Er - no not really, my fuller statement would have been: 'yes I was enjoying it'.... HP
  2. Yep - agreed! enjoying it. fabfor Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I've also noticed that it's much, much quieter > near Peckham Rye Park. So nice.
  3. Well - you've gotta hope! I find it amazing that there is nothing on Wandle's website about this. The CEO has tweeted that she is looking forward to working with Sadiq Khan to tackle London's housing crisis! Starting in Solomon's Passage wouldn't be a bad idea.
  4. I'm not sure why there hasn't been much response. Perhaps because so little is known ... I am an affected resident, with children at local primary shcool (and one about to go to secondary). I am hoping that behind the scenes perhaps Council, Councillors, Wandle etc. are all talking and trying to find the best way forward for residents. I have so far seen no evidence that this is happening. Very little info has been given to residents so far, about what is, in effect, tearing communities up and creating an unbelievable amount of stress and upheaval for those whom social housing in its various forms was meant to be designed to provide some security for. Perhaps one for the new mayor to cut his teeth on? HP

I know let's make SATS harder!Huzzah!
  6. Wahey! Well done Leicester. Unbelievable. Never thought I'd live to see it. No mardey arse's in that city today!!!
  7. Wahey - GO Leicester!!!!!!
  8. Malleymoo, I remember the consultaiton on the whole of the site vaguely as we used to live on Somerton Road. The plan is to rebuild blocks 42 and 44 so presumably those plans will go back for consultation? H
  9. In response to malleymoo and generally: Don't know about the number 44 as a total of flats - but blocks 42 and 44- the middle two - being demolished. 40 and 46 being refurbished. I find it hard to see how 76 families could all be rehoused locally enough to schools etc. I would have thought that the follow-on impact on the local housing waiting lists is also going to be pretty horrendous. H

Thanks for contacting Renata. Do you live local too then?

  12. Srisky. It had been over 20 years for me lol. I wasn't sure whether the sound or feel would be more important to me until I tried some out. It was pretty clear for me personally it had to feel and respond like an acoustic. Others might not be so bothered and prioritise sound. Horses for courses. Would love to know what u go for if you have time to post.
  13. Are a number of digitals feeling pretty close to the real acoustic thing these days. I say this as a lapsed diploma level player who learnt on an acoustic but now uses a digital. Try out a kawai ca 67 or 97 if u get the chancecalthough they're expensive new but will give u an idea of what's possible these days. A decent digital will probably be better than the equivalent second hand acoustic and cheaper to maintain - tuning etc. These kawais have full sized wooden keys for example and are really responsive. Having said that its a really personal thing. Whatever you do go and play lots of different ones and pick the one that suits you!
  14. Try and get weighted keys if possible. Better playing experience. Kawai, Roland and Yamaha good. Sure others will suggedt other names. Not sure what's in that price range though.
  15. Also Signal (depending on where you're based as they're a Lewisham charity, but seen to take members who're near Lewisham's borders). They're a very active group - meetings; talks, trips, a library of resources etc. See here: http://www.signalonline.org.uk/ HP

Of course there are more important things' but that doesn't make this one unimportant. For me personally, its helpful to rant on a local forum about a local issue.
  18. Hhm - would it be worth it for less Trump??? Tempting...
  19. I think my kids' primary school has got it about right. Its a normal non-faith school. They learn about various faiths and at Christmas the younger ones do a nativity play, the older ones sing at a 'carol' concert (seasonal songs/carols etc)... I'm an aetheist (with very fond memories of celebrations - christmas, Divali being from Leicester etc. at my own school). I personally think its important that children learn about various faiths - the way do to that is to be at an inclusive school, NOT to be ghettoised to varying extents in a faith school. I imagine you are objecting to dog > owners in PRP failing to bag up, rather than the > fact that dogs go in the park? Absolutely : I like dogs ... Dogs need parks... Dogs need to run... Dogs need to poo... Owners need to clean up that poo. Got angry with a woman this morning after school drop off, when she let her dog c**p on the grass verge of a mainroad used by loads of kids. Asked her if she was going to pick it up ... offered her a bag to use. No response. Offered to smear it over her front door to see how she liked cleaning it up (childish). Followed her to shop and told her that people like her were the reason I'd spent an hour yesterday cleaning shoes. She said she'd cleaned another bit up since and would go and do it 'MADAM'... I'm not proud of getting so angry with her and its probably not the right way to get someone to try and see your point of view, but it was a bit raw still with another shoe and some bike wheels to do later.
  21. Whilst we're on Sci Fi, has anyone been to this Book club in central London? http://www.meetup.com/The-Science-Fiction-Book-Club/
  22. Ban all faith schools, all kids to go to their local school. Simples innit!
  23. Well I have three shoes and bikes to clean thanks to the ignorant sh**s who let their dogs poo in Peckham Rye Park. Boy if I could catch them and rub their noses in it(the owners that is) it would make my day! Yes they won't be reading this thread but it sure feels good to rant.
