I don't mourn a LL curry house closing down because....
Mick Mac replied to DovertheRoad's topic in The Lounge
Curry houses are, for Lordship Lane, a bit like chicken shops The less you have reflects a general gentrification and a move towards more varied food options being available. I don't bemoan the loss of any of the old ones really. -

That's disappointing as it was good the one time I tried it. excellent trip advisor rating too https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g186338-d10868451-r451931662-Xoco_Bar_Grill-London_England.html

Interestingly, the one key word you have not used is racism. Don't forget that this word was used in the original title which was then changed by Admin to remove the word. Hence the debate.

Unfortunately we have just had one installed, after years without one, part of BT bundle. Very irritating.

I think Eddie Jones has lost a lot of respect over his response to this. To say: "Those are the rules and we adapted much better in the second half" would have been a better response. I honestly thought rugby, unlike football, was above all this whinging. If you want to push for a rule change, do it quietly through the correct channels, not through the media. I also think England could have done without this. It's going to provide future opposition with a lot of powder.

So far, from your comments I'm taking the view that you are simply not someone who likes to discuss matters in detail. It's only by discussing these things in detail that people develop an understanding. And behind every law there is a history of events and a detailed discussion that gave rise to the law in the first place, and further development of the law. You clearly did the right thing to see if the victims were ok. In which direction did you expect the thread to go?

I'd be interested to know what it was that evidenced/made the assault on you racially aggravated. Was it a comment they made about country/skin colour or something else? As opposed to "probably" being racially motivated, which is different and difficult to prove. As an aside, I found it amazing how many people on EDF didn't think the Jeremy Clarkson "lazy Irish **** " assault was racially aggravated, yet calling someone a terrorist, with no mention of country or race, is.

Great movie. Saw it by chance when I was about 12 and a few times since. Also saw it at the theatre with James Bolam. Not a patch on the movie though. I'd say the movie should teach us not to make quick judgments and assumptions. Analyse and test what's presented to you before you jump on any bandwagon.

In an emergency please dial 999.? This clearly has a country/race angle to it alongside the terrorist comments. If you look at what Peckham Ryu said above, with this one you are moving into provable racist territory.

It's a big presumption to call this racism. There is no obvious racism in the comment - therefore you are making an assumption based upon what you think the caller might have intended by his comment. That's hard to do. If anyone had spoken to the person who called out we might then have had some follow up basis for the racism accusation. Not that id recommend that necessarily. But he/she might have tripped him/herself up trying to justify the shout/comment. I agree it's a horrible incident but am not surprised that the title of the thread has been amended to reflect the facts rather than the perception.

Yeah - bit hasty maybe, as I see the Munchies are only mid table in Germany, despite Celtic making them look good in the CL. Anyway, we will see......

That's good RD I just had a pop on Munchengladbach for the EL at 16/1 on betfair. Seems generous to me.

'Le Chardon' changing hands/being sold
Mick Mac replied to Fitzgeraldo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hilarious that this thread raged on and on with the wrong restaurant name in the title. Meanwhile, I have noticed that the Trip Advisor reviews on Le Chardon have been mostly good recently, with the odd exception. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186338-d719685-Reviews-Le_Chardon-London_England.html Also the management are taking time to respond to Trip Advisor comments. And it hasn't closed or changed hands. -

A month's notice is too much for me to cope with.

Tonight! I hope anyone who goes has a good time and comes back with good reviews. Look forward to hearing about it.

red devil Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What do you mean by 'paid for'?... eh? Salaries - Doctors and nurses are a cost of the NHS, met by UK taxpayers?? Also, if we are servicing the needs of people from all over (if the OP is correct) then we have obviously needed to attract additional staff (from within and without the UK) to deal with the growing number of patients? It's a snowball.
