  1. For our twins we have a nipper, it's pretty narrow, not too expensive, very light, suitable from newborn. You'd need to check it for your boot. It goes through any door that wll take a wheelchair. It doesn't have seats that come far forward, some toddlers don't like the way it reclines slightly. I find bus drivers don't let me on with this buggy though. We also had a tandem, Jane powertwin. I don't particularly like tandems, though it does mean the children can't hit each other etc while in the buggy. It obviosuyl goes through narrow spaces. Once the new baby is a few months old, a mclaren twin side by side might be the thing, can't go far wrong with a mclaren! Then there is the phil and ted with the coccoon... I must say the underneath position doesn't look much fun to me, you'd need to consider how long you'd have two toddlers in the buggy.... These buggies fit into shops, on buses.
  2. There is a huge amount of research behind the advice. I certainly wouldn't ignore the FSA advice.
  3. How wide is your door? do you walk much? will it need to be lifted in and out of the car? go on buses?
  4. I know someone in the uk whose grandaughter was seriously ill with salmonella from formula, was on life support. Makes me very cautious.

Although E. sakazakii has caused illness in all age groups of neonates (up to ca 4-6 weeks of age), pre-term or low birth weight infants and those immunocompromised are at greatest risk."

  7. Tou're supposed to scald the powder with hot water (boiled within 20 mins?) to kill dangerous bacteria that can contaminate the formula, so \I don't think bottled water would fulfil that function. Water to drink needs boiling only until 6m.
  8. Last night I had an emergency as my breast pump broke (currently expressing for a newborn who can't feed directly due to a tongue tie) Several mums from the family room offered loan machines and I was able to pick one up at about 11.30pm and express enough to get us through the night! Mind you, the lovely EDF mums live further afield than just Se22... two initial offers of help were from nUNHEAD AND Brockley.
  9. Got one from Saffron in the end, and managed to get sufficient milk expressed by approx 1am! Thanks all!
  10. Saffron, PMed you but am going to head out to cupatea's and pick up hers to tide us over! Thank goodness for the EDF eh?!
  11. is space in inbox now

  14. I might ask MrF to do that. I have had so much contact with the hospital the last 6 weeks, I am exhausted with it.
  15. Due to a tongue tie I have been expressing pretty much 100% muilk for my 3 week old. Lost all my frozen stash recently due to freezer disaster. Breast pump has now given up the ghost (what have I done to deserve all this?) I only have about half of the milk I need to get us through till shops open tomorrow. I have tried hand expressing and managed about 2oz! Anyone have a pump I can borrow, pref electric?
  16. I bought this at work when I needed to learn about Aspergers http://www.teacherspocketbooks.co.uk/display.asp?K=9781903776995&sf1=eh_cat_class&st1=170&ds=Special+Needs&sort=sort_title&pge=teachers&m=2&dc=10

  18. i think kings dental hospital emergency service will see children...?
  19. I could never have imagined leaving son no 1 for so long, but when the twins came along I was forcibly separated from twin I for 6 days at 10m while hospitalised with twin II. Twin I was still bf, I sent expressed milk home for him. He didn't seem to be affected in any way. But more recently I as hospitalised again for 9 days over a fortnight and both twins, at 2 1/2, seemed quite perturbed at various points.
  20. This thread is making me laugh, really!
  21. It's certainly not the case that putting fewer than 6 choices means you get any increased priority for the choices you do put, so you have nothing to lose. Think of it like this: Leave spaces Close your eyes and pop a pin on a random school within a (is it 2 or is it 3 miles?) radius on a map Fill in the space on your list with that school
  22. No, but just to say google is not always your friend and can really prey on your mind, imagining the worst in these kind of situations. Do you think it might help if you arranged a follow up phone consultation with the same GP to ask the questions you want to ask? I am sure if she explained her concerns to you in more detail and the likelihood of it turning out to actually be a real problem, your fears would be more in perspective. Not a nice thing to have hanging over you :-( xx
  23. My 7 yo and I are really enjoying this (though I am an atheist) It does raise some questions about virgin birth, mind you! Is on watch again I'm sure 5 episodes there will be
  24. dulwich and district twins club, there a several sets very friendly, definitely join!
  25. You can choose 3-6 and even accept a place, and still stay on the waiting list for choices 1 and 2.
