  1. The fan should be thankful he'd didn't do it in the West Midlands as I believe there it would be a six month prison sentence or at least that is what happened few years ago when a Brum fan encroached into the six yard box and laughed in face of Villa goalkeeper after a howler (think it was the goal from the throw-in which went through his legs)!
  2. red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Leeds v Liverpool, don't think 'pool can field too > much of a weakened team, Leeds and their fans will > be up for it... I think he is likely to put out an unmotivated squad side - so not expecting much tonight. Be better off putting out a young team that are hungry - not a team composed of washed up bums like Dossena, Deggan and Voronin. As for Bellamy well it works as a nice smokescreen from the fact a Manc has charged onto the pitch and another one has thrown a coin which has floored a City player - this hot on the heels of the Mancs accusing Wenger of being a paedophile. They're a pretty pathetic lot at Old Trafford - more focus should be made as to why twice as many of their fans were arrested at PL away games last season than any other Club (next being Liverpool who also fill their allocation every game). Bellamy is an easy target but heaven forbid anyone who suggests the real rotten apples in football are wearing the United crest.
  3. There aren't many Manager's who show the same grace as Sir Bobby Robson in the pressue cooker of football management. But back on topic (erm) United scored a late winner against Villa back in the Spring on 92 minutes - by the time the celebrations were over another 2 minutes had passed and it was time to blow the final whistle. I thought celebrations were part of the game - otherwise why not stop the clock when Rory Delap is drying the ball with a towel.. Keef - I suppose you're logic about 1 second over is fair enough but would it apply to giving a goal even if the ball was just short of crossing the line by say a 1mm.. far fetched as it may seem a line has to be drawn and that goal on Sunday was out of bounds! You can't imagine this happening in the NFL or NBA can you! Totally different sports I know... anyway point is when City cleared the ball for the final time the Ref should have blown his whistle before it reached Giggs 35 yards out. phew.. rant over
  4. LOL, "Citeh's over celebration" ... how dare they!
  5. Based on the assumption that Big 4 teams are usually winning their matches at home before the 90 minutes are up, that statistic therefore suggests that when the Mancs are winning a game the Ref will blow earlier than they would at their rivals. There maybe a correlation here with Ferguson jabbing his mickey mouse watch and mouthing foul language at fourth official. What I would like to know is how much time on average is given over the initial allotted injury time when Big 4 clubs are still chasing a goal - as the Mancs goal on Sunday against Man City exceeded original injury time by 25%.

If you're not getting any big Clubs to Referee it's probably the path to demotion and subsequent salary reductions."
  7. They say if Ferguson makes enough noise about a Referee's performance he'll not get many games officiating at Old Trafford. Is it this worry of missing out on big games by upsetting the big boys that drives Refs to usually give them the benefit of the doubt. If you're not getting any big Clubs to Referee it's probably the path to demotion and subsequent salary reductions. Now that we have full time Referees are they willing to risk salaries that are maybe their only income? I think it maybe financial reasons rather than being United supporters that makes likes of Howard Webb, Martin Atkinson, Steve Bennett perform as they do when it is Ferguson's United who are playing. What I find strange is that Managers rate the officials performances after each match as it can only be assumed this influences the careers of Referees.
  8. Hmmm saw that yesterday - what would that f**king hyprocrite Ferguson have said if that had been Rafa!!
  9. The way United played in the 2nd half was an almost complete reversal of first half when it all went through Rooney. Just checked my FFL score for w/e and amassed an incredible 80 points to push me into 3rd spot! wow! so happy! Drogba, Cech, Torres & Kuyt are all legends. LOL :))
  10. Not heard anything from the resident Mancs on the EDF - perhaps they refuse to recognise that a Scouser bailed them out and thus in their books it was actually a demoralising 3-3 draw! :)) We all know Owen is not the team player of his younger days and in open play it's like being a man short but his goal poaching abilities are not to be sniffed at, especially at international level. Capello has to ask himself, World Cup semi final with seconds on the clock and needing a goal what does Carlton Cole or Emile Heskey do with the ball?
  11. I agree with you Mick. Howard Webb made a number of blunders today. Firstly not giving the pen when Carvalho brought down Keane. Secondly stopping advantage from being played just as it looked like Lampard had broken through for 1 on 1 with keeper, and subsequently not spotting the deliberate handball in the wall from the resulting Chelsea free kick. To cap it all Steve Bennett was the 4th offical (after I'd been misled to believe he'd now taken up a career in cricket) - another official who is not fit to Referee a Football match. I just hope we're not talking about Premiership medals again for Referees come what May! For me top Referees are: - Alan Wiley Mark Clattenburg The worst in the history of PL would be: - Philip Don Andy D'urso Mike Riley Martin Bodenham Steve Bennett Uriah Rennie Rob Styles
  12. I suspect Walter Wadsworth would have dropped the Manc on his knee - but to answer the question I think Bellamy probably just wanted to give him a volley of foul and abusive language, is that so bad when you've just seen the guy who was probably your idol as a Liverpool fan scoring the winner for the enemy?
