Dear book group, Thanks to everyone who came to our last meeting, very lively. Our next book is Love in the time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_in_the_Time_of_Cholera I know some of us have read it already but it was a long time ago and it?s a good read, as I remember it's very funny. This is for the January meeting will let you know the date next week. Our end of year meal is to be at Yadas, Arch 163 Rye Lane, SE15 4ST on Wednesday 6th December AT 7.30 pm. I will send a map to you next week. They do veggie, vegan and meat so some thing for every one. This is a Kurdish restaurant, the food is superb and cheep but you get large portions, it?s a great place to go to. You have to bring your own wine and there is an Iceland and an off license near by. Please let me know if you are coming asap. Sheila, Sarah P(so is Jenson), Maggie-you are booked on to the BBC 4 Book club January 18th. More details next week. The book for that is by Patrick Gale, A Place Called Winter. https://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/apr/10/a-place-called-winter-patrick-gale-review Till then, -

Some feed back from last week. I really enjoyed Wednesday. It was a treat to be able to discuss a book with its author and the first time I have ever done so. Louisa was very open and friendly. I was interested to hear how she was drawn to write ? My Dear I wanted to tell you ? after learning about Dr Gillies work with facial reconstruction. And I liked our lively group discussion with Louisa, and Sheila?s wartime contributions. I feel I now know more about the book and the war and there were one or two things I had missed which were brought to my attention. As a general comment about the book, I believe I have learned a little about the trauma of injury and disfigurement, this was something which I had never really considered before. Maggie -

Some feed back: Lovely evening. It was so nice of Louisa to take the time to spend an evening with us. Interesting to hear how Louisa did the research for the book. And there were some poignant stories from Louisa and others about how their families were affected by the First World War. -

Oops, Sorry I forgot to say a big thanks to Sheila for bringing her bits & pieces from the war, that really was the icing on the cake of a brilliant meeting. Perhaps you could send me some feed back which I will pass on to Louisa. All the best and hope to see you all in November. Till then, Chick. PS Teresa I hope Helen enjoyed it, I was a bit worried she didn't hear too well. -

Ok that looks like theft, I would have knocked on the door to ask. There is a bit of a difference between some books, an old microwave, plates and so on and a car? People do leave things to be taken often with no note. We often leave stuff with no note as do many other people. Hardly theft. Very noble. Will this healthcare infrastructure help the Rohingya if they are ever allowed back?
