Arsenal were the best team in Europe 03/04 but they had a pounding fixture list in April 04 which saw exhaustion finally catch up with them as they faced, I think, 6 consecutive matches in April against just Man U (2), Liverpool (1) and Chelsea (3). Barcelona have had some great teams down the years - but I think their best was under Rikyaard and if it hadn't been for Messi/Eto'o injuries I think they'd also have moped up Europe in 07 and 08. Their current team is also magnificent but with Ronaldinho in his pomp I think Rikyaard's side have the slight edge. Having said all that I've not watched much La Liga this season... I've gone over to the dark side and started watching the NFL ::o

Danny Murphy sticks the knife into the Rafa regime - http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11669_5866564,00.html "I keep in touch with a lot of people close to the club and many think the time has come for a new manager" ... now bear in mind the only people from his time still at the Club are the Captain and Vice-Captain, Gerrard and Carragher, that pretty much says he has lost the dressing room.

Disappointing result yesterday for Liverpool as they played well enough considering the line up and tactics imposed on them by Rafa Benitez. I see Ian St John has slammed Rafa's tactics as boring and diabolical - and quite frankly it is impossible to disagree. As each day passes the morale, loyalty and enthusiasm of key players like Pepe Reina, Mascherano, Torres and Gerrard will be beaten out of them so badly they will move closer to the exit door regardless of who is the next Manager. It happened under Houllier with Owen and Gerrard and history has a nasty habit of repeating itself.

breaking news... hahaha... that's been flying around since the last speculation was exhausted... don't believe everything you read in the papers atila The entire team looks like it needs a new challenge.. and the best way to do that is not by selling scapegoats. I hope Babel holds his ground and not lets himself be bullied out of the Club (Rafa has reacted to Torres and Gerrard being injured to dropping Babel from squad tomorrow) the way Keane was dumped 12 months ago.

Haha. minimum as in a 1 goal win.
-
Villa are a bit up and down at the moment and I think that will continue - they had a good result midweek so now I expect the come down as West Ham put up a bit of resistance and have a go. Minimum of 1 point for the Hammers. Without the out of form G&T I am expecting Liverpool to play as a team tomorrow - likes of Ngog, Lucas and Babel to be the heroes. Minimum 3 points.

Well Jah we face you next Wednesday - and with Torres, Gerrard and Yossi all injured maybe Reds cancelling game on Sunday has backfired.

Yup United having to issue a Junk Bond suggests they are on the brink of financial meltdown

I am afraid this slump is terminal - I've seen it before with Souness, Evans and Houllier.. there is never a recovery. Before feeling sorry for Rafa he has had 6 seasons - he swung the axe on Keane after 6 months, Craig Bellamy 12 months... Rafa has been ruthless and if he were the Owner he'd have long ago sacked any Manager with his record. Rafa may still be king of the tactics but you don't need tactics when you play 90% of your games... you need passion & motivation more than anything against likes of Reading and Pompey. If people want to blame the players they need to look at the person who brought them to the Club - and also ask why other Clubs do not have this same problem. As for money it is only Chelsea (maybe Man U) who have splashed more cash than Liverpool over the last 6 seasons.
-
We were shocking even before the injuries - team was still loaded with internationals. Negative tactics will always beat the enthusiasm out of the best players.

If it weren't for the Yanks being in charge Rafa would probably be gone after tonight's game but as they know jack shit about football they'll probably give him at least til end of season. One title challenge in 6 seasons is not good enough for any European giant. Too many flaws in his make-up whether it be lack of passion/man-management (see the way Liverpool players celebrated going 1-0 up without even a handshake) or cautious tactics he has simply run out of excuses. Even the most blinded fan is now texting me demanding his head on a plate - adios Rafa bring back GH!! (that last bit is a joke)

Part of Anfield folklore the Liverpool v Brugges 1976 UEFA Cup Final (you'll have to excuse the pre-match bitterness from Best and Marsh)..

Well he had a dry run with Alan Brady last year so am sure he has learnt from his mistake on that occasion.. I suspect he is lurking under a new IP address building up some rep on other channels such as Buy & Sell before returning as a wiser more patient member of the bow wow family

Yes you did say you were a Spurs fan.. :))

Fergie reckoned United played a great game today. Impressed with Brum's second half performance against United - they were a little unlucky not to have taken all 3 points. I think they'll finish the season jockeying for 6th, 7th and 8th with the Villa and Spurs.

East Dulwich underground station
matthew123 replied to jack bauer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Having watched The Great Escape I'm sure if we all get a shovel and meet at Goose Green after the great thaw we can start digging for the land of milk and honey of the Underground.. then it'll just be a case of laying the track. QED. Joking aside (yes i was joking) it would be great for transport to have the Victoria Line within reach (20 min walk from Goose Green to Herne Hill or a few mins out on the 37 bus). -
Rosicky injury time equalizer

Great goal by Pinaar to put Everton 2-1 up - raced from half way line before little dink over keeper
