The lowest risk approach IMO is identify what are the best 12 months savings accounts / bonds at the Co-op and Nationwide (with whom you currently bank), then have you money transferred directly into their best products so you do not miss out on 3 or 4 days interest which would happen moving your money to a new firm.

I don't know why who I support has any relevance, as in regard Manchester United all I have said is what I'd expect from any fair minded United fan. Now I know Sandperson can't be openly negative on this forum against his once proud club but I am sure down at Fans HQ in Surrey he will agree with my every word ;-)

Shame for Ince but at least he has a track record behind him at Macclesfield and MK Dons, so should be back in management sooner rather than later. Unlike Roy Keane of course who had no track record and so decided to bail out from Sunderland before his reputation was dented beyond repair. I just hope Ince does not sink to the same level as likes of Big Sam and pimps himself around ITV, Setanta and Sky until some dopey Chairman thinks he talks a good game.

Yes it's on days like that with Ferguson blaming the colour of the shirts for their SIX goal pounding rather than defensive problems (they'd conceded FIVE at Newcastle the previous week) that it calls into question anything he says as being creditable.

Estate Agent commission charge (in East Dulwich)
matthew123 replied to kongjabar's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think most greedy estate agents used to charge 2% (or more) for a sale - but with dog eat dog I reckon you could play hardball and get them down to 0.5% in an environment where any business is very welcome. But make sure the commission is agreed on the Sale price NOT the original asking price! -
Are there any nice single Women in East D?

As well as asking for ID, I ask them to provide the name of the person in which the electricity / gas is charged. People can easily print off bogus ID cards so if they cannot provide that other information then time to send them packing. -
>> "Obvioulsy Tevez is a liar and can't speak English, which seems to be important to you for some reason." In this context it is very important he cannot speak English, as how could the FA rely on any Tevez testimony as to what was said in English by Chelsea groundsman. Of course Rio was not being malicious, and neither was it malicious when he tried lunging at the Referee on final whistle. Rio just lost control of his temper. Suppose JT and Drogba had not restrained Rio do you think a quick apology and sending Ref a crate of lagers would have sufficed to escape punishment? Of course not and neither does kicking steward even if he meant to kick dressing room door off its hinges which in itself would bring a misconduct charge. Evra is a role model and just fining him the equivalent of half a week's wages is nothing. Robbie Fowler was once given a 4 game ban for directing his rear end at Graeme Le Saux at a free kick. You can argue about that if you want but at end of day the FA have not persecuted United, all they have done is hand out justice.

Sandperson Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Blimey, you seem to know more about this than > anyone I have read or heard talking about the > incident. United have to provide the proof and they failed. > The ban is a disgrace. The fine > maybe ok, but to lose a player for four games for > an incident after the end of the game where a > member of the opposition staff is obviously > culpable is a terrible decision The normal FA > response....total BS as is your post :)) How is the groundsman "obviously culpable"? Do you mean calm and collected Patrice Evra, who has been booked more times this season than the snarling Wayne Rooney or the cheating Ronaldo, was so provoked out of his usual mild mannered self that the groundsman is obviously guilty of some heinous, yet unproven, crime? Obviously there are two sides to the story. Chelsea claim the ground staff, after United refused to warm down on a different part of the pitch, had said ?you?re just a f***ing idiot?. Whereas star witness Carlos Tevez, recently seen speaking through an interpreter on Sky Sports (whilst team mate Mascherano managed to speak English), backed up the race card claim that it was actually, ?you?re just a f***ing immigrant?. I don't know which side of the story is more creditable... "The ban is a disgrace" - no it is not a disgrace. How can you justify an athlete punching an overweight groundsman in the head? At end of same match Rio Ferdinand kicked a woman steward before returning to the dressing room - that is the disgrace, Rio not getting a ban. As for the fine is "maybe ok" that just confirms that you know he was guilty. I really don't know what your argument is, although I sense you think United should be treated differently to other clubs?

I see Alex Ferguson has come out with more hostile nonsense, this time saying it's a terrible black mark against the FA for banning Evra for 4 matches after he'd punched an overweight groundsman in the head back in May at Stamford Bridge. Let us not forget that to try and get themselves off the hook United's propaganda machine at first suggested the groundsman had racially abused Evra, that in itself is below the belt and should have been dealt with by the FA. I can't think of a bigger hypocrite in this country than Alex Ferguson, he'd make a politician blush.

