  1. It has been revealed that Big Sam's mate Phil Brown actually lied about talking a woman down from a bridge who was going to commit suicide last week. His players said no such incident took place. Makes you wonder about his credibility... if it was ever in doubt...
  2. Liverpool tickets for Emirates clash only a tenner! brilliant! Jeeez Mick it sounds like you don't like people arguing back ;-)
  3. Cristiano Ronaldo .. although I'd have to be very disciplined not letting my hand curl up at last moment :))
  4. 568
  5. You are right SP .. on this occasion ;-)
  6. Only people you can really trust in Football are those that let you through the turnstile when you show your ticket ;-)

I think he is saying if people think the team has gone backwards it's not his fault - personally I think they're all full of shit and will say what suits them and that includes every club whether Owner, Manager or Players.
  8. Here is the full transcript from the George Gillett interview. It makes very different reading from what the media has effectively taken out of context this morning (in fact Gillett calls Rafa a genius). The media in this country pick and choose their quotes and spin it what ever which way will suit them but I suspect by tomorrow (now the full transcript is in the Times) the headlines will be quite different and perhaps pointed at United. Gillett claims United have pocketed the Ronaldo money to pay down their debt, Arsenal are unable to spend more than Liverpool for legal reasons and Abramovich is in trouble. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/liverpool/article6862370.ece?&EMC-Bltn=BBIDJB
  9. I wonder if the Boho will accept in December the 'Buy 1 Get 1 Free' cocktail flyer they've put through my door as it has no expiry date.. as it could be the ticket for my attendance ;-)
  10. Pompey now in the hands of a Saudi property investor. Next 5 PL games are Spurs (h), Hull (a), Wigan (h), Blackburn (a), Stoke (a). Win 3 of those games and things will be looking good. I don't think many points will be needed to stay up this season. Before people seriously consider West Ham going down I think you just need to realise this league also contains Brum, Hull & Wolves.

Yikes does someone tune into that!?
  12. Exactly I think you have to mix it - no point having another dummy to sit alongside Andy Gray but would be a good balance to have someone like Jimmy Armfield. Nasser is a great cricket commentator but not so sure about Atherton, think he is the equivalent of counting sheep
  13. Hahaha - do you seriously think Atila and SP will have their hands free for the Mic if they are in the same booth together!
  14. Mick I think most people remember Chris Sutton for only scoring 2 goals at Chelsea after he was signed for ?10m rather than his exploits up north. Great record at Celtic but as we saw yesterday with Kenny Miller out sprinting a pair of Scottish defenders for his first goal I think it's his record at Norwich and Blackburn that marks him out as a good player.
  15. In this country, with the exception of cricket, all live televised sports tend to have 1 commentator and 1 analyst, e.g. Eddie Butler and Jonathan Davies for Rugby, Martin Tyler and Andy Gray in Football. Now I think that's fine but could it be improved to maybe a 3 man team; when ever I watch American or Australian sports broadcasts they tend have a 3 man team who bring a lot more energy to proceedings with banter and broader views and is generally more entertaining especially when it's a dull match. Is that the way our Football and Rugby commentaries should go?
  16. Lawrenson used to be a lot more critical of Liverpool, but according to my sources he told them it was to safeguard his job. So many ex-Liverpool in the national media but it's probably only Thommo on Sky who is really biased. Alan Green may have his critics, but there are also a lot of commentators who dig the knife into Liverpool at every turn such as Mark Bright, Craig Burley and Gary Linekar. I know they're all no marks but still not happy when it's so often baseless!
  17. Souness claimed on Sky he never permed his hair - he said unlike his team mates his was natural..
  18. Liverpool played well within a cautious framework, thought Chelsea were there for the taking. Looking at the stats since pre-season started, Liverpool have now lost 7 times. Out of the 9 wins our biggest scalp has been beating West Ham. The formation / players Liverpool finished with yesterday should be the kind to start games plus Agger replacing Carragher.
  19. Maybe Ferguson is still holding a grudge against Wiley for the 4 league games he took charge of United last season when United lost 3 and drew 1. Maybe if Fergie hadn't hugged Wiley in front of the cameras at the Man City game then Wiley would indeed have played another 30 seconds due to the late goal 'celebration' but with that in mind he was always going to blow on exactly 4 minutes.
  20. Only saw last 15 minutes but thought United looked a bit flat and Ferguson seemed less animated than usual - maybe just a bad day at the office. In a way not too disappointed with the late equalizer as United usually go on a long winning streak after a defeat. Maybe Fergie now regrets resting Rio and Giggs.
  21. Maybe he balances out the arse licking from all the other commentators, but I agree in general he is a whinger.
  22. Ferguson claimed Owen's long term injuries have been caused by playing too much as a Liverpool youngster - so why did Sherlock Ferguson play him the other night after missing previous day's training because of injury?... answers on a postcard Defoe out, Cech out... my FFL team might struggle this w/e. damn!
