I can't think of a more 'white-middle-class-ification' than think 'outside the box' - or was it irony? HP
  2. And ... important to remember the idea of a good school is subjective. landsberger is spot on in saying that different schools suit different children - Askes does not suit all for example.
  3. El Presidente Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > oh yeah. much better to have a row of empty shops > covered in graffiti. That really fits with the > area.... No one wants a row of empty shops, but then presumably most don't want a shit development either. If they don't think its shit and like it they can also go onto the application and say so. Wasn't that long ago most of them were occupied along there - until the redevelopment came up - cue hoardings and graffiti.
  4. Done - ugly building, too tall, materials and style incongruous and out of keeping with other surrounding buildings and the area, impinges on local established businesses, extra traffic, deliveries and a carpark near that junction and bus stop ... What's not to love! urgh! HP
  5. news.met.police.uk/news/missing-boy-found-125558?utm_campaign=send_list&utm_medium=email&utm_source=sendgrid Metropolitan police posted tweet that he's been found safe and well.
  6. So is there anyone more ethical delivering the glass bottle variety? Looked at Milk and More a while ago but was a bit put off by the Dairy Crest connection. HP
  7. ADMIN - can this go in a general thread given its importance? One where more people might see it? Boy still missing and appeal from mum and more details here: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/daniel-penasanchez-mother-appeals-for-teenage-son-with-heart-problem-to-come-home-10454763.html

  11. This one's ethical and good. Sell it elsewhere. Works out reasonable if you buy the big tub: http://www.earthfare.co.uk/tropical-forest-fairtrade-organic-forest-honey-clear-340g-3-18kg/p885 HP
  12. I also outgrew the need for a 'Mum' bag so saved up and bought one of these with the lovely Watermeadow material. Leather, canvas etc. Been so well used and still looks lovely! Built to last. Still satchel though, not a rucksack. http://www.burlinghamhall.co.uk/bags.html HP

Fear for Barrys Offie and Shaun the Barbers... Please god something more imaginative emerges. And five stories? Havin' a laugh.... HP
  14. Also interested in seeing how a 'community bakery' could take shape. Good idea! please let me know if you decide to set up a meeting. HP

  16. I've lived in both - old Victorian converted flat - terrible in terms of sound coming from the upstairs flat; now in a 2012 new build - also pretty bad because the vibrations head straight through the wooden structure .... Can you talk to anyone else living there and see how they find it?

I love my flat because its my home! That is its primary function. One of the papers earlier in the week - might have been Tuesday's Metro(?) - was saying why not 'buy one and get one free' as such if you bought properties somewhere cheaper than London. Obscene when so very many can't afford the one ...
  18. Same happens at the little cut-through from Solomon's Passage into Tresco Road area. V dangerous because the council put in an (admittedly a bit crap) metal railing to discorage scooters etc but they still just power through because they can't be arsed to go the long way round down Waveney Ave. The differece being that now that can't see what's coming. And the pathway is just, just wide enough for two people side-by-side. Anyways - don't know why I'm posting here - council would be better place to email. HP

How exactly are the school going to cater for those with sen but no ehc? Visit a number of secondary schools, ask the question, and you will be amazed by the wide range of responses. Some schools, frankly, appear to pay lip service.others, really thought through and suppoetive approaches.
  20. How locals local. We have the lovely Michiko Takahashi?. She's west norwood but comes to teach the kids at our school. Have u looked at the suzuki teachers directory online? I'll send u a link if not.

NOT fairs - you ascribed negative motives and imagined conversation where there wasn't any evidence of it from 'what Millie has written here'. :(
  22. Settling my children. Been roughly every minute but Max 90 seconds and min 30 between maximum plane noise for the last hour that I've been listening. Need to atop listening but sure don't remember there being so many in the past..

But unless Millie is leaving off the end of the conversation she(?) wasn't offered any other suggestion - i.e. go to pharmacy/ ring tomorrow and we'll look at the week ahead etc. etc. Any concrete date or anywhere else to go. Anything which would be perfectly reasonable. Urgent gets seen - of course. But non-urgent probably still needs a GP at some point... maybe tomorrow.. maybe in a week. But not never, never. Or should people just 'live' with symptoms without a proper diagnosis or wait for whatever it is they have to get 'worse'? Believe me I love the NHS and have had reason to be extremely thankful for it on many, many occasions, including lovely staff at DMC, and I am NOT a moaner but giving people no timeframe in which they might be reasonably expected to be wait and be seen is not reasonable or acceptable IMO.
