  1. If you think of pubs as relaxed licensed restaurants it's easier to understand families going there to socialise. These are no longer places where men go to drink and smoke and bet. Post 8pm pubs revert to places for adults. Which is as it should be. What's the problem? I understand people want children to behave and hopefully in the main they do but I'd rather have an occasional poorly behaved child rather than a poorly behaved adult such as you are likely to cone across in a non family friendly pub. The fact that people judge these spaces as suitable to bring their children means it's passed as a civilised place to be. If you find a pub with no familles on a Saturday afternoon for example then go there. The Castle for example. But it's likely to have failed the parental scrutiny test for a reason.
  2. What an excellent BBC adaptation of the play - just as relevant today maybe as in it's setting of 1912. Having watched it I felt Inspector Goole could be Jeremy Corbyn. Attempting to prick the conscience of a nation. Hats off to the beeb.
  3. When they started running marathons I realised woman could stand for 10 minutes.

And I think she has a point, to some extent LinkedIn is not a forum for comments like that - its not really social media, its business media and any message also I believe goes to the persons email address, hence its a very stupid thing to do in that context. I'd suggest that on Facebook you might get away with a bit of flirty banter, to some extent that's part of the package - although her comments have come back to bite her. The age difference makes it a bit of an inappropriate comment in any event.

  7. I read Lidl are planning to invade the Waitrose heartland. That doesn't include us, does it. Waitrose don't want us and now neither do Lidl. Charming.
  8. if you are going to take a stand, it seems the Daily Mail thinks you have to be whiter than white. Should we expect different legal treatment of comments made on linked-in as compared to comments made on facebook? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3229951/Ooh-la-la-hot-stuff-s-prim-barrister-centre-sexism-storm-said-men-ogled-web.html
  9. I saw that place last week - didn't know it was byo - might give it a go - the bonus being you can bring a good wine to have with the steak!
  10. A different twist is Yama Momo where you can get fantastic melt in the mouth beef, although Japanese style obvs. otherwise I'd say Franklins or Palmerston too, but to be honest there isn't a lot of choice other than that. where did you go in the end and how was it?
  11. Great thread so far.
  12. Wales are still a very good team with or without these players. But Halfpenney is worth a few points over any replacement, I would have thought.
  13. eh - its long gone - it was removed the following day...you can see the damage the fire did to the road.
  14. Ask Charlotte.
  15. I have a ?300 limit for daily cash withdrawals from an ATM. I thought for in branch transactions they do a check of some personal details before handing over cash....
  16. although .... The WRU deny that reports in France have come from them and there is no official word on how long Halfpenny is expected to be out of action. There is also no word on Rhys Webb. A recent statement from the WRU says: ?Further medical updates regarding the national squad will be made when available
  17. JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Looks like Wales have lost Rhys Webb and Leigh > Halfpenny. > is that confirmed?
  18. Ah yes - he did say someone else was welcome to organise Sept - but obviously noone has done so as yet. I'm mostly not available so I'll pass as being organiser.

  22. the Palmerston has a discount on its evening meal if you eat pre cinema, can remember what the time limit is to qualify but its a good idea.
  23. "we'll look after you" is a well worn phrase which often means exactly the opposite.
  24. Wrong format document? What happened to the old fashioned fax machine.
  25. I can wink with both eyes. I can even do it with both eyes at the same time but it's blinking difficult and you probably shouldnt try it without appropriate training.
