulham (3) Liverpool v West Ham (3) Burnley v Liverpool (0) Liverpool v Chelsea (1) Hull v Liverpool (0) Which by my calculations means they will finish on same points as Spurs and it will be decided on goal difference, which based on number of forecast wins and defeats should mean the Reds pip Spurs. EDITED to say I forgot Spurs last game of season away at Burnley, so that makes Spurs by a margin of 3 points!

I agree - maybe it's the other airline staff who should be striking. Would the BA staff have striked if they knew they would lose their travel perks?
-
Looks like Chelsea back in the groove by hitting 7 past Villa - 12 a week! But not a good day for Arsenal and West Ham.. surely Zola will now be relieved of his duties.
-
Rightly or wrongly it seems to me the Union have been out maneuvered by BA. Willie Walsh may have an ego problem but besides that why do BA staff deserve more money than their counterparts at rival airlines (assuming you mean national carriers rather than low budget) as shareholders will always demand bang for the buck.

Perhaps the number of nuclear weapons required to knock out the enemy (putting it mildly) takes into account what percentage of those weapons may fail, in a worst case scenario, due to factors such as missle defence systems, technical problems, people refusing to press button & espionage.

Haha, yes I did give you that fiver Mick - it's become an annual tradition now that someone takes five pound off me when I am wrong.

What has happened to an increase by pennies in favour of the %... that is what seems to have got under the radar

With it being so close to King's it does seem money could be better spent elsewhere - nevertheless it's The impressive landmark in SE22 so hopefully some use is made of it rather than demolition. -
No disrespect to Celtic but I think your best bet Mick Mac is to go for an up and coming Scotsman. Many of those guys in your list would rather spend the season on the TV sofa lecturing us on the art of management than getting their boots dirty north of the border.

Aye 2 yrs back, but big difference is Jah there was no Terry Fenwick, Terry Butcher and Peter Reid to walk past ;-)

Didn't City once also go down on last day of season to Liverpool when after roaring back from 2-0 down someone told them (wrongly) a draw would be good enough so they put the shutters down rather than carrying momentum on to get winner?
-
Oh yes.. and in his weekly Sheffield Gazette 'Orrible Uncle column... "cheer up Blades fans, now I'll make sure those Cockney spivs really do go down"
-
I'd assumed West Ham would be okay this season with likes of Wolves down in the mix but that result last night is a wake up call - but I'm not sure Zola can wake them from their slumber. What odds West Ham poach Avram Grant from Pompey?

Narnia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sounds like Liverpool need to just beat Nottingham > Forest and all will be well for Rafa afterwards! > Obscure comment I know but you're a bright lot. Hmmm well Liverpool do have a player with the [surname] initials MR....

Rafa should be judged by what he is doing with the players he has available - that is the only true measure for a Manager. If given a pot full of money, is it going to change Rafa's fundamental style of 'motivation' and tactics (as recently seen at Stoke, Wigan, Lille, Fulham, Pompey, Sunderland, Reading) - and if not, is not talking to players (as revealed by Albert 'Oliver Twist' Riera) and playing cautious tactics likely to win a PL title? Anna - the Aquilani deal has very little based on appearances, in fact it is capped at ?1m Euro should he reach 140 games. This is the bulk of the deal - http://forums.lfconline.com/showthread.php?t=91854 / http://www.asroma.it/UserFiles/988.pdf: - - 5 million EURO upfront - - 3 million EURO by 4th January 2010 - - 7 million EURO by June 30th 2010 - - 5 million EURO by June 30th 2011. I think the reason Aquilani is not in the team is because it is same role played by Steven Gerrard which IMO is same reason Robbie Keane failed (out of position) although from those 33 games I doubt a full set of fingers would be needed to count how many were for a full 90 minutes (let alone more than 62 minutes).

Well my tip was Man City, but I waved goodbye to my money a line time ago - should have put my money on the Walt Disney brigade. It has surprised me how badly Liverpool have done this season - in so much that all my forecasts have come true.
-
What a Man U fan tipped Liverpool for title!?!

Ok SP, I failed to register it as you using an extreme example, even if it is still bang out of order as a comparison to a lesser unfounded argument, rather than my intial reaction to what looked like a pretty sick allegation against Wenger.
-
I thought LG's post was funny - and then to use that SP as an excuse to accuse Wenger is a disgrace. Bad game yesterday, diving, cheating, snarling - no real complaints about the final score but the behaviour of United supporters just goes from bad to worse. Not sure why they cause so much trouble up an down the land but they are giving the rest of their fanbase a very bad name. The one positive I would say is the take up of the green & gold protest scarves by a large proportion of their support - even if it is the Glazers themselves who are behind this latest example of Yankee ingenuity to fleece fans.
