how about #se22 - not that i have ever used, or intend to use, twitter

Atila you do make me laugh with your paranoid responses but I made no such claim.. I was responding to your apparent earlier rejection of Arsenal not being too physically weak. The only person, as far as I'm aware, to predict Arsenal as Champions has been Mick.

I watched the first 30 seconds and it is pretty sick, with the diners cackling with laughter as they prode the wriggly creature who is fighting for its last breath covered in sauce - this mode of eating seems more to do with cheap entertainment and humiliation than perhaps it being a cultural delicacy. It's not a case of imposing our views but we are right to express disgust at this particular practice.

Haha very funny - hopefully the 2nd leg tonight will be as entertaining -

Saudi Arabia to behead and crucify paedophile...

>> People will often go to extraordinary lengths to claw just one more minute of life. Yes Mockney, and others will go to Switzerland to end it such is life. Each individual is different but it strikes me that capital punishment is not a black and white issue, each case is different. As I said up top the Family may prefer to put this man in a torture chamber rather than giving him a quick exit. >> the death penalty for petty theft (as we did a mere 250 years ago - and no it wasn't much of a deterrent was it) On what basis do you make that judgement - people react to the law, and how ever diabolical the punishment for stealing the proverbial apple it would have deterred more ppl than if it had been a prison sentence. BTW, I am not condoning that punishment. -
He'd never won it before (or the Football Writers for that matter) so it was simply reward for a long career - if there'd be an ounce of credibility in the award you can bet your bottom dollar Fergie would have come out all guns blazing at the critics. Fergie's silence spoke volumes.

Saudi Arabia to behead and crucify paedophile...

If this 22 yr old guy was not given the death penalty - he might spend the next 60 or 70 years locked up in a Saudi prison subjected to regular beatings. Is the latter really more humane than the execution? -
I am not comparing Dossena with Giggs as players, just how a few headlines can give the wrong impression. Okay tell me this was Giggs performances last season in his top 10 seasons, and if so what number would you rate it?
-
SP - On the face of Andrea Dossena had a blinding season for Liverpool scoring goals in both the 4-0 romp over Real Madrid and then with a magical chip to make it 4-1 against the Mancs at Old Trafford. But we all know behind the headlines he was below par... ditto Giggs. Ah Anderson of Man U.. for some reason I mis-read it as Darren Anderton and thought t-shirt was reference to number of hamstring injuries acquired over course of career by those players
-
12 starts come on... I'm not sure how Giggs won it - I suspect there was a campaign behind the scenes to drum up support. Giggs deserved better than that - I mean he has had a great career but last season was probably one of his worst. I think a lifetime award would have been fantastic (he is about the only United player universally liked by other supporters) and maybe that will still happen but to be awarded player of the year just makes the whole thing lose credibility.

Ha, very good Here is one from George Bush and Condeleeza Rice in the Oval office back in 2005 http://this.org/blog/2005/10/19/hu-is-the-new-leader-of-china/ George Bush: "Condoleeza! Nice to see you. What's happening?" Condoleeza Rice: "Sir, I have the report here about the new leader of China." George: "Great. Lay it on me." Condoleeza: "'Hu' is the new leader of China." George: "That's what I want to know." Condoleeza: "That's what I'm telling you." George: "That's what I'm asking you. Who is the new leader of China?" Condoleeza: "Yes." George: "I mean the fellow's name." Condoleeza: "Hu." George: "The guy in China." Condoleeza: "Hu." George: "The new leader of China." Condoleeza: "Hu." George: "The Chinaman!" Condoleeza: "Hu is leading China." George: "Now whaddya' asking me for?" Condoleeza: "I'm telling you Hu is leading China." George: "Well, I'm asking you. Who is leading China?" Condoleeza: "That's the man's name." George: "That's whose name?" Condoleeza: "Yes." George: "Will you or will you not tell me the name of the new leader of China?" Condoleeza: "Yes, sir." George: "Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China? I thought he was in the Middle East." Condoleeza: "That's correct." George: "Then who is in China?" Condoleeza: "Yes, sir." George: "Yassir is in China?" Condoleeza: "No, sir." George: "Then who is?" Condoleeza: "Yes, sir." George: "Yassir?" Condoleeza: "No, sir." George: "Look, Condoleeza. I need to know the name of the new leader of China. Get me the Secretary General of the U.N. on the phone." Condoleeza: "Kofi?" George: "No, thanks." Condoleeza: "You want Kofi?" George: "No." Condoleeza: "You don't want Kofi." George: "No. But now that you mention it, I could use a glass of milk. And then get me the U.N." Condoleeza: "Yes, sir." George: "Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N." Condoleeza: "Kofi?" George: "Milk! Will you please make the call?" Condoleeza: "And call who?" George: "Who is the guy at the U.N?" Condoleeza: "Hu is the guy in China." George: "Will you stay out of China?!" Condoleeza: "Yes, sir." George: "And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the guy at the U.N." Condoleeza: "Kofi." George: "All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone."

