  1. Christopher eccleston, John pertwee and tom baker all good. Peter capaldi doing his best with the now usual trite dialogue with lots of brooding music to make it seem more meaningful than it actually is. Matt smith and david Tennant pure pantomime sh*the but blame the writers.
  2. I've used both rescue remedy and avena sativa. Might be wishful thinking but both seemed to help. Hp

Personally I don't think buying into a 'catchment' is at all fair and to he frank makes my blood boil - as because of that some other poor kid won't get in.
  5. Why? Schools change a lot over time and different schools suit different kids. There's no way I could have predicted what might suit my son when he was year one. Choices are not choices on the form imoh; just preferences. Did your friend put down six realistic schools? If not might be why got offered a place further away?
  6. They definitely have to do GCSE religious education. I asked how Catholicism impacted on their teaching. They said that they were guided by an overarching ethos e.g. respect etc. Which I guess would be shared by most people. That said the prospectus and website were more overtly catholic ...

  8. Google 'can spiders escape from a hoover' - hhmm -unproven method.

Presumably that's why the OP called to her??? HP (and sometimes a general 'know it all').
  10. Went along this morning. Again - not hordes of people, but enough ... Agree - think its a really lovely school - building, calm, great atmosphere and good relationships/evident respect between staff and pupils. I'm an atheist but we'll definitely be putting this on our list. HP
  11. Hello all, I've been reminded by medusa of the thread so this is a very (year) belated thank you for all your responses. Just after posting last September personal matters meant that I completely forgot about the replies. I'm revisiting and finding it all very helpful - so thank you! HP

  13. HI there moondancer - we're in Solomon's Passage. We have lovely immediate Wandle contacts, backed up, by, as you say, 'vagaries' in delivering repairs/ service and a failure to deliver audited accounts ... every year ... HP
  14. Shaun the barber and his sidekick on Barry Road do a great job. Think its around ?9-10 for a kiddies cut and they always take their time there to get it right ... HP

  16. Sorry admin - realise I posted this in the wrong section. Thanks bawdy-nan. Went to the open day today. Apparently the info's usually in their handout, but it wasn't this time and I forgot to ask at the end... Thanks for info so far. HP
  17. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew more about near which primary schools Kingsdale buses pick up from? Cheers HP
  18. Led lights brilliant idea! What about several locations? Nunhead green! Elsewhere?? Hp

  20. Hi Alienmum - I have an ASD son, but am sending you a PM link to a local group for ASD girls (parents/daughters) which might be worth trying. They're based just across in Lewisham.

  25. I've tried 3 times to sign up online for Southwark's new free swim and gym for the under 18s. Wondered if it's my cack-handedness or if anyone else as had problems? Thanks in advance. HP