  13. It was interesting that City responded very positively each time they went a goal behind. I guess their lack of leadership played a big part in being dominated for most of that second half. Although it was a bitter pill to swallow seeing that trademark Owen winner I do wonder what Voronin or Ngog would have done with the ball for Liverpool - what ever Rafa says about not taking Owen back to Anfield he looked a gift horse in the mouth.
  14. Anna it looks like to me the dirty Manc has spat at Bellamy - I don't think you can castigate Bellamy for pushing him away. EDIT: Good point Declan that would certainly be good for Football.
  15. Maybe if the Ref had applied the same logic for the original 90 minutes as he did for having additional injury time minutes we'd have had another 30 minutes of exciting football. What it comes down to Declan is that the Ref does want he wants regardless of rule book as demonstrated by Howard Webb in the United v Spurs match last season. Bottom line is United were by far the better team and needed a little favour from the Ref to finish the job.
  16. Excellent second half display by United, best team performance from them for many a year. Ryan Giggs was exceptional - at the centre of everything, like the Giggs of 10 years ago. Two cracking goals from Bellamy but then 2 minutes over the allotted 4 minutes of injury time up popped Owen with a vintage strike. Great game shame about the result.
  17. Impressive first half display by City - they look the real deal. This could be the making of City if they can carry off a result. They've outplayed United. Apart from some Rooney magic I think it could be a struggle for United to wrestle back control of the match. United need to make changes quickly, which I think they will, perhaps Valencia and Nani for Giggs and JS Park who have both been fairly anonymous.
  18. I'll not be watching it again either Mick - do you think ITV would have rigged the vote to keep Hingis?
  19. Very surprised Martina Hingis got booted off as from what I saw tonight she was one of the best contestants. No way was Oxo woman or Big Joe as good as Hingis. I think the show has lost some credibility with that result... although not being a regular viewer maybe this is part of the game.
  20. Watched it on telly and it was good football by Liverpool, easily their best performance so far this season. The Reds were quite composed and stroked the ball about to good effect. I thought West Ham were very poor defensively especially that guy at left back. Jamie Carragher had a stinker for Liverpool - and on this showing needs to start looking over his shoulder as Agger will soon be fit. Thought Ryan Babel impressed on the right flank, and it was good to see him whip in the cross for the winner. He clearly has a lot of talent and if he is allowed to build his confidence might be a crucial player this season in title hunt. It's Everton who are the School of Science.. (a la Keef's preference of Everton vs West Ham than CL)
  21. I think it depends who you talk to but from my experience there is a real hatred for United amongst those on Merseyside that runs far deeper than with any other Club - Everton is a more traditional rivalry mirrored between Clubs across the country. As for Ferguson's comments about who is United's local rivals I think it was made at the wrong time as all it does is belittle Manchester City. Fine go and say Liverpool are your chief rivals when you face Liverpool but why on the eve of the Manchester derby come out with those remarks? The only purpose it serves is to wind up the opposition. Ferguson was quick to point out the arrogance of Benetiz in his throw away line about Everton being a small club but I think this last few months Ferguson has gone way beyond that level with his own stream of put downs directed at Man City. Harry Redknapp is another one who treats fans like idiots with his recent rants about Arsenal supporters. The likes of Harry Redknapp should take a long look at their own behaviour before they castigate the people who pay their wages.
  22. Came across this on the web today, when Liverpool defender Walter Wadsworth snapped in a game versus Sheffield United in 1923 at Bramall Lane he said afterwards. "Let me state here and now that I hit a spectator, I admit it. I think I was justified because a spectator called me something that I will allow no man to call me. It must not be imagined that because a spectator has paid his bob that he can, willy-nilly, help himself in the epithets department. "He has no justification for something worse than swearing at the players. He has not the right to shout vile words at them. I hope the action I took will lead to the offenders realising that they cannot lean over the railings and offer vile insults at footballers. "After the match I begged the people of Sheffield to bring the man to the dressing room to see me. No-one came, I am sorry to say, and I am more than sorry that the man has not gone to court, for then the facts would be published and it would be seen by all in the game of football how some spectators carry on." EDIT: Apparently he hit the wrong man.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2288590/Letters-to-the-Sports-Editor.html
  23. Perhaps the helicopter could land directly outside King's A&E on Denmark Hill itself - the road seems wide enough. I think the traffic measures needed could be implemented to allow this to happen. It might mean the difference between life and death cutting out the ambulance playing piggy in the middle.

  25. Celtic need to join the PL simple as that - and have a U.K. national team, as until then Scottish football will continue to be humiliated. A once proud heritage of football broken down by advancement in the rest of the world. At the moment Celtic will struggle in the Championship never mind Europa League. But you have to take your hat off to their supporters as Celtic and Rangers both fill their stadiums when up against teams like Dundee and Falkirk who would struggle to even fill a stand in England, never mind stadium, even on free tickets.
