  1. I shop online at tesco - switched from sainsburys because I find tesco points useful for days out If you get a Tesco credit card (and pay it off fully every month so no interest) you can get points on all your spending on it. The range of stuff you can redeem them on is great isn't it and can be up to 4 times face value. We shop either Tesco online or Asda in person and spend as little as possible. How it all adds up, even with a trolley full of value labels, is frightening.
  2. Re getting out of the house- it always feels like one more thing needs doing (feed, change) but I always find that once we get out my son (and couple yrs ago daughter) was perfectly calm and happy, usually went to sleep and I felt so much better. Plan very simple outings to somewhere with chairs or benches eg a walk in the park followed by coffee in the cafe (take fav book/web phone). You may well find that the fresh air helps your baby to sleep for a couple of hours till you get home, rather than the constant feeding that often happens when you're couped up inside.
  3. Hi Strawbs We had our wedding reception in the goose green centre and it was lovely. We got caterers in who got the tables ready aswell. you're not allowed to play music on a stereo but they have a piano and little stage. Our daughter was Christened at the church too and we had tea and cake in the foyer of the centre afterwards. I think you might be able to rent that bit separately. http://www.stjohnseastdulwich.org/
  4. They usually sing 1 or 2 Christian songs along with the usual wheels on the bus etc at the end. Other than that no, just a normal, though especially friendly, playgroup.
  5. Hello fellow night owls. My little one seems almost ready to unlatch after constant feeding since about 11pm! Good grief!
  6. Re:The vaccination is no longer administered via the 'muti-headed' needle of years ago, I remember the multi headed needle used to test if you already had antibodies. Was the injection one multi headed too? Re: , if a child under the age of one contracts it they are at increased risk of developing TB meningitis, which obviously can be serious, hence the current programme being directed at this age group. When i read up on it before my daughters bcg I understood from the literature provided that the vaccine is most effective the closer to birth it is given and that was the reason.
  7. That sounds nice. Can you stay in the private bit for more than 45 mins?
  8. I'm in the same position, second baby 3.5 months old. Sorry I have no helpful advice as taken easy way out and am co sleeping. I am less exhausted than 4 wks ago when we started, but I am a bit worried about how we get him out of the bed again.
  9. Re Our previous buggy (Baby Jogger City Mini) failed quite spectacularly Hi. Please could I ask about this. I am mostly only using my bj for my baby now, but my older daughter, who is almost exactly your sons measurements, occasionally goes in it. Would you recommend avoiding her going in it any more?
  10. No Sorry, I think my ds will be using it for a couple of months yet..
  11. Yes I am using a graco in the city mini, it fits in nicely.
  12. I'm using a graco soft Carrycot meant for the graco quatro travel system in mine. It fits really well. The wedge makes it lay flat (phil teds cocoon doesn't have one so baby would have head below feet if you want them facing you). You clip it to the D rings in the buggy. Our 3 month old is v snug in it and as you know city mini great to stear with 1 hand so you can keep hold of toddler with the other. You can buy it separately at toys r us for about 40 pounds (order online and collect at old Kent road store or have delivered).
  13. Our daughter and her friends enjoyed the simple excitement of her 3rd birthday party at home recently, just as much as they did her 2nd last year. Like you said, its also a nice chance for parents to have a sit down cup of tea/cake and chat. For us we are trying to make the most of her being impressed with balloons and party bags from the pound shop and a bit of music on the stereo, as the time when she turns her nose up and demands an entertainer and venue will come soon enough.
  14. Hello, Sorry only just seen your posts. Yes, as you've discovered Amott Rd is open during school term time. My little one loves it and wanted to go this morning!
  15. Robert Doherty at 134 Lordship Lane (up soup dragon way) does them with no fuss for a good price. He's a lovely photographer and v friendly so after meeting him for a passport pic you may find you want to use him for a wedding or family potrait. 02086136113
  16. Bee- I wonder if the doctor would prescribe colief for you, children's prescriptions are free.
  17. Aceface "disappointed by the lack of enthusiasm, support and concern the threat of this closure is having." As you can see from the links to previous threads written before you discovered this, there is much enthusiasm, support and concern from people who, like you, are now awaiting an update.
  18. Sorry, just reread your post and not sure I answered it. What I meant was any system is probably ok if you just tell them how to do it, why its important and then closely supervise.
  19. We show our lo how to hold cd carefully with fingers on edge and through hole then closely supervise putting in. She can obviously then press the buttons required. We also remind her that cd must be held like this or it won't work anymore. Works pretty well as holding is closely monitored and she wants to do it well.
  20. All Saints church in peckham near train station. Two sessions, 10-11.15 and 11.15-12.30.
  21. Hi Crystal. We haven't had it as bad as this but our daughter did recently go through a stage of sucking fingers during day much more than usual. I tried not to give it too much attention but occasionally very gently asked her to save the sucking for bedtime and more often reminded her to suck gently (fingers had got a bit sore). She's doing it less now and I don't know if this helped or not. It was one of a number of behaviours that started with the arrival of her little brother and it seems that giving it very little attention has made it one of the shortest lived. (or maybe it just stopped anyway, who knows!)
  22. Hello Bee. My first baby fed like you describe, in v short chunks, as breast feeding just seemed to send her to sleep. Is your little oone a sleepy feeder? I found various ideas for keepiing awake whilst feeding (eg strip off clothes so there colder, tickle feet etc) you could do some googling for more ideas and try them out. The only one that worked for mine was to put her down as soon as she stopped actively drinking then pick up again when she woke (usually 1 min later) . Sorry you are having such a hard time, it is a different level of hard work/exhaustion when you have 2 isn't it.
  23. Usually use Tesco with no problems. If I am very organised I use Asda, you have to wait longer for a delivery slot but will prob save some money.
  24. Hi all. Does anyone know of any language or martial arts classes, age 3+, on week days during the day?
