  1. Rory has settled the nerves after a bogey start and leads the field on -7. Go Rors.
  2. Indeed HMB, he has second round syndrome. Hopefully not today though.
  3. Couldn't find the old thread, but anyway Can Rory keep it going? Great round yesterday but got the best of the weather.

  5. Fore ....! Sorry that's golf.

I didn't say if, I said once. I'm assuming they will win and I wouldn't be surprised at all by a post election reshuffle. Obviously if they lose the election, the whole reshuffle today has backfired and all sorts of leaderships options and uncertainties arise.
  8. DC line to Gove this morning might be - we respect what you are doing Michael, but you are not box office, in fact your approach, although effective is losing votes - take a break until after the election and once we win we will bring you back into front line politics with a meaty reward. Temporary backwater.

  10. I'm against constant reform of education as I guess everyone is but I'm in favour of Gove's general gist (as it appeared to me at least) that exams/coursework combo had become easier and needed to be readdressed in favour of detailed study and testing. I believe the old fashioned A level approach of going into great detail on a particular subject rather than a generalist level of knowledge on a bigger subject area goes far in life. The message from universities and employers was clear - A levels as they had become had left students ill-equipped for the next stage.

  12. Who is replacing him? Ah - Nick Morgan.... ?
  13. Shame - hope his A level policies remain.
  14. Two days after the World Cup final and Celtic begin their Champions League qualifying tonight in Iceland. That was a short summer break from football.
  15. Celtic represented 4 times :)
  16. In terms of good teams - I'd like to have seen Columbia get past Brazil and that might have made for a better semi final (Germany Brazil was a non event mis-match). They were for me the surprise package and good quality and would like to have seen James Rodriguez in the latter stages. That's my only disappointment as I think the ref helped Brazil on that night.
  17. It's thanks to the Americans that we can go abroad and most people speak "our" language. Otherwise English would just be like German....parochial :) They probably consider us to be a little insignificant country in Europe that happens to also speak their language.
  18. I said the same thing, not deserving of any award. But did think he had a v good first half and a decent overall game - not anonymous. However for me he'd been overall poor for the whole tournament apart from the odd late goal against tiring defences, last night was his big chance and he didn't take it. He'll be hurting more than most today. I wanted him to shine and he didn't unfortunately.
  19. It should not be a shock re broad daylight burglaries. They even break in at night when adults and children are asleep upstairs, which is worse I think. But sorry Sophie for your experience and distress.
  20. I feel some sympathy for the people of chesterfield grove but maybe they should take one for the team.
  21. Otta. I had a think before I posted and wasnt sure how your two yeps were apportioned... We are clear now on the yeps.
  22. Jah might have been in Franklins for too long today to notice the nuances of Messi's performance tonight ;) or maybe just someone who looked like Jah. Eek.
  23. And it was a great goal I thought Otta, incredibly cool finish under the circumstances. Thankfully no penalty shoot out this time and also Messi had a good opportunity and pulled it wide so not cool under the greatest of world cup pressure. Golden boot to James Rodriguez (100/1 thank you) and BBC goal of the tournament and should I thought also have been the Golden Ball winner, Messi didn't have a great tournament I thought and they gave it to him as a consolation.
  24. Great game I thought, some massive battles. Could not look away from the screen. Great winning goal and deserved winners.
  25. To mention complacency suggests they are underperforming. Im not sure that's necessarily the case, two good teams with different strengths.
