  1. Seconded. They just did our ensuite, nice job and good attention to detail along with good communication (set up a whatsapp group, great idea) and left the place tidy every night. Happy to recommend.

    Daft names

I ended up sat on the train last week with a woman who's toddler was called Arya, "you know, like in Game of Thrones". And worked with someone who's baby Osama became Sammy overnight a few years ago. And we have a young lady at work called Isis. You don't get many Adolf's these days do you?
  5. Thanks. Our room is essentially a zinc box on the top of the house and gets really hot so might give it a go, that price is less than I thought it might be.
  6. Frenchy - who did you get to fit it, and can you give us an idea of how much the system ended up costing?

Because they can and it's quicker for them. Not sure what else you're looking for here tbh.

  9. Started on a Kawasaki KE100 which really was poor but was a start. It broke down and I left it by the side of the road in Weybridge and it still took about 3 weeks for someone to steal it it was that bad. The the police knocked on my door two years later to tell me they found it. Two years later, Police at the door at 11 at night, I was assuming someone had died. Moved up to a KMX125 which I rode up and down the A3 with the throttle on the stop to work and back, followed by a cloud of blue smoke, for a a couple of years. I got stopped coming off the A3 at Hinchley Wood, apparently they'd had reports of someone filtering "at high speed" and thought it might be me. It's only a 125 I said.. Still showed 70 on the clocks though.. Got written off in an accident but I bought it back for no money and got another year out of it before it got nicked. Then an RD350LC, obviously. Good job it seized at a slow speed. 550 Katana. I thought it looked great but it wasn't all that on reflection. My brother sold that along with my bass amp when I was travelling, little sod. R80ST - it had 140,000 on the clock when I bought it and was fine. Although one of the exhaust downpipes did fall off one the A12 one morning as I'd forgotten to boot it in before I set off. Diversion 900s. Probably one of my favourites. 40 mile each way commute made very easy, a labrador of a bike. I was genuinely upset when that one got nicked. Former AA Roadwatch Pan European. A bit big for commuting but great for motorways. Still had the police style stickers on it and single seat, people jump out of the way when your'e on that. SLR650 for a year or so. Nothing to say. Have now been riding a 2001 FZS600 to work and back for the last 3 years with the occasional weekend jaunt and have to say it is a cracking bike. Fast enough for 99% of occasions, comfy enough for a few hours, carbs so nice and simple, heated grips, stainless exhaust blah blah. Great bike. Get one.

Vi-Spring. Cost a fortune, but fantastic mattresses.
  11. A sensible solution would be an area for motorbikes at the front of the lights. Making them sit behind bicycles when they accelerate more quickly is a recipe for conflict, given that in the training bikers get we are told to "make progress" and filter to the front.
  12. Would this leave the developers/owners the option of now throwing up their hands, saying "Oh, well, we tried" and then just building the flats anyway leaving the club without a ground? (Which I'm sure some of us may have suspected as the plan all along..)
  13. Agree it's a shambles. Motorcycles are part of the solution to traffic congestion in London and should be taken more into account. As an example from next week Bank junction will be buses and bicycles only, why not motorbikes? (That whole plan is ludicrous btw)
  14. Didn't you already get knocked back by the Consistory Court?

  16. Well cars are supposedly limited to 20 by law, where does that leave us?
  17. Good choice to skip ER5. Go for the FZS600, trust me on this... Old one with 30K for 1500 quid, job done. Or the SV if you prefer at twin, easier at first.

I ended up with an arm problem when I didn't. and.. Totally disagree on point two. I can read a dial instantly at a glance if the needle is past the mark, without having to actually read it. Your mileage may vary. I'm a daily commuter on an old Fazer600 which is light enough to be great round town, and scruffy enough not to attract too much attention. It also has enough oomph to maintain "motorway cruising speeds" on a bank holiday trip to the coast. Don't buy something you'll be bored with or outgrow powerwise in six months.

  20. Bike thieves for sure.
  21. Maybe they confused themselves when making up names for places? Wood Vale Meadow?
  22. From the cake guy, as you know.
