  1. Yep I'm currently having almost opposite emotions - love the new baby fiercely but OH MY am feeling so much for my cheeky little toddler, whose entire world has changed...totally unnecessary I should imagine as long term he's not going to remember any of this!! For what it's worth, 3.5 weeks in.... 1) How will I get the supper/bath/bedtime routine done with my eldest - NO idea. Have been SO lucky so far and begged for help. New baby has cross moment from about 5ish making it particularly fun..... 2) Will the baby's crying wake up my eldest at night? Not so far but doesn;t stop me doing anything to try to make sure that baby doesn't cry - cue all night cuddling and feeding... 3) How will I breastfeed a newborn with a cheeky toddler running riot? - This is not going well so far - we have had house plants decapitated, the front door opened wide, clambering over kitchen worktops, playing in the sink and this morning playing with mummy's wallet turned into eating coins. Shudder. He also tries to make me stop feeding the baby - pulls my top down and waves goodbye to my boob saying 'byeeee mummy-milk'. Sigh - need tips on this. He's just not the type to sit nicely and read/watch telly etc. 4) Lack of sleep? What can I say....combination of adrenalin and absolute necessity just keeps you going....so far... 6) Am I likely to ever sleep again/wear a nice pair of non-baby stained jeans/eat a meal without being interrupted ever again? Nope, sorry....well, again, not so far anyway! ps - I also feel compelled to make this known - I was told MANY times whilst I bemoaned my hugely pregnant-dealing with a toddler is so hard-state that it got easier once the baby was born. I believed them. They were WRONG.
  2. Last year when the clocks went forward/back I spent ages planning my strategy for adjusting sleep and naps and routine generally. Needn't have bothered - as if by magic little snowboarder just woke up at the new time. Huh - how did he know?!?
  3. I could maybe make next Monday if no-one minds the company if a toddler and new baby!! Would people be able to do s bit earlier - say 10/10.30? Maybe Lucas if fine as the garden bit is good for runaway toddlers....
  4. Can anyone with a close sling spare me 10 minutes to instruct on use?!? Tried to get newbie in it yesterday and am too baby brained to work it out...
  5. It seemed fine to me...admittedly I stayed out of the ball pool with the baby, husband was on toddler duty, but it didn't smell (!) and just looked like there was the normal children-worn grubbiness, really.
  6. Thanks guys will check out. We copped out completely today and only made it as far as peckham soft play.....
  7. My sister, aged around 2, used to march around saying 'oh DOD! Oh - no say DOD, no say that!'. Very self aware...
  8. Little snowboarder is bored of his usual haunts of Dulwich park/goosegreen/Peckham rye/horniman sandpit - is there anywhere maybe a bit further afield but not too far that might suit? Is there anywhere at crystal palace park maybe? He has far too much energy....and a new bike and scooter to use!
  9. Newest baby sb twisted and turned literally until my 36wk scan - did quite a lot of transverse to breech action. I think buggie is right - his brother had simply left him loads of room. Did entertain myself with the spinningbabies.com website though....
  10. Ooh yep sorry - 9lb 9oz! Tiny in comparison to his 10lb 7oz older brother!! Seriously growing these babies is easy it's getting 'em out that seems the problem!

  12. I'm sure a lot of you are not interested...but after several months of threads ranging from looking for a more positive birth experience to vbac and probably culminating with a query as to the effectiveness of castor oil as a means to kickstart labour - well I thought I should finish the story!! Baby snowboarder mark 2.0 was born 8 days ago - exactly 5 days after my waters broke (hence the castor oil thread!!). Sadly we tried pretty much everything on the vbac front but after waters going on Thursday morning, niggles for the next couple of nights, full blown labour from early Sunday morning to eventually finding not progressing from 6cm and meconium in waters early Monday morning (all labour perfectly safe and controlled at home with pool etc - pretty lovely and only really happened because of amazing independent midwives who believed in me)...well we just had to say at least we tried, and transferred to Kings in the early hours and eventually had another c section. Which was fine, and calm, and I do at least feel like I went through labour! Then we began a whole other world of getting imprisoned in kings as they thought the baby had an infection..then jaundice...blah blah! Home now though - and have been super lucky so far with a fairly chilled out baby (hmm and jealous toddler - but that's another thread!!). Anyway - I just thought it would be nice to finish the story - especially as I've had lots to think about via this forum along the way! Right - cue the OH MY GOD I have 2 children how on earth am I going to cope threads....thanks forum for all the advice and entertainment along the hard hard path of pregnancy and child rearing!!
