The cut and paste nature of Justin's post above and lack of reference to the points raised in the intervening posts seems to bear this out somewhat..

In other words I can't help thinking they got it about right. Best say nowt to frighten people it seems to me.

And it would need to be a very carefully phrased announcement to not cause a panic. "Women and children to fruit and veg!" should do it.

  5. Just get the train from East Dulwich to Wimbledon and go from there? Takes about 20 minutes, there's a few direct ones in the morning and evening. Not sure exactly where Wimbledon South is..

  7. Fergie reaction when he lost his balloon - gawd knows what was going on in the dressing room... http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e358/tis_red/JumpingFergie.gif

Just for balance I've used Kwik Fit many times over the years and always been happy. I have also used local neighbourhood garages and had my car knackered. Broad brushes eh?

  10. Ok Lily, what operating system are you using? (Vista, Windows 7, XP?)
  11. The Horniman's still there and, most importantly, so is the overstuffed walrus.
  12. Is the video camera working in other applications eg msn?
  13. Which version is it? Isn't there some kind of uninstall tool you need? It really is a horrible bit of software imho.

  15. In my quest to encourage Sainsburys' regeneration of the area I today bought a bottle of vodka from the Polish shop (never been in there before) and a nice lunch in the Plough, reading a paper bought in Sainsburys. Thanks Sainsburys!
  16. Universal and instantaneous gritting.

  19. And a fantastic bit on the news now about ungritted pavement featuring sample people who are struggling to walk on the ice. Mostly as far as I can see by walking in smooth leather soled shoes. Jeez, take a bit of responsibility people.

Shame the OP left the thread while not remembering to answer this question, ah well.
  21. I look forward to a Daily Mail front page scandal about millions spent by councils (Labour mostly at a guess) on snow ploughs and salt which stand IDLE!! 363 days a year.

  24. Heard quite an interesting piece on the radio earlier about it not just being a matter of chucking a load of grit out - they take decisions based on what kind of grit, if it's going to rain later and wash it away etc. So yes, more grit would be nice but I kinda trust that 'they' know more about it than me.
