  1. Maybe on some routes it is preferable to have a bendy bus over a DD - it certainly makes a quicker journey travelling from London Bridge to Liverpool St than a DD during the rush hour.
  2. Hey I've just dug up the interesting bit - who cares if he wraps it up with some praise for Lampard ;-) Bottom line is, Fletcher, who was given the run around by 18 year Aaron Ramsey last weekend, is talking as if he is a match for elite midfielders. I've got nothing against Fletcher but hell he'd not even get in the Everton or Spurs midfield! Some might say it's ambitious talk, I say his head is in the clouds!
  3. After being given the run around by the Welsh midfield kids in Cardiff last week when Wales thumped Scotland 3-0, Darren Fletcher (of Manchester United fame) has given the kind of interview that suggests he believes all the groundless hype about himself: - "Right, I?m going to see how good you really are. Fabregas, Lampard and Gerrard, I?m going to get against you and see how you like it. And when you?ve not got the ball I?m still going to get about you and see how you like it. I?m going to ask you: ?Do you fancy it? Do you like getting kicked? Do you like the fact that I am going to be at you for the whole 90 minutes?' As soon as you get the ball I am going to be in your face. You are not going to like it one bit. And when we have the ball I am going to run you into the corner and you?re going to follow me. Are you ready for that? Because that?s what?s going to happen.? http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/30217/Fletcher_Lampard_is_the_one_who_stands_out_in_the_Premiership.aspx
  4. Albert Riera and Yossi Benayoun are both declared fit for tomorrow, only 12 days after damaging their hamstrings in the Brum draw, following radical horse placenta treatment in Belgrade this week. It sounds like horse sh1t to me but Liverpool really need to win tomorrow!
  5. This is the video of Roy Keane's reaction to the Handball - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8370497.stm
  6. I think France have chance of progressing to latter stages but it's difficult to see past Spain or Brazil actually winning this World Cup. As a neutral I want World Cup as competitive as possible rather than countries like New Zealand who are just there as passengers - and that is the real shame Ireland had to play off against France and not Bahrain!
  7. Roy Keane breaks ranks - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8370327.stm I didn't even know the Irish rode horses til I read this thread
  8. Shame on you panama, shame on you - We should be thinking more about handing out warm gloves and scarves to these poor kids who are cycling around in the cold every night trying to make enough money to pay for their next pizza. Tut tut for calling them scum - you got to realise in many peoples eyes they're modern day Dick Turpins who will form the next dynasty of statues of south London shopping centres.
  9. Go to In Control Panel>Display>Settings tab>Advanced button Look at the different tabs for one that has an additional 'control panel' and open/start it. On my PC I have a GeForce 7900 GS tab so when I open the new Control Panel I have a Display option where I can then rotate. I guess you'll have something similar to look for then configure.
  10. turn the monitor upside down
  11. Old Whiskey nose touchline ban will not start this weekend at home to Everton, instead one of the two games will take place in the Carling Cup, the other at Pompey... funny how the whole case didn't come up til 6 weeks after the initial charge... now we know why, to minimise impact! The media quite rightly have a pop at Henry but the sycophantic nature that they lap up Fergie's rants as wisdom lose them any credibility for taking the high ground over last night!
  12. LOL about David Ginola jumping on his high horse - if ever there was a cheating Frenchman it was Ginola, he did things that would have made even Robert Pires blush
  13. If UEFA had stood their ground back in August with their 2 game ban for Eduardo - instead of back tracking to effectively create a cheats charter maybe we'd not have had the Anelka dive or Henry handball last night. Football missed a great opportunity then for a line to be drawn in the sand.
  14. Less risk of heart disease according to the Spanish - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8367141.stm
  15. Yeah Sean, I'd not closed an iframe properly on the Irish thread, but since fixed RD - Gerrard in Anderson's back pocket... like Torres used to be Ferdinand's pup i suppose.. Atila - Liverpool have got a lot of physically weak players ummm but what that has that got to with a clear observation about Arsenal... either you recognise that or you can carry on trying to convince yourself Keef - In regard Fowler putting his hands up, Liverpool were already leading 1-0 in that game so maybe a little different All - Players push / shove in the box all the time to gain an advantage - there are countless occasions where players try to control the ball with their hands to aid a goal. I think the Ngog incident a few weeks back was a lot more disgraceful than last night. You can bet your bottom dollar if it had been an Irishman that had done that last night there'd a be a petition to the Pope to have him made a Saint! ;-)
  16. Instinctively Henry has controlled the ball with his hand.. but it would have been very brave (and probably end his international career) of Henry to race over to Ref, as the crowd go wild and his team mates celebrate their passage to South Africa, to suddenly slap his hand and yell, 'Monsieur Referee, je suis un conman!"
  17. I think if it had been Diarra that handled the ball there may well have been a punch up at the final whistle. There is a lot of hyprocracy in football and especially the media with their racially motivated headlines, e.g. Hand of Frog - but the Daily Mirror "French Nickers" caption is at best below the belt!
  18. Is he really that highly rated at Old Trafford or is it just a nice little jingle in between your anti-Liverpool songs ;-)
  19. What has killing a woman because of adultry got to do with passing the death penalty on the murdering Saudi paedophile... oh yes it's all black and white isn't it, get one thing wrong and everything else must be wrong with their entire legal system blah blah blah Tell me an alternative punishment for this particular man found guilty, taking into account they apparently kill women for adultry, what they gonna do to the 'laughing / mentally ill' Saudi down in the prison / torture chamber. Come on Judge Mockney what is your sentence? As for 'apologists', that goes back to it's all about Revenge, Revenge, Revenge rather than Justice.. If the death penalty does not act as a deterrent then what the hell other sentences are going to act as a deterrent for other crimes. With that simple logic what is the point of even sending people to prison if it's only purpose is Revenge? Surely no sentence should be given if it is driven by just Revenge.. thus we are driven towards no prison and without prison what is going to hold more people back from breaking the law and committing serious crime (yoga?)... this breakdown would lead to a lawless society. Now how long do you think a lawless society would survive... ultimately to avoid further disintergration order would have to be restored and it wouldn't be by just switching back on the old laws it would require stiffer measures than today. BTW, I don't read the Daily Mail to know society is falling apart I do that by browsing the EDF... and apologies for the rant but at least I put it through the spell checker ;)
  20. ..and did Gallas put it in with his upper arm?
  21. This is the basis I have for my remark, 11 current injuries in the first team squad - http://www.arsenal.com/news/injury-news - plus injuries this season to Almunia, Rosisky & Nasri. That suggests physical weakness.
  22. Great to see Robbie Keane showing his class there with a fine finish. Impressed with the Irish start taking the game to France - but that last 10 minutes felt the French were slowly grinding their engine into gear upfront.
  23. I think the watering down through history of capital punishment is more to do with a maturing civilisation than because of it's positive or negative effect on statistical crime waves... there is no doubt that much of the sentencing was immoral, for instance you could also be hanged for being 'in the company of gypsies for a month'. I keep hearing this word Revenge, and it suggests punishment is no deterrent. If we are to believe that theory then we may be driven so far to the left by apologists that even more of society becoming lawless - which eventually risks a bounce back towards darker days. There needs to be a balance - a punishment needs to fit the crime and also act as a deterrent. In this Saudi Arabian case they seem to have it right - otherwise what is the alternative as a fair punishment and deterrent?
  24. Eurosport are showing the grudge match between Algeria and Egypt What a bunch of jokers - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/international/worldcup/6592605/Algeria-versus-Egypt-World-Cup-play-off-is-the-mother-of-all-matches.html
