  9. malted milk and ginger biccies mmm
  10. I've had "i'll chop your head off" but hey he's only 2 so I imagine by 4 will be pretty similar stuff! this has reduced since monitoring more of what he watches on TV :) (hmm should I admit to letting him watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles now and again LOL)
  11. Just heard about Super Sporty Kids which run classes every Saturday on Peckham Rye - looks great, wish I was 3 again! http://supersportykids.webs.com/ We took our son to Little Kickers and the classes were great fun but he didn't warm to it and they moved from ED community centre to Nunhead so less handy for us...
  12. Cranberry is a preventative according to The Food Hospital (TV prog), I used to suffer with it but eased after avoiding bubble bath, drinking lots of water etc. Natural yoghurt good for cooling, poor little thing hope she gets better soon, nasty enough getting it as a grown up!
  13. You have my sympathy - my 2.5 yr old still needs a daytime nap but since moving from childminder to nursery he has cut them out (too much activity and feels he is missing out!). Now asleep by the time I get him home so whereas I was once bemoaning the fact he wanted 5+ bedtime stories he now dsnt get any :(
  14. I think this area seriously needs better secondary schools, never mind primaries. I would support a further primary school if the evidence is there that places are needed (especially as this area is new nappy valley) but has anyone researched into secondary school needs or are we just all expected to pay for private education or move to the sticks once our children reach 12/13?
  15. Little Kickers is great!
  16. All Xmas presents stolen from Home Start for needy families. Very sad. Please send donations to Home Start, 227 Western Road SW19 2QD Many thanks :) (Tweeted by Local Mums Online but thought I would repeat on here as so many generous locals)
  17. dehumidifier definitely works - they sell small ones that you can add essential oils (lavender and so on) in Health Matters, we find that very good esp during coughs and colds. Also recommend usual cough linctus - taste foul but do work at least temporarily. Hot ribena or honey, lemon & fresh ginger also great for sore throats and coughs and tastes nice too :) Our son coughs more when the central heating is on so try and leave a window open just slightly so the air dsnt get too dry. Hope it eases soon
  18. We should all arrange one!! Wonder if a local hall or pub would be interested in holding an event earlier in the eve before the adults come along... hmm
  19. In addition to above I would go off your gut feeling, they can get the best Osfted report in the world but it's how you feel that matters above all else. We saw one when looking around who had outstanding Ofsted report but when we went to see her she promised to have our son walking by 1 yr old, hosted a playgroup once a week (whereupon it was unclear who would be looking after our son), didn't work summer hols at all (leaving 6 wk gap in childcare for us to sort), had a lounge the size of a bathroom, and a dog who she said was friendly who growled at my husband when let out of the kitchen!! We found the best childminders in the world by complete chance - Sylvia and Inay Rodriques on Muschamp Road. Close to ED station, like stepping into a Blue Peter set each day and the best possible childcare you could get second to you looking after your child yourself. Cannot recommend them more highly :)
  20. As above I would say try and do it gradually - so go down to say morning and night feeds only with bottles during day then cut out one of those and then completely. Kings have excellent advisors on breastfeeding who I am sure could help if you wanted more advice re stopping breastfeeding. Good luck!
  21. Angelcare fantastic monitor tho with hindsight we prob could have just used any on the market!
  22. You have my sympathy, my son was 18 months before he slept through and when I went back to work (8 mnths) most days felt like a zombie having woken 3-4 times through the night and willed my boss not to speak to me for fear of saying something stoopid!
  23. Honor Oak lovely, next ED for definite, quiet but nice shops (and getting better all the time), great transport links and nice parks :)
  24. if you still need advice ring ACAS - free helpline or go on their website
