What is your pick of double strollers for 2 under 2?
snowboarder replied to Sunflower76's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sorry - also if width is not an issue (prob not in Oz but very much so in narrow door East Dulwich houses!) the baby jogger city mini double folds REALLY easily - so good if getting in and out of car... -
There's no way my toddler would sit in the buggy in the park - as soon as we reach the gates he is 'OUT! OUT!' - and the creche at Dulwich leisure centre is for babies 6m plus only, sadly. More excuses huh?!? Really don't know how to approach exercise - I do have 2 mornings when toddler is at nursery but then I run round doing all the things I can't do with him along (coffee...cake...etc!!)

I have several problems with the phil and teds - they can be too small for toddlers, but with 20m age gap you wouldn't find that. I think the hoods are generally a bit rubbish and flap around, and I am currently having an issue that my 4m old is too big for the cocoon/underneath bit, but not really ready to sit up. And once the buggy is set up as 2 seats, neither seat reclines (much - the back seat on some models can do a little but not on the explorer) so if you want buggy sleep its not massively comfortable. There is a bit of an issue with explorer hoods in particular atm but they are hopefully improving that. The new p&t verve has a reclining back seat but is pricey. The britax b dual is based on the phil and teds one up one down concept but has more seat configuration options - people seem to rate it - and you can get good deals on it. The new mountain buggy looks great and I really want one! Side by side I think are better in terms of comfort for both children but obv they do tend to take up more space and they don't have so much 'growth' I suppose in terms of not being able to use as a single - so when toddler is out of buggy they are not really necessary. However my eldest is nearly 27m and I can see us using the double for some time yet - we do a lot of walking to the parks etc and would never get there/get run over if he walked!! We have the p&t as our walking buggy, and then a bugaboo bee for the car which the car seat can clip into and has a buggy board on it - good for nursery drop off (have to walk down long track) and driving to the park - when you don't need the big double and toddler will mostly be walking/scooting. I clearly spend too much time thinking about all of this!! -
I think they say 12w post c section for exercise? I am 17w and certainly feel running is fine now. Finding the time is another matter as baby seems to need me from 5.30am, toddler awake by 6 and baby not down till 8 - and I can't see 2 yr old sitting in the buggy for powerpramming...but maybe it's all excuses, excuses.... Maybe we need an exercise collective...

Also look at this buggy - http://mountainbuggy.com/en/buggies/double/duet New side by side coming out which is the width of a phil and teds. You can have a carry cot for baby. Looks amazing! -

Ah. One of my favourite subjects!! What is your age gap? Budget? Do you drive/bus/walk a lot? How big is your house? So much to consider! The p&t are good to a point - but there are other options and there are some considerable cons to them. No time to go into too much detail atm - but look at http://www.bestbuggy.co.uk/ and http://community.babycentre.co.uk/groups/a3859035/the_doubletriple_or_more_buggy_review_board I have an explorer but thinking about changing it.... -

BTW Our mini-bed is about 4 > inches off the ground! I never understand it when people say this - mine is hell bent on escape (managed it from cot whilst in sleeping bag the other morning). There is NO WAY he would not realise he could get out of bed. Therefore, like belle, I plan on tethering him to his cot until his teenage years... Just bagged up the newborn stuff for baby 2...but can't quite bring myself to get rid of it yet...blame the hormones!! Husband not impressed...

Just got mine off this morning when...oh...tickly nose...hayfever...MASSIVE sneeze. He opened his eyes, smiled at me and shut them again. Think he's starting to get used to the noise!

Hi we're away next week but still on the radar for meeting up. Tuesday does work for us in that toddler is at nursery but happy to do other days esp at parks if nice. The toddler-in-the-garden-cafe when the playroom was shut for yoga wasn't my proudest moment... (still have visions of a little hand reaching towards massive chocolate cake...)

My 2 yr old has never drunk cows milk, he'll have it on cereal etc but has never wanted it as a drink. We cut down on bf from about 1, last night feed at 17m, now he just drinks water (even at bedtime). I even tried giving him some chocolate milk at one point as got in a bit of a 'he must drink milk' moment, but he wasn't interested in that either! He seems fine, healthy, sturdy, not often ill, eats other dairy stuff.... In terms of dropping the feed we just did it ever so slowly and ultimately he was taking so little that one night I just missed it out, and he didn't really notice.

You know you were woken up too early when ...
snowboarder replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I don't think it actually got dark last night....early/late...I dunno these days... -
I have a new woe as of early this morning. 2 yr old can climb out of cot. Despite sleeping bag. Joy.

Pickle - I KNOW - but how to accommodate baby 2's naps when you have energetic toddler bursting in/nursery drop off/pick up/ need to be out at park etc. I just can't do it. And mine can't a) seem to do her 4 hr ish feed schedules, or b) sleep/and or keep awake as long as she seems to think they can. Big sb is bathed/story-ed and in his dark room on his own at 7/7.15. He bangs the cot for an HOUR. He has banished the monkey asleep/awake clock to our room - apparently he 'no like it'. Today is the longest day, right? So it can only get darker...phew.

Can I ask some questions about my 2 and have a moan? 16 week old: Takes AGES to settle at night, wont self settle (shouts at me!) so I am feeding him to sleep (I know, I know) but he keeps waking up when I put him down. Once asleep he's pretty good though. But my main question is what is this leg banging?!? All night, whilst asleep, he pulls up his legs and BAM whacks them down with full force. I don't mind in principle, but I may have to evict him from my room/bed soon as it's waking me up! What is it? Why does he do it?!? Oh and HOW to get baby no. 2 into any kind of routine?!? 26 month old: Hum - nap refusal (especially on nursery days - he attends 2 mornings a week) and taking an hour or so to go to sleep at night. Hits the side of his bed in a sort of silent protest. What are other peoples sleep routines with 2 yr olds? He is currently doing 8pm to about 6am (often earlier) and has up to a 2 hr nap during the day. Nap too long? I often have to wake him though...which leads to grumpiness. Hate the way sleep is an all consuming part of early parenthood. I had no idea...

Try blankets trick and sleeping bag but back in the moses basket tonight? More cuddly and one step at a time?
-
Have you tried any of the zip up swaddles - like a tight sleeping bag with no arms? On phone so can't do links - but there's the ergo cocoon and sthg called the woombie...worth a try?

Where can I buy Nappy Nippas?
snowboarder replied to BellendenBear's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I can only find 1...there may be more lurking in the nappy drawer but literally only had split second to check. You're welcome to it though.. -
Claire - do you know how far away you live from Heber? Apologies if this is in a previous post...

Doing anything for fathers day?
snowboarder replied to Fuschia's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think it's a lovely opportunity for daddy to bond with the little monsters...er..I mean cherubs. So he probably needs to take them out for the day.... -
My 26m old thinks the buggy board is a propelled scooter. Yells 'scoot. scoot', pushes with one leg and then jumps off. But I think for some children buggy boards may never be a successful means of transport...

My little boy had very few words at 21m. Then his brother was born when he was 23m and literally in the week I was in hospital I swear he basically started talking...strange...now 3m later every day he says something new and it's getting much clearer...just for reassurance!

Take some yoga pants/jogging bottoms - if you have to stay in so much nicer than wandering around in a night shirt - makes you feel a bit normal and presentable. By some weird twist of fate I ended up not in post natal bit of ward but ante natal (in own room) where it was chilly - take some cosy sleepsuits just in case!
