Great spring walk on Green Dale and through Dog Kennel Hill Wood this morning, led by Daniel Greenwood of the London Wildlife Trust. The good news is that the whitethroats are back from Africa ? and even better news is that we heard a lesser whitethroat too. That's a first for me around here.

Comfortable 3-0 win today at Wingate and Finchley, so it's home vs Enfield in the playoff semi on Thursday. And I believe I'm right in saying this is Dulwich Hamlet's highest final position in the league for 37 years :-)

Very sad indeed. As an 'expat' Villa fan, I had the pleasure of meeting him on a couple of occasions. He was always a gentleman, which was reflected in the way he played ? always physical but always fair. One of the great Villa players of recent decades. RIP Ugo.

Walking's fine for my commute ? four miles and an hour and ten minutes door-to-door (ED to London Bridge) with a pleasant enough walk through the back streets of Cmaberwell and Walworth via three parks. I've stuck with Broadchurch, but last night's denouement was a dreadful letdown. As formulaic as Agatha Christie but with Scandi-noir pretensions.

The missus now scans all utility bills, big receipts etc and plonks them somewhere secure on 'the cloud', and the paper copies can be disposed of after a year or so (as there are occasions you need to provide recent proof of address).

Saw a peregrine falcon flying over Green Dale fields last weekend. Someone else saw one yesterday. You can tell when a sparrowhawk or peregrine is in the vicinity as all the other birds shut up immediately :-)

But that's not the same species as 'ramsons', the native UK wild garlic (not sure about Ireland). Foraging has had serious impacts on populations of ramsons ? Sydenham Hill and Dulwich woods, for example.

Agree with Jeremy about Antic. They are clever about their food offering. The EDT is regular good standard but not great modern pub fare, given the huge range of other eating options on LL. The Catford Constitutional Club by contrast, is genuinely very good indeed ? in an area that's a bit of an eating-out desert.

Yeah, barring disaster we should get into the playoffs, but it's an advantage to finish as high as possible as 2nd play 5th, and 3rd play 4th, in the playoff semis.
