  1. Can't believe it! Our 4-5pm shopping hasn't turned up and after holding on the phone for 30 mins and being cut off several times, turns out the van hasn't left the store yet and they won't be able to deliver today at all! So there's no milk, no nappies, no bread.... And they hadn't even realised, as far as I can tell, that the van isn't out and about delivering, and certainly haven't had the decency to call and warn us and apologise! Appalling.

  3. When it became an academy it would have taken ownership of facilities previously owned by Southwark Council. Is it not the case that an academy is required to guarantee continuation of community access? Presumably not.
  4. It's easiest if yuou can erxpress straight into bottles and freeze, so wide mouth bottles may not suit. All my (bf) babies have preferred NUK bottles with newborn latex (brown) teats
  5. no, you can't get a dble buggy into sydenham woods without lifting it over the (high!) fence, i'm afraid.
  6. Onthing I have found incredibly helpful if suffering pg related insomnia is a hypnotherapy relaxation track on my mp3 player.. might be worth a try?
  7. It's always worth sending your CV to local schools then calling to follow it up. Good luck!
  8. There is a lot of demand for this, actually and I think most schools find that the time required to induct, supervise and support volunteers makes it not very cost effective. Sorry to bring bad news. It might be different if you really stand out from the crowd, but most new TAs we recruit now (I am senior manager in a school) tend to be graduates, due to the state of the job market.... You might find a private nursery willing to take on a volunteer... that would give you experience of early years at least.
  9. I did find the D Hosp physios quite good when I finally got to see them.. but you're right, maybe I should just pay to get something done quickly (shouldn't have to though!) Made a complaint via PALS anyway whcih made me feel beter, then the practice manager called me and hey presto a dr called me and faxed the referral (now why couldn't they just do that yesterday am?) so I can call them in the morning hopefully. I am glad I got the name of the not very sympathetic receptionist from yesterday, as I really do want to know why after insisting she could do no more than put me on the system for a tel appt for today, she didn't even manage to do that!
  10. A phone appt can sometimes be quite handy (though you're right they always call at a bad moment) but in this case I am just so cross that despite me virtually pleading with the receptionist uesterday, she mucked things up and didn't even get me on for today!! And don't get me started on the practice manager not ringing back. I find that so rude. I would never dream of not calling people back at work!
  11. It just occurred to me that I drive past it every day I go to work and had filed it in my head for future reference!

  13. There is a walk in GP centre in Peckham you know...let me find it if i can
  14. I had physio over the Summer for joint pain in pregnancy and when I was signed off I was told I'd need to get rereferred by the GP if it came back. Sadly, at 35 pg it has, and Sunday I could hardly move, let alone lift the twins. I don't like to take a lot of paracetemol either. I called DMC yesterday am and got a very unhelpful perosn who said the earliest I could get even a tel appt was this morning, but agreed to ask the practice manager (who is never actually there iME) to call me. Surprise surprise no call. After waiting till 1.30pm today, I called to see where my tel appt had got to, only to be told it was booked for TOMORROW. Hello?! Did the receptionist totally not grasp it was URGENT, and why did she tell me appt would be today. Practice manager still not in. And they "don't give out his email address"(!) (complaints must be in writing) Anyway, I have put in a call via PALS with the PCT complaints people, just hope they can hurry things along. As it took a month and several complaints to get an appt the last time I needed physio I'm not holding my breath it's going to manifest in time to help me out before the baby comes now.
  15. Poor you. These things do happen, my niece had a similar experiencewith hot coffee, she recovered with no ill effects. Hope you can speak to someone. How rubbish the GP can't see him! What surgery is it?
  16. Our heating comes on for 15 mins several times in the night to take the edge off the chill. Otherwise our twins do wake with the cold.
  17. We parked in greenwich yesterday, a fiver, and spent the pm at the maritime museum doing art and playing in the interactive gallery
  18. I do think the Canaries is a bit cold and windy in Dec/Jan Even Egypt isn't boiling (and it gets dark very early)
  19. I've lost respect for a lot of forum posters I'm afraid. Looks to me like people just want to hang out in this thread piling on the s*@t on a dedicated group of workers defending their contracts and fireservice as we know it.
  20. things on at the maritime museum

  25. Of course the FF would step in if they saw the private FF making a mess of things and lives were at risk, they have been saying as much amongst themselves and would hardly call each other scabs for stepping in in those circumstances!
