Buy disposable swim nappies (don't throw after, reuse) and probably a costume or nappy cover or washable swim nappy on the top Swim nappies from supermarkets

Bf babies take a consistent amount, think it's approx 25oz in 24h and it doesn't increase with age http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html That would be approx 5oz per feed... My baby takes a bottle of ebm fairly happily but usually 3oz (he is 3m) occasionally 4oz. He feeds every 1.5h hour around the clock atm (!) but I vowed I wouldn;t complain if he EVER bf properly after out tongue tie problems.

Nothing in particulAR. The scholarships are a very clever policy to attract middle class families. Just please don't say the money doesn't come out of the aschool budget, because it does. I speak as a pedantic school business manager!

If the scholarships didn't exist, the lettings income would still be there and the school could spend more on something else. No problem with scholarships per se, but let's be correct about how something like that fits into the school budget.

Fuschia replied to jennyh's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Of course you're not doing a bad job. i had very similar problems with my recent baby (tongue tie and readmission to hospital with high BP for me) even despite having bf 3 children for several years each... and it took us to 6 weeks to establish bf and a lot of tears. You have to look into your heart to know what's best. If you fear you need to struggle on for a bit longer to try to get the bf sorted, then go for it but if you feel you have reached your limit, noone will judge you for it. us mothers are our own harshest criticsa, but we're not superwomen xx -

But a school is at liberty to provide additional tuition if it wants to and can afford it

How come anything I post in the Family Room about the Florence gets deleted?
Fuschia replied to Fuschia's topic in The Lounge
Which has been lounged and is now full of irrelevance I wanted other parents views on highly salted food being served to children. Nhow can I have this discussion then? FM members don't tend to check the lounge. How do I get this discussed by FM room members then? -
former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Fuschia replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
James, the buikding site on the corner of Barry RD and Underhill has had a huge concrete mixer sticking out into the road each time I passed yesterday and today, not allowing space for buses to pass and making it pretty impossible for cars. Surely this isn't allowed? -
The Florence, Herne Hill - getting new baby play room
Fuschia replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I am going to post to this old thread and watch to see if it's lounged or deleted as posts I made earlier today seem to have been! Had a very very salty meal at the Florence today, and oru complaint was met with indifference. I would't recommend the food there for children at all, if it's typical. Ours wouldn't eat it, yet we still got charged ?4 per meal, in one case it had only started as a mushroom and a bit of toast in the first place! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/list.php?30 -
I wan't really in the mood to make a fuss, having complained politely about the salt and been ignored I just wanted to get out of there tbh.. the bill was ridiculously high for what we had but I couldn't be bothered to argue.

We tried the Florence today and although the decor is lovely, everything we were served was heavily over salted and there was no apology when we complained.

Had a very disapointing trip to the Florence today :( http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,632245

We tried the Florence today, having seen posts about it being child friendly. Unfortunately we ended up feeling rather ripped off. First impressions of the pub were good, it's very nice inside. Unfortunately even at 11.45 almost all the tables in the childrens area were reserved so we had no choice of tables... would have been nice to sit where we could see the playroom opposite. The playroom was chilly and felt rather neglected ... no chalk for the blackboard, no paper, dried up pens, toys with no batteries. We hadn't realised the lunch menu doesnt start till 1. So we chose breakfasts. The waitress said no veggy sausages left. They could do mini breakfasts for the children, no price on the menu for that. Our veggy child asked for mushrooms on toast. When the food came, the mushroom on toast turned out to be one half of a flat mushroom, liberally sprinkled with salt and pepper, the child couldn't eat it but he had the slice of toast. The other children's meals were also very salty, everything in fact was far too salty, even I couldnt eat the tomatoes for eg... they also tasted fishy as a "free" fishcake had been put on to replace the veggy sausage.. unfortunately I don't eat fish (most vegetarians don't) and I didn't welcome the taste of fish on my plate. The waitress brought a free bowl of chips instead these were very salty too but it's not so unexpected with chips, at least. I ased for a cup of tea, was told only earl grey was available (when it came it was ordinary tea after all) We told the waitress the food was all too salty, at home we add salt to the food only at the table, not a large amount used in cooking.. especially for the children. Mushrooms, tomatoes, scrambled egg were all too salty. She said she would talk to the manager, and came back soon afterwards to say he would tell the chef. As the children wouldn't eat their meals, we asked for another bowl of chips... when it came it was as salty as the first. We were surprised there was no real apology over the too salty food, so we asked for the bill. No discount was offered... I was a bit shocked to see the child's mushroom on toast had cost us ?4. Most expensive slice of toast he has ever had for breakfast, that's for sure. I don't think we will go back. We are very disappointed, and our breakfast cost us ?35!

I always thought the advice re cows milk not as a drink meant it was deficient in viatmins etc a baby needs.. but actually unheated milk is hard for them to digest ... so when they state OK in cooking, it means in sauces and things. My twins survived me mistakenly giving them cows milk on cereal etc... but if allergy is a concern it's probably unwise

Changing midwifery practices: 21wks in
Fuschia replied to Ruth_Baldock's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You were planning to be in hospital, Ruth, or homebirth? I think if you leave a CMW practice you won't get onto another one, you would transfer to the hospital midwives. Although usualy you might think doing that means you are more swept up in the system, it sound slike your current CMWs just send you to Kings all the time anyway. Leoni Penna is a dr (consultant) and quite pro choice Katie Yiannous (spelling?) is the SOM I believe.. but I am not sure if she oversees the CMWs or just Kings MWs There are several midwife consultants at Kings, I made a complaint about CMWs and Jill Demilew came to my house to dscuss it. I would suggest a letter to PALS or I have the e3mail for Jill Demilew and Leonie if you would like them... -
He can still be getting enough even if you don't feel full or feel the letdown. There is no reason why your supply would suddenly drop, though it is chicken and egg, if he really wasn't latching, that would affect supply. But if he is sleeping OK, I doubt that. He may be beginning to teeth... a viist to a cranial osteopath would probably be useful

With regard to expressing, you won't affect what is there for him, as the milk you feel in your breasts when you're full is the sugary foremilk.. the milk you produce midfeed when you no longer feel engorged is the high calorie fatty stuff. It's possible that he is less hungry or has got much better at feeding.. my DS1 suddenly stopped feeding for long feeds and cut right down, and in fact little 12 week old baby F is now often having feeds of 5-10 mins whereas before they were all 30 mins plus.. he still does that at bedtime but sometimes in the day he is very fast, and i'm sure he hasn't taken a full feed. Don't judge what he's getting by what you can express. What sort of pump do you have? Does he seem content after these "very quick feeds followed by long chomping" sessions? Is hs estill gaining weight?