I was chatting to a beggar once at Bank, he was sitting on the floor collecting coins, about the football. He then revealed he had a season ticket at Crystal Palace.

Sainsbury's is sooooo expensive. However, I went into Somerfield the other night, and they were discounting 10 can boxes of Boddingtons beer to ?1.29.... Yup 12p a can!! Not that I drink the stuff but that is a supermarket responding to the credit crunch! -
I'm sure these terrorists will hide behind some deluded ideology. Hopefully they capture some of these criminals alive.

What gets me is that "a passenger representative group supported" these changes! No doubt the change was packaged alongside changes that benefit other parts of the network. -
I wonder whether Scolari will still be at the Bridge next season. The results are a bit shoddy and he doesn't have a Plan B. Liverpool are up there but the brand of football is painful. The main problem is the stopper Jamie Carragher. Carragher plays so deep because of his lack of pace and then demands the rest of the defence and midfield drop back so he is protected. The knock on effect is not enough going forward to pin down the opposition and create strikes on goal. United have their problems too since Carlos Querez left for Portugal - now without any tactical sense United are finding it extremely tough playing any half decent teams, such as Villa and Everton. With the Big 3 all having issues, this season will continue to be very tight. I'd say Villa will complete the top 4 for CL qualification as Arsenal are pretty much finished and Wenger has only himself to blame with this crazy policy of nuturing kids rather than building any more titles winning teams.

I've been tempted to buy in that area and who wouldn't be when it's more value for money. Whenever I saw a property I wanted to live in, I'd return back during the night time and walk to it from the nearest train station or bus stop. If you don't feel comfortable you can walk home wearing work clothes every night then it's a no-no or certainly will be a no-no to a lot of people when you try to sell it in the future. If you think that part of Peckham is okay for you, then you may as well look at Elephant & Castle as I think that will deliver.

Is it just me who has had bad luck with the banks...?

I use Citibank and have no qualms. You can transfer to another Bank but chances are you'll be moving your assets to a less stable environment. -

If we're not careful they'll soon be marching down LL in full KKK regalia - perhaps it would be best to send them off to Guantanamo Bay before the Allied Forces start bombing East Dulwich

Finally had my Gas Boiler fixed yesterday with a newly installed Valve and Circuit board - it took the guy 4 hours to fix it after he phoned the manufacturer Vaillant a few times. Even managed to get another nPower engineer sent out today to come and balance all the radiators after I told them the job had not been completed. I thought it was the least they could do after waiting 2 weeks with my hands in front of electric heaters.

It did make me chuckle reading all the Facebook status updates from friends happy that Barack Obama had been elected the next President of the United States - as I suspect their sentiment, and many others, is that Obama seems a jolly good chap and is without doubt the new Gandhi. Every single Southern state and majority of the mid west voted for his rival McCain - and by quite big margins. whereas Obama cleaned up similarly the West Coast and most of the Northern states. In other words Old Boy America voted McCain and Modern America voted Obama. According to the BBC on election day, Obama gained 95% of the Black vote across the US - and on the same thread, McCain took 75% of White Evangelical Christians. Just goes to show that actual policies don't count for much - it was only 15 months ago that Obama said let's bomb Pakistan. In Aug 2007, Obama said: "If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will," - obviously President Musharraf has now gone but you get the tone. In same speech he said, "The first step must be getting off the wrong battlefield in Iraq, and taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan," March 2007: Sen. Barack Obama said the use of military force should not be taken off the table when dealing with Iran, which he called "a threat to all of us." September this year he said: "It is unacceptable for Iran to possess a nuclear weapon. It would be a game changer, and I've said that repeatedly. I've also said I would never take a military option off the table." Also in regard Iran he said, "I will never hesitate to use our military force in order to protect the homeland and United States' interests." No doubt he can talk the talk.. but we shall see what he delivers in due course.

Just had a call from the nPower muppets that my appointment has been cancelled for today - after I have waited all day for them to come and fix my heating. Apparently the spare part has not yet arrived. They are now scheduled to visit me first thing tomorrow (assuming the spare part has arrived).

Last Thursday (6th Nov), my Gas Boiler broke down. So I made an emergency claim on my Homeserve nPower Gas Boiler breakdown cover. 3 days later, last Sunday, an nPower engineer turned up and identified the fault as a broken valve. 3 days after that, yesterday 13 Nov, they came to fix it but had ordered the wrong valve. Today, I've been told they'll be fixing it with correct valve on Monday morning. By Monday 12 days will have passed since it broke down.
