  1. Lactose intolerance is rare in babies but can develop as we get older, if lactose intolerant even breast milk won't be OK Cows milk protein allergy is more common in babies and is often grown out of.. small amounts of cows milk protein MAY pass into breastmilk but not necessarily... butter is fat, contains only traces of protein anyway... and I think the processing in heating milk to make a sauce, and processing for cheese, may change the structure.. also if he is starting to outgrow the allergy, that would explain why he is starting to tolerate cheese sauce etc... http://www.theallergysite.co.uk/dairy.html http://www.kellymom.com/babyconcerns/food-sensitivity.html http://www.drgreene.com/qa/lactose-free-milk http://www.calgaryallergy.ca/Articles/English/milkallergyhp.htm

  11. I think by age 3 their reluctance isn't really distress, because they do understand what's happening and you will be collecting them soon. I think in part they sometimes just object to the idea of nursery... my son wa svery strong willed and cried for a few months (attending Puddleduck 1 day per week) and then made a fuss almost every day of the first term in the school nursery class as well. In the end I left Mr F to drop him off, it was always much much worse when it was me he had to say goodbye to. There's still an element of that now, he's 7... if he twigs I am working at home he comes up with all sorts of tummy aches and ailments and excuses stay off school... I found while an nursery/minder at aged 3ish he seemed happier if he got to take a toy with him

  19. She would be able to start school in Jan 2011. However, you have missed the date for applications, and will be a kate applicant... best to contact directly all schools within a mile or so to enquire about reception places. The LA is obliged to offer you a place within 3 miles! From Sept-Dec she is entitled to a free 15h place in a school nursery or a private nursery that accepts state funding... but again, it will be very difficult to find a place at such short notice.. Sorry
  20. Nurofen comes with a useful syringe thingy... second the medicine in cheek idea...
  21. SB: you're not rubbish. I think you're just probably used to having more control over things (workwise etc) than you can possibly hope with a baby or toddler. Honestly, mine are far worse... did I post on here about the recent undercoat incident which led me to deliver two paint covered babies to creche, one of which was dressed in a tutu and wellies?!
  22. Ask GP to prescribe paracetemol as a suppository? That's what they use in hospital... Also, try buying a generic paracetemol syrup, being a different flavour might fool him....
