  1. Maybe he could do it three times.

Oh dear - I have put my Germany winnings (from Argie game) on them to win the tournament. Could Paul be wrong for once....
  3. Saw Bob Willis (1980s version) in the barbers on Barry Road. He was there ever such a long time. Sean the Barber had Daizie's hedge trimmers out.
  4. Cheats allowed to prosper and rub it in the noses of the opposition.....very sad. But I accept I'm not getting much agreement here, so there you go. We will agree to differ.
  5. There is some irony there given the current discussion Simon. Although most people on this thread think handling the ball in football is not cheating. I approve of rugby's rule making bodies - they make changes when they think fit and are not afraid to experiment and choose not to adopt rules that don't work. I prefer this to the "warts and all" attitude FIFA allow to prevail in its administration of the rules of football.
  6. Saw Derek Randall in a few shops today - but every time he sees me, he runs out.
  7. Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Geoff Boycott was cutting up curtain material in > Linwood & Searle muttering something about 'line > and length'. He must finish at 7, cos he is now in the Plough sinking pints of Stella. If I were his wife I'd make myself scarce.
  8. Possibly Loz - but also there is a big difference in cheating that directly results in a goal Maradona/Henry and that which is trying to win a foul/have a player sent off. I see the former as more serious. I'm not in the "cheeky chappie tries to get away with it" camp when handball results in a team going out of the world cup. Other than technology/5th official we can't help Maradona moments, but we can do something about the Suarez handball, the solution seems obvious.
  9. Shoot Upson and Johnson once and then Terry twice. Cashley will shoot himself in the foot sooner or later.
  10. Don't know - was a copy and paste from some Celtic website.
  11. Tottenham Hotspur don't have a shirt sponsor for the coming season and there is a chance they will start the season without one, however, the News of the World yesterday reported they are working on a project to acquire different sponsors for each competition they play. TV coverage for Spurs' league, cup and European games all go to different markets. If the club is to maximise shirt sponsorship income it will granularise the product offering into different packages. The same is true for Celtic. Where Spurs lead, others will follow. Eventually.
  12. Agreed I don't know that he would definately have scored, but in rugby it does not have to be definate, just probably.
  13. You are right - that one I cannot swallow. I hate cheating in any sport. The more it impacts the result the more it is inappropriate.
  14. And which 4 players would have got the bullet on Emgland's team against Germany?
  15. Narnia - can't you follow the thread in logical order - Loz and Jeremy are saying this is not cheating, I'm responding. I agree with you there were other forms of cheating in the game, this is one that directly amd obvioulsy prevents a goal. Which for me is wrong and should be addressed.
  16. Saw Chris Tavare walking down LL today, walking very slowly, getting in eveyone's way.
  17. Would Maradona's handball in 1986 or Henry's handball against Ireland be viewed as cheating? I'd say yes. Why is this handball not cheating? It does not excuse the act that there is a punishment in the rules, this is still cheating. Seeking to gain an unfair advantage through illegal means.
  18. I'm convinced most linesen don't understand it.... Especially in Old Firm matches.
  19. A "great" World Cup - not sure I'd agree entirely Matt. I think there have been a scarcity of great matches but the quarter finals has lifted it massively and hopefully there is much more to come. Germany Spain should be good and then to cap it off hopfully the winner will meet Holland in the final. We have not had an exciting final for a while so hope this one is a good one.
  20. I was not referring to you at all Narnia. I don't see an earlier free kick as in any way relevant to the point I'm making. A player handles the ball on the line as he knows the punishment is a penalty and not necessarily a goal. If the punishment was a goal awarded by the referee then the players would not see the same "opportunity" presented by handling the ball on the line. These players currently take advantage of a gap in the rules, which could easily be closed.
  21. At the end of the day guys you are supporting a rule which allows cheats to stop a goal and progress to the world cup semi finals. If you are happy for that to continue then we will just have to disagree. We need to disincentivise players from cheating, not offer them rewards when they do.
  22. LOL ? We will be the judge of that....
  23. Why? the scenarios are not related - What happens to the goal that was being scored but for the handball? A sending off does not result in a goal and a penalty does not necessarily result in a goal either, so the right result is not achieved.
