  1. thanks katgod. ;-)
  2. Oh yes forgot to mention on Babycentre in the 'four month old third week' etc bit they have a Let's play section with a couple of suggestions for games for each week of baby's development. Sometimes they're dire but occasionally there's a gem of an idea in there.
  3. Hi Saila we're in exactly the same boat, my Little Man is 4.5 months and bored with play gym etc. He loves standing too and I find I spend endless hours propping him up under his armpits so he can bounce on mummy's trampoline tummy!! We invested in a Bright Stars activity centre thing (a poor man's Jumperoo), this does entertain him and most importantly allow him to play, stand and bounce unaided for 10-15 mins at a time giving my arms and tummy a rest. He also loves his door bouncer which again frees my arms and belly for 10 mins! In addition to these things, he has an activity triangle and stacking cups which entertain him for short bursts. I try and make hanging out the washing fun (the knickers, socks and bra game - it seems to make him smile), but other then that, we count the ducks and geese in the park most mornings (and sometimes go back to check they're still there in the afternoon) to give us both some fresh air and a change of scenery.
  4. Sounds good to me. I don't think Heber Road (or my wall) can possibly take any more cars, parents and kids at drop off and pick up times.
  5. Does this mean 80 more mum's and dad's sitting on my front wall every day at drop off and pick up times?!
  6. Hi All, I've had quite a lot of interest!! I'm going to give London Ambulance a call tomorrow and try and get a date set that suits the first 6 people that contacted me. I'll also enquire about maximum numbers and I'll let you know missse22 and candp. Hopefully we can squeeze you in too. I'll let you all know how I get on. Px
  7. I'd be interested in the London Ambulance one and am happy to offer up my home if there's 5 others that want to join me.
  8. Fantastic news! I'm pleased it's working. You can stock up on NUKs in Lloyds. The 240ml glass bottles are ?5.49 each.
  9. Thanks for the advice everyone. I will put in a call tomorrow morning followed by a well worded email cc'ing in all the key people and their superiors. Wish me luck!!
  10. Thank you, that is what I thought too. I didn't really want to go in all guns blazing but following some unfortunate events just before I left this really is the final straw!
  11. Does anyone know how long a company legally has to consider an application for flexible working on return from mat leave? Google gives me quite a few contradictory answers on this. I have chased and chased my application with the HR department who keep telling me they haven't been able to pin down my line manager, it's the Easter holidays so no one is around to deal with it etc etc. It's now been 9 weeks and I just need to know where I stand one way or the other! Thanks Princess
  12. I have a spare empty old fashioned style basket one you can have if you want it's not that small though. We got a lovely Emma Bridgewater 4 person picnic set as a wedding present but one of the plate holders was a bit broken so they sent us a replacement basket but never took the slightly faulty one away. If you're interested you're welcome to come take a look.
  13. Sure, I've a 150ml you can try for a few days but will need back. PM me and we can arrange getting it to you.
  14. That's the one brand I don't have I'm afraid. My little one was 4 months yesterday and is on the 0-6 month NUK teats. In Avent teats number 1 was fine for water but too small for formula so he briefly took milk through a number 2 before deciding silicone just wasn't his bag!
  15. I was one of the other forumites who started a thread similar to this one just before Easter. A few days on, we have had amazing success with a NUK bottle and latex teat. We also sit the little man in his chair facing us to feed him, so there's no boob in the vicinity and it's a totally different experience to his 'special cuddles' that he gets 3 times a day. The other tip is if the little one does kick off leave it at least 20 mins before you crack and offer breast so they don't get too crafty! Good luck and if you need a selection of bottles cups and teats, I have pretty much one of everything Lloyds stock! Princess x
  16. I was given one as my leaving present from work and Willwriter is right it's surface clean only. A pain in the neck as it's frequently getting dribbled on and seems to be made of a fabric that attracts carpet fibers, dust etc.
  17. Thanks to everyone who has pm'd me and for the advice above. As Mr P is normally at work for every feed it's been a bit tricky to try to arrange to have someone else here to try and coax him into a bottle at 10am every day. However, as we have a long weekend ahead of us Mr P will be on duty in about an hours time for the next 4 days! We have a variety of formulas, an assortment of bottles, cups and teats and all the time in the world so fingers crossed, we will get there. Thanks again Princess
  18. My son is now 16 weeks. He has always been a very hungry, exclusively breastfed baby. I always thought I was a bit 'knitted yogurt' and breastfeeding would be right up my street but I have to confess to my surprise it is not an experience I have particularly enjoyed. We have overcome some nasty bouts of thrush and frustrating attempts at expressing and after 4 months and getting my son to a healthy 15llbs, we have decided it's time to move him on to formula. The problem is, he is no longer accepting a bottle! Up until 9 weeks he would take the odd bottle of expressed milk from either Mr P or myself but I then struggled to keep up with the Little Man's appetite so opted to do every feed from the breast as expressing just became a bit of a faff. I have tried various teats (interestingly he will take water from an AVENT no.1 teat). This morning, he seemed interested in the AVENT magic cup having a few slurps of formula before becoming suspicious and rejecting it again. If anyone has any tips as to how I can make formula more appealing please can you let me know. I would love to crack this before we move on to solids (which I don't think will be too far off as he is so curious about what's on our plates and is grabbing at everything)! Thanks Princess
  19. I am 1 day overdue today. Still pretty mobile all be it at snail's pace so lots of walking, raspberry leaf tea, fresh pineapple and curries on the agenda for me in the next couple of weeks.
  20. I too found this system at MG didn't really work for me. I have transferred to the Forest Hill Road Surgery as a result. I have been very impressed with them to date.
  21. "Yes" don't give them bread and milk but if they do need food (and it sounds as if they might not) then cat or dog food (the type you get from a tin not biscuits) is ideal. I'd say if they don't look distressed and are just snuffling around in daylight they're probably ok, just curious!
  22. We've just had a further conversation with Clapham and they have explained the guys from G&B ED were hoping to have things resolved via their solicitors this evening but they haven't heard any more in Clapham at this time. A very helpful chap in there has said he'll keep us posted and has agreed to sort us out if G&B ED dont make any progress.
  23. Does anyone know how to contact them? We have placed our wedding drinks order with them and put a hefty deposit down. We've called the Clapham branch but they couldn't really help us.
  24. Spadetownboy, I think that is a little unfair. I had tried to take self diagnose and prescribe rather then burden an already stretched NHS. It was only when the pharmacist (medically trained as far as I know) suggested I saw a GP I felt I should possibly make a doctors appointment. I don't mind talking to a clinician (although I would still like to know what one is) if that's the rule. However, my job means my availability is quite limited during working hours and it was exceptionally frustrating to miss my slot and go back to square one. I do feel, whilst I don't mind talking conjunctivitis over the phone in a completely open plan office (no quiet rooms or offices), I might be a little more reluctant to talk about more 'intimate' problems in front of my team when I get the call from the clinician!
