Local author wins Waterstones book of the year
Mick Mac replied to pablogrande's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I suspect he knows her, goes to dinner parties etc. You can be pretty sure if you have been to someone's house, that that's where they live. Anyway - very well done to the author. I have yet to be invited to any dinner parties round her place. -
What are conratulations?

Probably - to take additional security over your property it has to be a reasonable amount and for smaller amounts they'd probably expect you to be able to pay it off under personal unsecured loan terms and periods.

Charter School East - consultations
Mick Mac replied to @Woodwarde's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I do agree with the coaches, of course its a good idea and keeps the children safe, but successful applicants are now sending our children to a very different place geographically and it takes time out of the childrens day etc - not ideal but I understand a solution had to be found and has been. -

If you fill out a form to choose a school in east Dulwich, its nice when you get your place that you find it to be in east Dulwich. Other people talking about walks to school - that's all fine, as the school was where it was when you applied for it, it didn't move. anyway - I'm half expecting my child will not get a place at this school - so maybe won't be our problem. people stating its a non-issue might find that everyone else may not feel the same way. -

no change to the admissions policy - just a change to where the school is going to be for two years - that was the point - isn't that bad enough? someone suggested the kids could walk it - sorry but they are only 11 years old, its going to be a very long way from some parts of ED -

ok - so for the first two years any successful applicants to this school will need to travel to Camberwell... "Responding to overwhelming community support for the new school, the Education Funding Agency (EFA), working closely with Southwark Council, has secured the temporary use of the former Lewisham and Southwark College campus on Southampton Way, SE5 7EW, close to the redeveloped areas of Burgess Park. A significant portion of the Silverthorne Building and grounds on the Southampton Way site will serve as TCSED's temporary home until September 2018, when the school will move into its permanent home on the site currently occupied by the Dulwich Community Hospital." -

True. He is also targeting extra money from foreign buyers who buy high end property and never intend even to rent them out.

Supporting Celtic under Ronnie Deila is like death by a thousand cuts.

The advantage of cremation is you get to have your ashes spread somewhere nice, or you get to sit on the mantelpiece, where you have probably never gotten to sit before.

SD on buy to let and second homes also, hence his reference to Cornwall. He seemed to be increasing public spending, in lots of areas, but at the same time cutting Whitehall staff, the people who support these measures, by very significant percentages.

I cant see the relevance of trains running on time to the overcrowding discussion? please explain 1) there are more trains than there used to be, and 2) although we used to have to fit through a small doorway to enter/exit, there were no barriers so there were few problems - the barriers hold things up as there are only two or three open each way and that's proved to be insufficient at peak times i also fail to see what extra staff would do - the barriers work perfectly fine - they are just too few to enable the large numbers to enter and exit quickly, without having to queue -

Mick Mac replied to LouiseC's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
They have spent so much on the changes, I very much doubt there will be any budget for further changes. it's a disastrous design. few use the expensive new steps and ramps as they are far away from the only exit, there are more (Clapham) trains now and more crowding issues. 5 barriers is far too few and a complete bottle neck. -
You get 28 days holiday per year - that's whether you work 5 days or 6 days a week. why convert the holiday to number of weeks off - this just confuses things
