  1. Does anyone get this done as a matter of course before winter arrives? Don't think I ever have but my brother reported his radiators to be super hot afterwards, and I'm forward planning for the coming cold! Also how much can it be, and is it disruptive?
  2. Guess she has done Camden Market? walking along the river/south bank lots of street entertainers and buskers. City zoo?
  3. How about get in touch with said councillors and plea the case?
  4. Have a wander around Hyde Park and take in the free art available indoors and out. Pop over to Regent's Park and see the outdoor sculpture exib and take a wander along the canal, maybe have a boat ride. Walk either side of the south bank and end up in Somerset House/Courtauld.
  5. Let me know when you're finished, thanks Cella
  6. Anyone have a copy still, maybe shoved in the recycling? Thanks
  7. I started out with the agreement that I clean everywhere apart from lodger's room, and his kitchen mess. In fact, he's cleaner than myself in the kitchen. This was because I wanted to keep to my own standards of cleanliness. Sounds like too much of a pain and I'd look for a new (cleaner) lodger but make it very specific what standard you expect from the next one.
  8. Quick email to Trading Standards? 9. Check out a company called Seakr. They match a carer to an individual.
  10. Quote 'I know this has been discussed on here before, probably more than once, but it seems (and I'm not saying this is wrong) that the charity's priority is to raise funds for its own work rather than to provide affordable items for people who couldn't otherwise buy them.' I would say this is every charity shops aim isn't it? The focus is on funds raised for the cause. It's a side effect that many of the items for sale were on the cheaper end of the spectrum, and so attractive to people on low incomes. But there's no impetus to keep prices very low if you can raise them AND still make your targets.
  11. Doppler effect?

  14. It's a pretty dismal sight anyway, a few travellers might mean something may finally be done about the appalling length of time it's remained empty.
  15. I've seen customers hand a loyalty card or paper money that's been held in their mouth straight to a till operator. Turned my stomach and I told the cashier when I had the chance!
  16. Meetup.com is a great way to meet people and socialise, you can explore London or choose things closer to home.

  19. I popped into the new StC shop in Sydenham Road, junction Newlands Park on Sunday. It's comparable in size to the big one in Lordship Lane but is just furniture/pictures and electricals. Very nicely laid out and some well priced pieces. Some toys also. 30-32 Sydenham Road
