  1. It's a long shot, but is anyone on the 63 going to kings cross now. Would have left ED around 7am, so quite close to the terminus by now. If so, please could you keep an eye out for a pale grey school sweatshirt with a round, dark blue badge stitched on the front left. Thanks 👍
  2. I regularly walk along the Greendale; the footpath between there and Sainsbury's; and the AstroTurf/park and always feel safe. That's just me though.
  3. The nursery only opened in the last 10 or so years. Before that I'm pretty sure it was just a private home.
  4. I understand it was the last remaining building from 4 farms, which were bought out to create the park in Victorian times. More space than just the common was needed for the many people who would come out of London for leisure on the weekends. I believe it's just a private property. The nursery isn't a 'community' project, just a private company.
  5. A local allotment might take a few, to make bird scarers.
  6. I don't know what school they go to, but many state secondaries have loads of interesting and free after school clubs.
  7. Does anyone know why someone might hang a dead jay by a noose (head covered with a little hood) from the roof of their house? We were pretty disturbed by seeing it on a local house this morning. By this evening we could just see that it was resting up in the guttering. Could there be a sane reason for this?
  8. I've just spoken to a council worker cutting grass next to Goose Green playground. He explained that for No Mow May they cut the 'common areas' of grass and just leave the 'meadow areas' (eg inside the small wooden fences at the edge of Goose Green). I'm sure I remember it all being left last year?
  9. Sadly there's couldn't be any no mow May on the very large plot of the park opposite the school, now being prepared for Gala. The verge outside the school was mown the same day as that was, so the council mowers may have just done it all at the same time to be efficient, or the school may have asked them to come over the road and do it whilst they were there.
  10. I was happy with the lady in Zenoria as well and I think I understood her to say that she would be able to take an NHS referral if you asked your GP to send it to her.
  11. Recently my 14 year old really enjoyed an afternoon at the Barbican. There were quite a lot of young people (perhaps students) hanging out in the open plan areas ground and first floor (some practicing for a play which she found very cool) and the amazing library well populated with all ages reading, studying, browsing the shelves etc.
  12. What was the email when you received lbsmith73? More recent posts say that the 6 days are now approved.
  13. I had a wonderful surprise today. Firstly I spotted a jay; then it flew to a nearby branch and turned out to be one of a pair and then I realised that just in front of them was a woodpecker! This was on the footpath through from the football club to the Greendale. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get a picture!
  14. Do you know who should have got that email? I objected via Southwark but didn't get it. Thanks. Also, thanks for the reminder about objecting to the licence application as well. Does anyone have any suggestions as to wording?
  15. Thank you very much, both. I didn't imagine it then. I'll ask next time I'm in Sainsbury's.
  16. Is there a bin for recycling small electric items at the junction in Dulwich Village? I thought I saw one a while ago, but can't see it on street view. Thank you in advance.
  17. We got post yesterday! Three Christmas cards which were sent second class 3 weeks ago, along with several bank statement type items. Exciting!
  18. Often of a morning I hear a flock of starlings chattering in trees near Peckham Rye Park and there are sparrows to be heard in the various front garden hedges. I regularly see a robin and wren on the footpath through to the Greendale and in spring we get blue tits nesting (near the park).
  19. Well, information for anyone partaking next year: 5.30-6.30 was great for littleys and slightly older alike and by about ten to seven a lot of houses had run out of sweets. Quite a few young teens who'd made a real effort with their costumes were setting out around then, however, so I hope they had some good luck. Thank you so much to all the hospitable folk around the area, who were so welcoming, generous and fun.
  20. What time are people trick or treating today?
  21. Thanks Tasha1 I'd missed that announcement. (Going to spend a couple of hours feeling sorry for self now before breaking the bad news to the family).
  22. It looks like it is going to be in the park after all (not on the common). People are busy marking out the area opposite Harris boys and looking on Gala's own website this morning, it says it's in the park. Does anyone know when/how it was changed back from the common to the park?
  23. Are the 2 hearts attached by that yarn at the top?
  24. For a while Charter ED used the field next to it on the opposite side of the footpath. I'm glad they don't still have to, as that field seems to be the sump of the area and when regularly run around on was supremely muddy and slippery.
  25. At least one local primary use it for their sports day. Up until the last month I've seen the groundsman there almost daily, which fits with the push not to mow during this period. Early on misty mornings you can often see foxes relaxing there.
