Prams, number 63 bus and aggressive driver!
sledge replied to ClareC's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi This has happened me before! I always ask permission to get straight on in the middle - park pram and then go up and swipe my card. Most of the time this is OK. There are some very stroppy drivers out there. My husband is in a wheelchair so if we are travelling as a family - one pushchair and wheelchair it can be tricky. We once had a situation when the driver would only let one of us on despite there being space on the bus for both of us!! My husband got on anyway and refused to move, and claimed disability inequality. -
Ah fantastic thread!!! First time around it took about 7 months to get figure back.....this time around I'm 7 months post-birth and still 1/2 stone heavier than pre-pregnancy. I'm not even going to describe my flabby arms, legs or muffin top!!!!! I too need to do some exercise!

Hi I have a baby who is 6 months old and also has silent reflux. I weened her at 5 months following our consultants advice / insistence! She totally refuses a bottle so I am exclusively breast feeding (of which she recently became very fussy about and screams a lot during feeds). Personally I would: 1) check medication as the dosage may need adjusting according to your baby's weight. 2) start weaning (even if it is only baby rice) Teething is probably an issue too! Good luck xxx

Hi Everyone, I know there has been a million discussion on costs of hiring a nanny / nanny share etc but often it just states the hourly rate. I was wondering if anyone has a sole nanny for 3 days per week, and how much it costs per month including tax and NI etc. I'm more than happy for people to PM if they would prefer. Alternatively if you have a full time nanny, I can always try and pro-rata it to get a very realistic idea of costs. Many thanks in advance.

I think Snowsfield Primary in SE1 (near London Bridge station) also specialises in Special Education needs. Good Luck

sledge replied to paps's topic in The Family Room Discussion
It is called "Sure and Firm Foundation Nursery and Pre-school" -
Ah I was looking for a Friday activity - can't make this Friday but will try and pop along next week. I have a 5 month old so it sounds ideal.

From what I heard from a friend who phoned - it is being run by the church, and there is no known start date as yet. I think they are taking names. -
Fuschia - congrats on your pregnancy. How old are the twins? Sounds like you might have your hands full. Good Luck. xxx

Working 4 days a week: Mon vs. Fri off?
sledge replied to amydown's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hey I take Mondays off but am still entitled to bank holidays so these get added to my annual leave - it works out great for me as it increases my AL and means nearly an extra week off. I like working Fridays as I don't feel guilty when I have to leave on time....because everyone else leaves on time on a Friday! In the week people often work late so I feel a bit guilty rushing out of the door. I would check with your employer re: bank holidays as if you are not entitled if you don't work on a Monday, then I would definately work Monday to make sure I got them! -
Is it ok to pop along for a drink?

how to stop teat clogging up with gaviscon??
sledge replied to Ko's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You can also buy some teats especially designed for thicker formulas - they stock them in Lloyds pharmacy. -
HI there is a nursery called Blossoms which is in Dunstsns road (east dulwich side of the rye). I think the nursery is open during term time only so would suit your needs, and is only about ?35-40 per day. It is small and very nice. Unfortunately, it didn't suit my needs as I needed care during the holidays but it might be worth a look. Good Luck

HI Everyone, Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I've bought some Aveeno to start with, and will work my way through recommendations if it doesn't work. The edges of my fingers are cracked so I will also try the cotton gloves, and lip balm solution. Sledge

Hey, I seem to be forever washing my hands after changing nappies and taking my toddler to the toilet, doing hand washing and dishes etc and my hands are really really dry and actually quite sore. Can anyone recommend a really good hand cream that does miracles???? Thanks for your advice. Sledge

toddler being allowed to pee in the street...
sledge replied to SCSB79's topic in The Family Room Discussion
So is it acceptable for our dear little toddlers to pee by trees in the park? Me, thinks so! Sadly my little one was somewhat shocked by my suggestion and despite "trying" he couldn't go, and so by the time we got to the toilets in the park, he had indeed wet himself. -
With a Bugaboo Bee I doubt you'd need a second pram? We bought a Maclaren Quest as our second pushchair, and have a bugaboo for the first pram. I love my Bugaboo, and use it all the time unless we're going long haul on holiday, or when I was commuting to / from work.

HI Anna JAGS and Alleyns are both selective schools, and therefore I don't think they have nurseries that link to them directly. Re: nurseries, you may want to consider a pre-school?? Dulwich village pre-school, DUCKS, the Villa, a montessori (various around) - many have waiting lists though. Good Luck Sledge

Hi I have a little boy who will be starting pre-school from 0900-1500 in September, and have just had a baby girl who is now 8 weeks old. I will be returning to work in December / January for 3 days per week and am concerned about childcare when I go back. Unfortunately I will not be able to afford pre-school fees and a nanny to look after my little girl, and pick up my son from school. Does anyone know whether or not it is possible to find a nanny who would be willing to be part of a nanny-share arrangement as well as pick up a 3 year old from school and look after all 3 children from about 3.30pm until 6pm? Does this type of arrangement happen? If not, how do people manage the school situation? Unfortunately after school club is not available until they are older. I would appreciate any advice that people might have to offer! many thanks in advance Sledge

Husband help needed -what would be a great gift - after birth?
sledge replied to Rook's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My husband bought me an eternity ring. I was delighted. I think it is incredibly kind of you to think of a little present for your wife. It isn't sexist - just kind. Good Luck.
