the rub here is that I've had an opportunity to say I wouldn't be comfortable with it before it happens (should it happen). UDT had no such choice, regardless of whether he's arsed or not.

UDT, it would appear is no shrinking violet. He might even enjoy being the centre of attention. Despite this, I still perceive this thread as bullying in nature, albeit school-yard and not intrinsically malicious (I hope). What next the dreaded 'B' word, banter???

It smacks of 'let's all pile in', safety in numbers etc... A whole thread devoted to this simply isn't necessary. From what I hear school kids now set up Facebook pages titled 'Fred Bloggs is a prick'. Fred mightn't be the most popular in class and might act like an idiot at times but he doesn't deserve that.

BBC's Jill Douglas' first 'question' to to newly crowned Olympic champion... 'it's not what the British public wanted but congratulations' Sue Barker did exactly the same to Federer after he'd demolished Murray in Wimbledon final. The Beeb really need reign in this jingoism and let the events do the talking regardless of the winner's nationality. Still Huzzah for the Olympics though.
