Has anyone engaged a french tutor for very young kids?
sunbob replied to Norfolkvillas's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think that whichever lessons you choose, group or individual, the difference will be made by talking with them about and singing/listening to the songs etc in between the lessons. Also, at that young age the language is soaking in a different way I think; so whereas an older child or adult student may come out saying 'today I learnt X & Y' a small child may not be able to tell you much about their lesson but may well confidently join in with basic conversation and songs when they return next week. -
Would you take this quick survey for me?
sunbob replied to Sally81's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Sorry, I found myself unable to fill in the questionnaire because there was no option to choose an 'other' category for any of the questions. -
There is a party invite with your name on it from one of your Goodrich Nursery friends from last year! Please pm me, thank you.

So, does it matter how you grade your primary choices?
sunbob replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I think the only time it really matters is if there is a real chance you will be eligible for 2 schools. Then you need to think carefully which is your favourite and put it first. -
Advice please: car seats for 9 year old twins
sunbob replied to janehuntglass's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If they are under 135 they just need a booster each (like a hard thick cushion you place on the seat and use the normal seat belt). In halfords (old Kent Rd or brixton) you can get their own brand for around ?6 (a bit naff) or little tikes for about ?15. -
There are hives in one tree hill allotments too. Maybe you can contact them via the allotment's association?

Thoughts on summer (5s and under) workshops
sunbob replied to lovelyrita's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We always enjoy being able to stay out later with the long summer evenings. I think it would be great to have something to fill up a bit more of the day before bed time. -

We are all human beings, let's show love to one another where we can :) (Sorry, very soppy and nothing to do with the thread). -
Does anyone know of any full day ones please? I've found a couple of local schemes which start as young as 3 but they only offer a half day at that age (Fit for Sport and Artastic).

My Experience at Harris Academy East Dulwich
sunbob replied to clicka's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It's Francesca not Francis. The school was established by and named after a female. -
In terms of educational benefits, each nursery is different in their approach and you should definitely visit and do individual enquiries into each that your interested in. The big difference between state and private nurseries is the hours. State school nurseries generally do either 5 three hour morning slots a week, 5 three hour afternoon slots a week or 2.5 school hour days a week. A private nursery will generally be open approx 8am-6pm Mon-Fri and you can pay for the days you want (some allow you to pay for half days eg 8-1 or 1-6). The other difference is ages of children, school nursery is offered for 1 year (sometimes 1 year and an extra term or two) before your child goes to school. Private nurseries usually take babies (eg from 6 months) upwards to school age.

Peddler restaurant in peckham, child friendly?
sunbob replied to sunbob's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thank you for the replies. Is there enough space between tables say to take a child for a little walk around if they needed it, or a play area? -
Hello. Has anyone been here please? It looks lovely but I'm just wondering if it will be practical for our lively little ones. Thank you.

I say moderate because > nothing will work like decent, consistent good > quality sleep in my opinion I was starting to believe that my skin would never look any better round the eyes, that although it's definitely lack of sleep causing problems my age meant it couldn't get better. This morning, however, I have hope again! A Very long pre-mother's day lay in (have to get up early tomorrow) has done wonders I thought were no longer possible and I'm quite nicely plumped under the eyes!!!

Hamster - delight or disaster?
sunbob replied to BabymassagewithLouie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I briefly had a hamster as a child. It was too noisy at night and had to be moved out of my bedroom. I tried to make a run for its playtime in the evenings but my choice of the paddling pool was soon chewed through. Unfortunately I decided to feed it some of my Easter egg and it died soon after (not sure if directly linked). -
On the subject of not upsetting her going back to pull ups. Our daughter tried from age 5 - 5.5 and was just not ready. My other half came up with the idea of saying to her, start using pull ups again and have a chart. When we've ticked off 5 dry pull ups in a row in the morning try without again. Luckily she was very keen on this idea and didn't get upset. 6 months later now and we've only ever had 2 in a row and those few and far between.

I've noticed these new 20 limits lately too and I think they haven't quite got some of the signage right yet. I drive south over London bridge once a week at a time of night when you can often safely reach the 30 limit on the city side. It's rather a surprise when you reach the middle of the bridge and it suddenly changes to 20!
