  1. Good luck Wildcherry with the places shakedown! You?re right about the local schools. I remember feeling hearteningly positive about most of the ones we looked at. Like you we did space filling rather than risk unknown schools. HP
  2. A couple of years ago for us, but I managed my son?s expectations by making sure he knew the schools on our list were preferences not choices. The online form uses ?preferences?. We talked through the six we listed to make sure he understood that he could end up at any of them, them crossed our fingers and hoped ...
  3. Do u mean that eglomise type aged glass - scuse my spelling. Pricey but I think u can get it as toughened splashback type glass. Looks lovely Ho
  4. Was a 37 bus stopped there for a long time too. Assuming related. HP

Except that perhaps a judgement of the situation needs an objective (ie not in the situation)professional/ the OP has to feel safe / comfortable approaching the family. That is the judgement of the OP.

Think you can see Lewisham?s last year furthest distances on their website. Don?t think there is an equivalent for Southwark. Pretty sure someone -maybe Renata - posted how to get these in last year?s thread.
  7. Seconded Sue. A low blow for sure! HP
  8. There?s one off Walworth Road too
  9. Maybe this is the way to go? Trialling free public transport in some German cities to combat pollution. https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_5a8d5f3ae4b00a30a25117a4
  10. Nope. HP
  11. NSPCC link here giving email and confidential phone line number: https://www.nspcc.org.uk/what-you-can-do/report-abuse/ tel:0808 800 5000 Says ?Don't wait until you're certain if you are worried about a child. We will listen to your concerns, offer advice and support and can take action on your behalf if a child is in danger. You don?t have to tell us who you are if you don?t want to, or you can ask us not to share your name or contact with the police or social services. 12. Personally I would call NSPCC helpline. You can do so anonymously. They have the expertise and sensitivity to deal with situations like this. HP

Re: London Bridge. I feel sorry for anyone with a buggy/wheelchair. Maybe I'll get used to it but to me the walk feels interminable and the new design soulless. HP

There were 'consultaiton' events at which plans were presented near the cafe and adventure playground by well-meaning designers. If there's a lot of tarmac then it doesn't really look much like the project images. See here: http://www.southwark.gov.uk/regeneration/nunhead/revitalise-peckham-rye-park-and-common Hope its not the 'up hill' water play area all over again??? HP (a natural pessimist/cynic depending on your view)
  15. Quite often walk here. Given that its a quiet footpath anyway I cannot really see that changing the lights will make much difference (except as Lee says to make the contrast harsher and stronger and actually probably therefore worse for vision) so agree with Lee that it would be a real shame of the current lights go. Thanks for looking into this Renata - hopefully quickly, although its beginning to look like a fait accompli - for these ones anyway. HP

If flats - like mine- might not have the space if downstairs owns most of garden. Hp
  17. If you?re struggling to decide which you prefer that suggests that either would be ok perhaps. What does your heart tell you would suit your child better? Are you realistically near enough to either/ both? Are you prepared to sit on a waiting list for one if not? Good luck. Hp
  18. But both are important and priorities! Back on message hope the young man attacked is recovering? Hp
  19. Great - glad you've reported it! Hopefully others will too with more information. HP
  20. Why don't you ask your daughter if they're both good or is she part of the 'we' struggling to decide?
  21. If anyone knows who took it -hopefully council - it would be good to know. Hp
  22. Question back. Are you asking as research for somerhing or because you're weighing up the pros and cons for ypur child? Hp
  23. Went yesterday. Clown v funny. Throwing knife act; contortionist; jugglers etc great. Fabulous tumblers/ acrobats; cracking whip lot; Lucius crew motorbikes in wheel etc. etc. Really fun and classy circus stuff! (Although the main reason we go is because my 12-year old loves the budgies!). We had a fantastic time! Thank you Zippos. HP
  24. Ditto! Recent experience of woman telling me my kids shouldnt sit in front 'priority'bus seats in case soneone else needed them despite other priority sests being free and WHILST i was helping an elderly woman onto the bus to one of those seats. She did nothing to help the lady. I cant tell u how pissed off i was. I always ask them to move if seats needed. Just plain rude and frankly none of her bloody business. I am sorry you had that experience. Hopefully you can go for a less stressful meal soon!
  25. Thanks bonaome. Good idea! Much appreciated. Helen