  13. Oh god seriously am not sure can watch this anymore. Watching when pregnant is one thing but 1 week after having a baby quite another....
  14. And...sorry can't get on your website only phone - I needsome post-pregnancy-puffiness work - is that an option?
  15. Yep I am. Baby 1 estimated at 10lb 4 oz at 39 wks, born at 10lb 7oz 3 days later (I know, i know!!) Baby 2 estimated current weight at 38wks was 8lb 7oz, born at 9lb 9oz at 40 weeks. And they reckon baby can put on anything between 0.5 to 1 pound week at that age, so in my case pretty accurate. Bump size was all over the place though - esp asbaby kep turning and moving down etc. At one point I measured about 43 weeks...baby turned and engaged and went down to 37cm!!
  16. Hello spring baby mums....I think I may have had the first (and poss officially a 'winter' baby) as my little boy rocked up yesterday morning!
  17. Not moving yet but just assessing options - as medical induction will not be offered - so the question i suppose really is would you try castor oil pretty much as a last resort before resorting to an unwanted second c section....?
  18. ...to bring on labour? Would you? Have you? Could you?

Little sb was the same at tumbletots last week and I nearly cried with frustration...took him a good while to perk up too.... X
  20. Sing and Sign will be visiting at around 10ish on Friday morning for a mini taster session. Babies can start Sing and Sign from 6 months - so an ideal opportunity to see whether it's something you would like to start after the ~Easter break. There will also be chance for the usual tea, biscuits and chat. Bumps and Babes is suitable for all mums with bumps and babies under one (or not yet walking), and is on from 9.30 - 11.30 every friday at St Faiths Hall, North Dulwich. Highly recommended!!
  21. Fences need to be high - Dulwich park for example is easy to escape from!! Out of interest when do they stop doing this? The running away bit I mean? It's totally tedious, and not really about being naughty, it's more that he just has NO sense of danger etc yet. Anyway....hopefully we will get to meet sometime...I'm a bit scared about facing the world with 2 - 1 has been enough of a challenge so far!!
  22. It's annoying that we have swim lesson on wed am currently - though whether I'll be able to once newbie arrives not sure (hmm logistics generally of maintaining toddler classes with new baby anyone?!?).
  23. God that is loads!! Absolutely no dietary knowledge but maybe things like toasted pitta fingers, just dry, breadsticks, crackers, little pots of cold pasta, but try wholemeal as longer to digest etc? Little pots of raw carrot? Maybe nothing too lovely but filling!! Z likes marmite rice cakes but not others - and whilst yes poss a salt issue i quite like that they are savory at least! And you could bake carrot and bran muffins or sthg? Or smoothies with milk? Forget now but there are those high/low GI foods aren't there that keep you going longer - like porridge rather than shreddies at breakfast - might be worth investigating?!?
  24. I'd love to meet up and our afternoons post nap are sometimes a bit dull...but toddler sleeps until 3pm and is runaway prone - so I have no idea where to suggest as suitable meeting place! The plough not great - doors/behind bar exploration etc!! Maybe if we can find some secure outdoor space once summer comes we can join you...
  25. I think you can go and view your notes for free at kings?? It's if you need a copy that you pay? Note to everyone - take copies of your notes yourself while you still have 'em!
