I actually thought the US National anthem was sang atrociously - but Faith Hill singing ?America The Beautiful? was pretty damn hot! >:D
-
It's still coming down nicely - and lo and behold Southwark council have now just started gritting the streets...
-
Very satisfying result but that was a 0-0 performance from Liverpool, absolutely diabolical against a very poor Chelsea. I was never impressed with Scolari once you cut through the hype - a monkey could have won the World Cup in 2002 for Brazil when you have Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo, and his Portugese record is only pumped up because they shat on an overrated England twice - so Sandperson for once you are right Scolari will not survive through the summer.

With United 5 points clear it'll be criminal if there are no goals today at Anfield.

Robbie Keane dropped from Liverpool squad for tomorrow's Chelsea game - and based on Benitez's continual stream of quotes in the press it looks even more like he wants him out of the club before Monday's transfer deadline at 5 o'clock. The main problem for Keane at Liverpool has been trying to compete for possession of the ball with Steven Gerrard in areas that they both shine - and there was only ever going to be one winner. I don't think it's a coincidence that Keane's best games for Liverpool have been United at home, and PSV away when Gerrard did not start either game.

Villa might finish 3rd if they quietly go about their business picking up wins but I think 2nd is unrealistic because it would take both Liverpool and Chelsea to implode. With the new pressure of top 4 becoming more an expectation I think ultimately they'd be very, very happy to just keep Arsenal at bay for 4th spot.

Haha that's why I'm not making any more predictions about Liverpool or Man United results!
-
Swansea on a roll, from what I can gather they're back in the zone ... so big prediction ... they'll score 4 or 5 tomorrow on the South Coast.. Pass the bucket... Honest 'Arry explaining how he ain't been tapping up Robbie Keane - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7862151.stm

one at a time please ;-)

Norwich was actually the first team I saw from the Kop - what a day, what a feeling, walking up the steep steps and than gazing down on that wide open terrace. Norwich were a good team back then and got a 0-0 result in a season when Liverpool demolished most teams at Anfield 4-0. Does anyone know what season I am talking about?

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has hit out at Premiership Referees - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/7859615.stm Some might try and palm it off as a crazy rant but for others does Mowbray have a point? I certainly think it is unfair and unprofessional to go around treating one team different to another. One might think that a Referee referring to Lampard as 'Frank', and Rooney as 'Wayne', and Gerrard as 'Stevie' is harmless but how is the Ref likely to respond to a challenge from those guys compared with another player from a lesser club he refers to as 'Number 8 in the stripes'? Would he have so eagerly sent off Paul Scholes on Tuesday night if it had been 'Paul' rather than the West Brom skipper who made that 50-50 challenge when it was 1-0 to United? That red card has since been rescinded. Surely each game should be approached with a clean slate by Referees - and leave friendships and star gazing on the touchline.

Yes I went, as did Anna and Keef, and a few friends. We were sitting on the sofa right next to the door. Where were you sat? I was caught out with the promotional offer as well when I ordered my second pint - although when I went yesterday I was still paying the promotional price after 8pm... but the Becks was good.

Cheers Applespider for the explanation As for a Sky subscription, this season the Monday night, Thursday night, Thanksgiving triple header and Playoffs have all been in Widescreen HD ... just a shame they no longer cover the NBA

Depends if you give me a good reference..

Just seen the Liverpool line-up for tonight and the midfield is a worry: - Benayoun, Lucas, Mascherano, Babel Not sure whether this will work - could be another game of attrition. Surely Gerrard is needed in the centre of midfield, then get Robbie Keane upfront.... oh well fingers crossed!

SP we did look better when Skrtel was out - but not because he is rubbish BUT rather because Danny Boy was back in the team, Daniel Agger is a fantastic footballer. With Agger he brings the ball out and really is a class act. I'd love to see Skrtel and Agger as the two centre defenders as it would allow full backs and midfield to push forward and bolster our attacks. WIGAN v LIVERPOOL is LIVE in The Vale tonight - kick off 7.45. I'll be there, so hope to see a few REDS down there as well - btw, they're got a special promotion of ?2.70 per pint. I was in there last night and even though it was United on LIVE it's a nice joint with it's big comfy sofas.

This might be a silly question but I'm going to ask it anyway, did Fitzgerald of the Cardinals get to keep the football after scoring his brilliant hat-trick of touchdowns in the NFC Conference final the other Sunday? :-S

Sandperson you beat your drum and roared with great authority that United have only conceded 27 goals in all competitions this season including pre-season, well Liverpool have conceded a modest 28... not that stats count for much this time of season so like Everton last Monday night at Anfield you need to know this is not going to result in a trophy presentation ;-) What do you mean your "analysis" of Rafa, all you really said was "he is useless" - and then you alluded to the fact he reached the top of the table with a rubbish set of players which is a back handed compliment that he is a footballing alchemist.. Personally I think Liverpool have a great set of players that does include Mascherano, Torres and Skrtel. Oh btw, this season, United have actually conceded 29 ;-)
-
Just checked on wiki to see if Lester Piggot was right or wrong - and found Declan is correct... and btw Stroller died of a heart attack when he was 36..
-
LOL, once you cut through the venom of Sandperson's outburst there is clearly something disturbing him ;-) Anyway, Keef you pretty much got it spot on but let me explain further... Liverpool have beaten 3 of the top 6 so far this season (top 6 is:- United, Liverpool, Villa, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton) and remain unbeaten... whereas United have only 1 win, and 2 defeats from that top 6.
-
Yup I thought Robbo must have been sober when he wrote that - it is very good. I disagree with your earlier comments Keef that it's looking like United who have it to lose - I think Rafa Benitez very much is the one who will win it or lose it with his policies. United's strength is beating lowly opposition - and Liverpool's is the polar opposite. If only Rafa would let Liverpool cut loose - anyone whose seen Liverpool chasing a game this season will know they've been pretty unstoppable when they've put their foot on the pedal. I am hoping that United's 5-0 headline act last night will act as a spur for Rafa to send out a team to destroy rather than contain at Wigan tonight.

Lester Pigott?

Barcelona look incredible and are by far and away the best team in Europe by a country mile. They have the best player in the world in Lionel Messi, a player who proves you don't have to dive and feign injury to win matches like some show ponies I care not to mention. Barca have been unlucky with injuries in the previous 2 seasons as likes of Eto'o and Messi were only just coming back from injury when they faced Liverpool and Manchester United. I have no doubt that if Barca can keep that team fit they will reach the final and no one, not anyone from the Premiership, will stop them home or away.

I've enjoyed watching the NFL when it has been broadcast in Widescreen HD as you do get to appreciate a lot more the tactics and different skills out on the pitch. I find it a completely different spectacle on a Sunday during the regular season with it being broadcast in SD in the boxed 4:3 aspect ratio - I just switch over to La Liga or a movie... Anyway, I'll be Sky+'ing the game - although might watch the first half live BTW, I thought last year's Superbowl was incredible going right down to the wire

Lizziedjango it is completely different what happened, see original post. If this "admirer" has later followed you down a side street and said 'dont be scared' and then met each one of your side steps to pin you into a corner would you have taken it so easily? Of course not.
