I think Mr Smith has turned up at the newspaper offices unannounced with his "symbol" and they've sent the summer workie down to do the business.

What's the point of posting this? Are you advocating assertiveness training for 'private school kid types'* to stop them being such passive victims, or education (perhaps telepathy) in making a snap assessment as to whether someone is asking for your phone with "no aggression" or is about to knock you to the pavement. At the moment, it's got a whiff of blame the victim (4 times? LOLS) which I'm sure is not your aim. stacey-lyn Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would be interested in the OP's reply. TH was indeed not in same league as AM but "an average jobbing player at best"? He was a lot more than that. Top 20 ranking for nearly a decade, and much of it in top ten. 28 ATP finals, 11 wins. 6 grand slam semis - one of them at RG which was pretty remarkable for him. He made the absolute most of a pretty limited set of physical attributes.

Sneer sneer, assumption assumption, obligatory disclaimer about ironic beards etc. But anyway: London Contemporary Music Festival - two weekends of free contemporary music on top of Peckham car park - tickets just gone up for booking overnight: http://lcmf.co.uk/ Twitter account at: https://twitter.com/LCMFPeckham

It was only going half way up, to be fair. Lack of ambition there. david_carnell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Something twice as high as the Shard. Entries from residents of 15 Relf Road and 26 Tarbert Road were amongst 68 designs entered in the Great Tower for London competition of 1890. http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2013/06/gasp-at-the-south-london-entries-for-the-1890-great-tower-of-london-competition/ You can see all the designs entered here: http://publicdomainreview.org/2012/07/16/catalogue-of-the-68-competitive-designs-for-the-great-tower-for-london-1890/

"I think you're overthinking it." I doubt it.

It only gets commissioned because it makes Dimbleby millions per episode, *Bob*.

I don't understand this. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- >if the SNP and > large numbers of other Scottish people could stop > blaming London and 'The City' for all their woes > and TAKE SOOME FOOKING RESPONSIBILITY they can > stay. > >

That was Alex's exact line to Paxman.

Piss off, Mr Brevity. Add in Paxman and his "armoured train" loaded with 8% of the BofE gold reserve heading north etc. (actually add in the regular cliff faces of self-regard clashing as 'ec crosses swords with Paxo) What's been, er, annoying about these "entertainments" is the exploitation of the cultural cringe factor, the playing on the sense that of course the poor old Scots couldn't handle the responsibilities of independence. Paxman and his eyebrows would make me want to vote yes (if I had a vote) just to stick it up that patrician disregard. But overall, appeals to nationalism...too ugly, too late. Appeals to democratic accountability...yes of course. It all depends what you define as the relevant unit of population/nationhood, which I think is eventually a gut/heart decision. Another thing. Say Labour does lose its block of Scottish MPs from Westminster, even as part of some sort of Devo Max arrangement. It looks like you then get a permanent English Tory majority, but given that possibility maybe we would see some re-balancing of party politics within England? Pipedream for a Friday lunchtime, obviously.

No doubt that there's been a bubble, and if some "craft beers" are excellent then some are pisspoor imitations being launched onto the market by people with a week's training behind them. In that sense, the label "craft beer" doesn't mean anything (either in a negative or positive sense, in terms of quality) which is probably what Malumbu was driving at. On the other hand, would I rather London had a "scene" that could populate a web page this busy (As per Annette's link http://www.londonbrewers.org), or was in the hands of the Pride/Chiswick generic Brown Booze pump? I know the answer, even if some of these beers will disappoint.

Is that the same Brockley Brewery (The Brockley Brewing Company) which describes itself as brewing "premium craft beer". Confused now. Craft beer, Emperor's new clothes me thinks. And being a card carrying old fart I know. If you are in the Palace there are some luverly pubs selling proper beer. Or try the best pub in the world, the Blythe in Forest Hill, which sells draft beer from the Brockley brewery.

Louisa's bottom drawer turned out to be a trunk freezer of salvaged Kennedys sausages and Manze's liquor. At 9:45pm, after the dancing, we served a late night snack of ironic proto-Yuppie street food: a "wrap" (piece of bread) with "artisan cheese" (Cathedral City). Then Lou got one of her iconic posters out that said "Piss off home now you freeloading bastards" and we made for the bridal suite (Rm 1343, Eltham Travel Lodge).

You should have seen the buffet.

Yes, LadyD. Motorists on that side of the Rye already have to deal with the distraction of dozens of joggers' arses pertly emoting all the way up the side of the Rye. Overlay an insistent animalistic rhythmic beating soundtrack and there'll be multi-vehicle RTAs peppering the B238 southbound. Still, more work for FM Conway, I suppose.

And if the kids are away, save doing *that* till the morning. Too much bloody effort when you get home and you both just want a couple of pages of John Le Carre and yer zeds. #Quidsbignightout
