  1. This is a positive thread Foxy. Please do try.
  2. We are just about to change to BT Infinity from Virgin. Engineer booked for Friday. This is partly because of discounted BT Sports coming with the package - but can I expect better broadband with BT do we think ???? Friern Road.
  3. I think it's DTR politely mocking Quids. Poor old Quids. Neighbouring rivalries.
  4. I was in the car, stopped in traffic just past the roundabout otherwise would have done. I have also done just over two dry weeks so far, and will do a few more days, finishing later this week. Than full steam ahead to Christmas. Good thread - hope people stay on positive only comments for this one.
  5. Gypsy jokes - great - Any leprechaun punching yet? Knowingly offensive - I love that. Opens the mind and educates. Pokes fun at the racists - that's how the defence goes isn't it?

I'd just like to repost my OP from 2012 : "He can do it. And for those who don't want him to win for whatever reason, it will be another 50 years before we see this again. So get behind him"
  8. How's the head Jah? I saw you supping outside the EDT yesterday, and as I'm on a dry November was rather jealous.
  9. Unless it's almost booked up I'd be surprised to see any restaurant turn away a lone diner. If they do I think you should "out" them. It's bordering on discriminatory.
  10. Sorry to hear that Zebedee. The problem with the leaves is that they are not just wet, they are a rotting melch.

Dogs aren't dirty, Can you speak for all dogs? I'm in two minds on the dog thing - I'm not sure about restaurants. Pubs probably its expected, restaurants maybe not so.

  15. Yes, good advice - We also had structural engineering drawings separate from the builders - cost only about ?1000 from Blue Engineering. You know then that the builders will be required to follow those independent specifications.
  16. We had a side return done two years ago and don't recall any particular issues with foundations. Do remember a soil sample though so I guess we were ok. We used PlusRooms - also specialists and hopefully they are not the ones who have let you down.

Unfortunately you will miss out on this fantastic dive bar that I sent to in 2003, as it seems to have closed in 2015. Julia Roberts famously danced on the bar... James Gandolfini drank there when he wasn't supposed to be drinking. http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/real-estate/exclusive-hogs-heifers-close-23-years-article-1.2300233

Try McSorleys old ale house for a bit of spit and sawdust. 😁 Established in 1854 ? McSorley?s can boast of being New York City?s oldest continuously operated saloon. Everyone from Abe Lincoln to John Lennon have passed thru McSorley?s swinging doors. Woody Guthrie inspired the union movement from a table in the front ? guitar in hand, while civil rights attorney?s Faith Seidenberg and Karen DeCrow had to take their case to the Supreme Court to gain access. Women were finally allowed access to McSorley?s in 1970!

I didn't go there, I went to Wolfgang's on Park Avenue and it is the best steak I have ever had, bar none. At the time it had a press article on the wall where Donald Trump named it in his 5 best restaurants in New York. Don't let that put you off.

Its not dangerous any more. That Scottish chap who caused all the aggro has moved.

Sean is the perfect barber and I used to go there on weekends when I had more time. Unfortunately as I work full time it's easier to get it cut in the evening on the way home. I miss my chats with Sean and I hope he is well.

I'd like to add to that. I took my 6 year old son for a haircut there about 6 months ago. For a 6 year old a haircut by a person they don't know can be quite intimidating, especially as our son has generally had a haircut from my mums hairdresser who visits the house. Throughout the whole haircut the guy cutting my son's hair was having a conversation at the top of his voice across the room to the girl who takes the money, about dates and nights out. He didn't say a single word to my son or ask if he was ok throughout the haircut. I felt inclined to go over to my son a couple of times to check he was ok although the barber took no account of this. I think for a child a few words of comfort and encouragement are appropriate to make them feel comfortable. That's more of a "review" than anything connected to the OP - on arrival and leaving they were courteous but on this occasion they could have done much better. Speak to the customer, don't speak at length amongst yourselves, as if the customer isn't there.
