  1. My dog isn't that good at climbing, so I generally have to keep him on the lead and walk along the roads instead.

We don't need every gate opened, leaving the ones open that are used early would be enough, eg after the bread delivery. or when the park workers enter the park, as currently they lock the gate again behind them. Maybe you should talk to the friends of Dulwich Park about organising one or two gates to be opened early enough for hard working council tax payers to have access to a facility that they pay for in their council tax, at a time that is not prejudicial to those in employment.

Mine usually take a new date to one side and give new date 'the talk', which usually includes discussions of broken legs and stuff. Very protective of their old ma, my kids.

It pisses me off!
  6. Most parks have 'Friends of .... Park' organisations who could organise earlier opening times at no cost to the council tax payer. What is really irritating is the fact that 8am opening is too late for most people who work and the closing time of 4:30 pm means that most people who work can't use the park after work either. So in the winter, the people paying for the maintanance of the park, ie working council tax payers, don't get to use it during the week. The main beneficiaries are those who don't work.
  7. Your taste in shoes leaves a lot to be desired, *Bob*!
  8. It's not just motorbikes; cars, buses and vans all sit in the box which then means that cyclists have to go into the crossing where the pedestrians cross. It's dangerous to a cyclist to stay back in the traffic when the lights change, so motor vehicles sitting in the cycle box, encourage light hopping by cyclists. I hate it when cars park in cycle lanes too. Everyone wants cyclists to be punished for cycling on the pavements and light hopping, but when are the police going to enforce the cyclists rights and make it safe enough for us not to jumpup on pavements or go through the lights before they have changed?
  9. I got a cycling jacket from Lidl last week cos my Altura one was falling apart after years of use and it's made from some wierd fabric that keeps you totally warm, even in this horrible weather with just a tee shirt underneath. It's completely windproof and seems waterproof so far. Plus it dries really quickly and only cost about ?15. It's baby blue, but I think the mens ones are in other colours. I love Lidl, they have loads of decent cycling gear, including cycling shoes that you can use with the cleat type pedals. Their lights are a bit rubbish though.
  10. Hi, I have BBW sitting next to me and he is missing the love of the forum, so has asked me to write the following: "I've been following the social 'faux-pas' at the drinks at Boho on Friday and all I can say is what a fuss over nothing. We all know that if I were to grace you all with my presence, that half of you would all have a babysitter to get in touch with or had conveniently left the oven on. Say for instance Louisa was to waft in to the room wearing her Dungarees and and all the Dafodils from Peckham Rye in her basket. How many of you would extend your hand to shake hers? What would happen if Tony was to park his Cortina outside and order everyone a pint of diesel on his slate? Dry tongues all round I imagine. Basically, we all react differently to each other when faced with the flesh and blood people manning the keyboard. Imagine my surprise when Jah Lush didn't force my nose to the back of my head. He bought me a drink instead. He probably expected me to drink it through a straw. Can we all turn the tap off concerning this enormous over spill. Can the whole of east Dulwich, or at least those concerned, go to the window in about five minutes and scream out the said window: "I'm sooorrrryyyy" I'm sure everyone will get the message, sort of. Yes it's me, making a niusance of myself, except this time I've got my very own editor who keeps pestering me not to swear or leave any crap on the floor. Take care you lot. It's a sunny day after all." Ahhh wasn't that sweet??
  11. I thought it had been.
  12. I just want to say that this is not a theoretical topic for many who might be reading this thread. Many people have suffered abuse at the hands of the Cathoilc church and sensitivity to the pain they still feel at the horrors they or people they love, endured should be shown. The full horror will probably never come to light as there were many people who seem to have acted like nazi collaborators, in that they did nothing or even joined in the abuse of people targetted. I understand that people have faith in the Catholic church and that should be respected, but they also need to understand the damage caused to thousands of children by the institution they have faith in. Don't let denial of what happened perpetuate the pain of the abused.
  13. Lol, not tonight, I've got work in the morning!
  14. Group hugs x x x
  15. That's horrible.
  16. I am waiting for a dry day to scoop up my dog's crap and cut the bloody grass. I might just scoop up the crap and cut the grass next spring if it stops raining by then. It's just easier to pick up the poo when it's dry and hard, it's horrible when it's soggy!
  17. My garden has turned into a swamp
  18. against my window It's doing my head in, when is it going to stop raining??
  19. er, wouldn't that be because they lived in the same house?
  20. Well said ClaireC, I can't be arsed arguing with the dog/cycle/pram/other hating posters on here again and again, but it upsets me too, so I'm glad you said what I wished I had the time and energy to say.
  21. Lol, it was a bit of a dozy thing to do really, but I hope her car was ok when they found it.