It's a shame for Giggs that he won it on sentiment, but I suppose in years to come people will assume it was on merit ... and when some future footballers disgrace the game we'll harp back to these times as when players were honest and had credibility..
-
Giggs started 12 league games for United last season, so was not good enough to start for his own team but was voted PFA player of the year.. hmmmm Give him a life time achievement award but it's embarrasing for Giggs winning player of the year when he clearly was not... he probably uses it as a doorstop ;-)

Saudi Arabia to behead and crucify paedophile...

Texas is having doubts on death row because there are doubts about convictions - that is completely different to whether it is warranted or not for particular crimes (i.e. the purpose of this thread). -

Well Sean if it simply a case of being better than them how would you deal with that European guy who locked up a young girl all those years and provided her with a tiny room, wash basin, bunk bed, hot meals, small TV, limited conversation etc (i.e. kept her a prisoner)... -

Assuming the young man is as innocent as the children, and the offenders knew and also believed the young man was innocent, and based on the fact it may act as a deterrent - then Yes the applicable capital punishment for that country should be executed. -
All the emotion of a World Cup qualifier. Egypt needed to beat Algeria 2-0 on Saturday to force a playoff this Wednesday in Sudan (v Algeria) or they'd miss World Cup. So Youtube picks it up at 1-0 to Egypt and 4 minutes into injury time (recommend sound)..

I'm not sure it really is revenge Keef - I'd have thought the devastated family, if they were after pure revenge, would have preferred to keep this particular man alive for eternity in a torture chamber. -
Remember what a joke it was Ryan Giggs winning the PFA Player of the Year award for 2009 - well he can't even win Welsh Footballer of the Year for 2009, knocked into second played by Wales and Swansea defender Ashley Williams. Never heard of him? Well that tells you a lot about how Giggs won the PFA award doesn't..

I have to agree with Atila on this one - France got stronger as the tournament progressed and were worthy winners. Wondering what happened at the end of the Ireland v France qualifier on Saturday, all has been revealed. According to the Daily Mail, Diarra said to Ireland's Keith Andrews at the final whistle, '**** off, Irish p****. You are out.' So having taken the moral high ground and use it as a legitimate tool to motivate themselves in Paris, Keith Andrews has now responded in the cold light of day by saying, 'It was a disrespectful comment which typifies them' ... which effectively also now does a team talk for the French! Unbelievable! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1228111/Republic-Ireland-0-France-1-Irish-rage-Lassana-Diarra-slur-head-make-break-Paris-World-Cup-play-match.html

1982 - England went into this World Cup singing, 'This time more than any other time blah blah blah' but they can be thankful they kept their dignity having not had to play Brazil. 1986 - I think this was a poor England team who only progressed because of Linekar. 1990 - England played one great game and they lost it. Let us not forget they stuggled against Egypt, Ireland, Belgium and Cameroon and were a little fortunate to reach the semi finals. I think a lot of it also comes down to the location of the World Cup - make no bones about it England suffer more than others when it's hot and humid. With it being winter in South Africa maybe it'll help England.
