  1. If someone is anti-semitic, they are by defintion both anti-Hebrew and anti-Arab
  2. I'd say certain roads should have restricted parking. For instance Melbourne Grove between East Dulwich station and East Dulwich Grove should be restricted to 2 hours, as I can imagine otherwise that would be a nightmare for residents during the day time. Maybe on other roads immediately off Lordship Lane there is a call for resident only parking. Each road should be taken on it's merits. I've not got a car but I can understand the frustration of not being able to park outside your own property because some "out-of-towners" are hogging the space. I don't know whether residents have to pay for their permits but if they do that is wrong.
  3. Just watching Sky News and an American commentator in D.C. has just gasped with excitement saying he has seen black and white people talking to each other ahead of the inauguration! "the beautiful thing about all this is, there black people and white people talking to each other in a way, in a fashion, that is, unseen"
  4. I don't know why Liverpool didn't push on for a 2nd goal at 1-0 - they had all the momentum, Everton were running around chasing shadows then with 20 minutes to go the Reds decided to button down the hatches and throw away the initiative. Late goals always are lucky goals but bringing on Lucus rather than Mascherano seemed to be more about building Lucus's confidence and sticking 2 fingers up at his critics than actually trying to close the game down. It all left Rafa with egg on his face at 1-1 with Robbie Keane and Torres already substituted - and before anyone says don't blame the manager, well the manager always take the credit after a good win so it works both ways. I've always said if you are happy to settle for 1-0 then you can't blame anyone when you get hit with a sucker punch. I wouldn't say Liverpool are running on an empty tank but they are certainly not in the right gear.
  5. Darrent Bent missed a point blank header from 5 yards with a few minutes to go - Harry Redknapp went ballistic over it!
  6. Not me, I've supported Liverpool through the bad times and relatively speaking that is like a Chelsea or Arsenal fan following their team after getting relegated to non-league football.
  7. Whose pulling whose strings in all this, it might be cynical but are these skirmishes ever welcomed by Israeli strategists.
  8. I remember wading through 2 or 3 feet of water outside the train station as it absolutely bucketted down without mercy. I'd be surprised if anyone had time to take a photo though as it was a job to keep on your feet!
  9. Phil Thompson's reaction on Soccer Saturday to Lampard's winner was great entertainment, Thommo was rocking back in his chair screaming, "GOOOOALLLLLL, GOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!" I watched most of the United game live on the web (via TVU Player), and to be fair teams who drive forward looking for goals deserve to get late winners more than teams who keep a defensive formation against sh!te teams for 90 minutes... If Liverpool want to take charge of the title race they need to cut loose - that means 1) playing 4-4-2, with 2) Gerrard in central midfield and 3) Daniel Agger at centre half - and most importantly 4) priortise the scoring of goals over clean sheets.
  10. Something also interesting is that Ronaldo is learning Spanish... when asked at the World Player of the Year awards how his Spanish was so good after giving an interview in Spanish. Speculation about Rafa is water off a ducks back to most Liverpool fans. We've got used to various stories about Rafa and Gerrard appearing prior to important parts of the season as a tool to destabilise the club. Sometimes it's self made sometimes it's from third parties. Prior to the Champions League semi final in 2005 between Chelsea and Liverpool, Alex Ferguson let is be known to the written press off the record, that Gerrard going to Chelsea was a done deal...... http://www.anfieldroad.com/news/archive/200505041209/gerrard-positive-about-liverpool-future.html/
  11. Well as they say on the Kop, once a Blue always a Manc. Sadly the bitter Blues would get more pleasure from Liverpool losing than the fact Everton have actually won!
  12. The 3rd one you got to go back to 1987/88, when Reds lost 1-0 at Anfield to Everton in a League Cup match.
  13. Both night games.
  14. There was a 2-1 home defeat to a Kanchelskis second half double at the Kop end around 95/96 Yes the Beardsley Everton winner was at Woodison Park in a night match - around 94.
  15. What I should also have said is that those 3 defeats under the floodlights are Everton's only wins at Anfield in the last 21 years. The last being that 1999 fixture - which ended with a flat footed Steve Staunton in goal raising some cheers with a point blank reaction save from Campbell. They're forecasting snow and windy game conditions for Monday night...
  16. Not surprised with that as Rafa clearly has some problems with Rick Parry whom he sees as being too influential on football matters. Rafa wants to make the decisions on transfers and the academy - he wants it in 100% black and white. This may surprise some people but Rick Parry has been known to turn up at Liverpool training sessions the night before European away matches wearing a Liverpool tracksuit emblazened with RP. He also plays in goal for the Liverpool legends, and his son is a coach in the youth academy. Having once spoken with Rick Parry, and knowing the lack of progress Liverpool have made off the field under his charge during last 10 years I can imagine Rafa is like a kettle ready to explode when he perceives Rick Parry hindering his future work.
  17. I'm not making any predictions this weekend as they never come true! As for Liverpol v Everton at Anfield on Monday night, Liverpool have an abysmal record against Everton in these rare night time Anfield derbies, losing the last 3 times, stretching over 21 years. However, the last time Liverpool played this sequence of games, of an Anfield league derby proceeding an FA Cup Anfield derby, the Reds came out 3-1 winners... but 10 days later the manager quit..
  18. I used to wish that such a car was parked outside my house just so a fellow neighbour wouldn't park their diesel powered truck there and then spend 5 minutes every morning at half 6 roaring the engine before it was warmed up... Besides all that, prospective new neighbours often use the type of cars in a street as a gauge to the neighbourhood.. be thankful it's not a rusty old transit van! ;-)
  19. I can understand the owners of Man City wanting to fast track their new team but the figures quoted over Kaka seem too vulgar even for Premiership football. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1117304/Propaganda-War-Is-Sir-Alex-using-United-magazine-undermine-Liverpools-title-charge-Rafa-row.html
  20. Purely to see the reaction! It would have to be, "Who wants to see Foxtons replaced with upmarket massage palour on Lordship Lane?"
  21. i think the local Gas board are Southern Electric (part of Scottish and Southern Energy) - or at least that's what they told me they got me to switch over from nPower
  22. Certain abbreviated names in the UK at this moment in time are considered derogatory - regardless of context or tone, whereas in other parts of the world they are considered innocent as they don't have the same association. For instance in the UK we can call an Australian an Aussie but maybe not an Argentine an Argie. As for the word c*nt, what are people trying to reclaim it for? as it's already in wide use up and down the country in same manner as f*ck.
  23. Well having just seen Ronaldo collect his World Ego of Year award from Ferguson, I couldn't help think Liverpool were actually, "30 miles from Fagan and the Artful Dodger"
  24. Well spotted Jeremy, maybe the jury need to reconvene
  25. Maybe they come in litre pots!? I'll be sticking to the BudVar..
