  1. Too much information, sorry but I couldn't read any more after "soiled"...
  2. I expect Avram Grant to be made Chelsea Manager for rest of season - and I expect it to happen within the next 48 hours. He parted on good terms with Abramovich, and the Russian knows it's the least risky option to secure a top 4 finish for Champions League qualification. I'd think Chelsea will make Grant an offer he cannot refuse even if it's for just 4 months. Then in the summer they'll try and bring in Frank Rikjaard as new Manager. EDIT: Woho! I've just put ?2 at 6/1 on Grant becoming new Chelsea Manager.
  3. Our "beloved prime minister" might be up in arms - but so are the rest of the country over Labour handing out Knighthoods and Peerages. I don't remember anyone saying no to be made a Lord however undeserving the case, so to ask someone to turn down a cash bonus seems far fetched. After all working is hardly a hobby for most people. What is sad is there is no clampdown on the 48 hour week maximum when there are thousands in the City who effectively have to work 12 hours a day just to keep their jobs (and then get a token bonus). Sure there are scores of people who get big fat bonuses, bit like the Cabinet minister who retires and then goes off to earn millions in the City as some 1 day a week international "palm greaser" consultant. Maybe Gordon Brown should publicly suggest his old mate Tony Blair starts the ball rolling by handing back his ?5m salary he earns at JP Morgan and be happy with his wages/expenses he gets as a UN envoy.. It's all hypocrisy - starting with Gordon Brown and happily to be continued no doubt by whoever takes over in the future whether Labour or Tory. If you really want to make a difference first port of call is to keep your money under your bed - to stop the banks lending it at a higher rate then they give your savings ;-)
  4. They should definately have a crossing near Somerfield, plus the line of sight is difficult on that bend. In fact I'd say make it a Pelican crossing to deal with the dopey drivers who will charge straight across a zebra crossing like they do at Goose Green roundabout.
  5. Putting aside the belief that because Scolari looks like a mafia boss he must be a terrific manager, let us examine some key facts: - 1) Did Scolari over achieve by winning World Cup when he had Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Rivaldo? As all I remember was them struggling past England, then squeezing a 1-0 win against Turkey in semi finals, and then beating worst ever German team (according to pundits) in final with 2 late goals. 2) What did he do with Portugal, described as the golden generation apart from just about beating England twice? When it came down to it with Portugal they had no tactics, no plan B, nothing with those great players to beat Greece in the final in their own backyard. 3) Scolari had a huge reputation, but I don't ever remember any other European giants beating a path to his door ... I know England were after him but when you consider who the alternative was, i.e. Steve McClaren, that is hardly surprising. 4) Chelsea have a formidable squad of players and the results were very poor - Avram Grant did a better job with a slightly weaker squad and that in an environment where he had neither support on the terraces or team bus. In the Premiership it is a weekly battle of tactics - teams will quickly adapt to try and nullify your strengths and that is what has happened over the last few months to Chelsea. Scolari has not been able to find a solution, not because there is not a solution, but because he is not good enough to find the answers to take Chelsea forward.
  6. I think on this occasion Chelsea are right to yield the axe but they have a pretty poor track record with managers... David Webb's reward for coming in mid-season and saving Chelsea from relegation in the early 90s was the sack by Ken Bates. Few years later Ruud Gullit got the push with Bates using the infamous "netto" wages demands as the reason. Then Abramovich & Kenyon came in and treated Ranieri like a dog... but the worst treatment of all was reserved for Avram Grant who in any other season (with a slice less of bad luck) would have claimed the League and European Champions League double.
  7. already under discussion on http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,214312,page=10
  8. There is no truth in the England team wanting to eat Shane Williams alive on Saturday - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7879088.stm
  9. Worth pointing out that the June & September dates clash with England playing football (not that I'm an England fan) - and the July date is the Springboks versus the Lions in the Rugby. So any pubs showing these games live will probably be pretty rammed during the afternoon when they're televised.
  10. I think Wilkins can and will do a good job for rest of season. Chelsea & Pompey have both made the right decision to try and stop the rot before its too late.
  11. I reckon 12 out of 15. I'm saying no to number 15 as I think you mean in one gulp! :)
  12. Some of those managers might be worth considering pre-season but not when you're already in the trenches fighting for existence. I cannot believe anyone would employ Stuart Pearce as a manager again, although if he sits next to Capello long enough there'll always be someone gullable enough to believe it's the failed manager of both Nottm Forest and Man City who is actually pulling the strings. Simply put Pearce is another Tony Adams. What odds now that Chelsea have SACKED Scolari - it's the Brazilian?
  13. I'm surprised he got the job when you consider his diabolical record at Wycombe Wanderers. Portsmouth still got a strong team just lack of confidence from being all at sea under Adams - I'd get George Graham out of retirement for rest of season.
  14. No I doubt they would since he burned his bridges joining Liverpool (incidently his son plays for the Liverpool youth team, after coming through the ranks, as a winger and played in the recent FA Youth Cup win over Chelsea).
  15. >> we need to land mine the Severn Bridge No, No, No!!!! Martin Johnson and his England team don't need any excuses for not meeting their historic fate next Saturday night in Cardiff!!!
  16. I guess Tevez, apart from almost single handedly keeping the Hammers in the PL, also had the good grace not to pose in a Man United shirt whilst he was still a West Ham player.
  17. I reckon they'll have it on at The Vale as they have so many screens
  18. Depends on the bait ;-)
  19. Haha - Craig Burley and Tim Sherwood visibly gutted with Liverpool win. They are using adjectives they don't even apply to relegation fodder. Thank god they've had the Premiership contract slashed - they nearly as bad as ITV. Bunch of jokers the pair of them!
  20. What's happening with Chelsea - it just gets worse! But what about Liverpool's line-up for this evening at Pompey - 6 defenders... and just one player upfront who scored the grand total of 1 goal last season in France. Looks like a highly speculative selection. Gulp!
  21. Yup great meeting everyone - just got out of bed and my head is banging like a drum kit!
  22. I'm not a big fan of Craig Burley, he is always moaning and their studio pundits are clueless so much so Harry Redknapp has employed two of them to boost his ego.. I like to hear a bit of spirit, and that's why Sky are kings - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULad-iwMekI
  23. I'm having a cheese sandwich and a banana.. ::o
  24. Setanta have had their 2010-2013 Premiership contract cut to 23 matches a season. Sky have 5 of the 6 packages and will have over 80% of matches. This will come as a relief to those fed up with Setanta's poor coverage.
  25. Yes Jeremy I realise that the helicopters flying above, and the police vans charging down Lordship Lane are funded by a bit more than ?42k ;-) And since when has 'white' been a euphemism for 'middle class' - wouldn't the upper class have something to say about these 'middle class supremacists' !?
