  1. They said 7.30am not 5.30am and were referring to a single child, not an event (apparently that's "anti-social in the extreme" LOL!)
  2. Nope, 7.30am is def daytime.
  3. Boris again! [pre] [/pre]
  4. Boris on Louise Mensch's resignation: ?I think it?s literature?s gain.? Made me chuckle.

  6. Blimey, that's some going managing to miss the news entirely, and TV in general, for over two weeks, but then catch Daltrey right at the end of the last day by accident! If only you'd held out for a few more hours!
  7. I had major post-Olympics blues yesterday! The Ashes 2005 were good, Euro 96 was great, I wasn't around for the '66 World Cup, so for me the Olympics was the best event to have taken place in the UK in my lifetime!
  8. LOL comparing Rodgers' sides to Barca! Rodgers doesn't change his tactics because he doesn't know how to play any system other than short passing, defensive football. Guardiola didn't change his tactics because he had Messi et al out on the pitch! Rodgers has been extremely lucky to get the Liverpool job given his track record and over-rated achievements. Liverpool don't seem to giving him anything much to spend and his refusal to play a system to the existing players' strengths will be a massive problem. He'll be lucky to survive the season.
  9. And the Olympic Stadium is 10 times better than the Emirates...shame it will probably be wasted on West Ham.
  10. fazer71 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > That's an insane ammount of money for a few roads > and a stadium a copper box and a few temporary > sites. > Err...a bit more than that I think - shops, restaurants, an education campus and nearly 3,000 flats in the Olympic Village, a good chunk of which will now become affordable housing.
  11. Top - very predicable yet again. Winners - Utd, 2nd - City, 3rd - Chelsea, 4th - Arse Going down - loads of candidates here. Swansea, Southmapton, Villa and Wigan will all go into the last game still not safe but West Brom, Reading and Norwich will go down. Surprise package - Fulham!
  12. Nice to hear that MrBen. I took my daughter to her first football at this Olympics. She loved it - great atmosphere, big crowd and 5 goals. Same old Wembley when we were there though - 45 minute queue for food, cash payements only, making a massive queue of people stand and wait until the half time whistle before they served alcohol and (I swear I'm not making this up) the bar on one side of the concourse selling pints for ?4.70 and the bar on the other side selling half pints for ?4.50!
  13. I'm going to get my dad to sign up for this forum - he loves complaining about the Olympics. Come to think of it, he also likes to complain about dog turds, loud music, children and people generally enjoying themselves so he'll have plenty to say after the Olympics is over as well.
  14. We've been to both Peppa Pig World and Peppa Pig Live. The live show is ok, but Peppa Pig World was more fun. It's attached to Paulton's Park (sp?) which was great for us because if you have older kids they can go on all the rides in the main park while the young one(s) can do the Peppa stuff. Like any theme park, I recommend getting there early and, if possible, not going in the school holidays. We know people that have even stayed overnight near the park, but you can get there and back in a day no problem.
  15. I agree AM - being there has been very infectious no matter what sport we've watched and the looks on the kids faces when we revealed that they had tickets for the swimming was priceless!
  16. Great Britain is the team that sends athletes from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland plus the three Crown dependencies (Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey) and all but three of the British overseas territories, to the Olympics (Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Bermuda all have their own National Olympic Committees). There's a long-standing settlement between the British Olympic Association and the Olympic Council of Ireland, which means athletes from Northern Ireland can elect to represent either Great Britain or Ireland because people from Northern Ireland are legally entitled to dual citizenship. Team GB is just a brand name used by The British Olympic Association.
  17. Anyone can access it - there's loads of events still on sale and if you can't afford a ticket, go and watch something for free - cycling, archery, marathon, triathlon, swimming marathon, the walk! Or turn your telly on. Huzzah for the Olympics.
  18. Opening ceremony full dress rehearsal - check Torch through Southwark - check Tickets in hand for for an event every day for the next week for sports I don't know the rules of and have never even watched on telly - check Role on the archery...I can't wait!
  19. You can take an empty plastic bottle in with you and fill it up for free at designated water refill points.
  20. 1. (From the BBC Food site) For those who prefer homemade food or want to save money take note: security at the games is going to be very tight ? the gate policy will be similar to that of an international flight. This means you need to take a few things into account when planning your picnic: ? No liquids over 100ml/3?fl oz allowed (which includes yoghurts and ice packs). ? No alcohol. ? Food must be for personal consumption (wouldn?t recommend one person carrying a picnic for the whole family). ? Only one soft-sided bag allowed per person (of 25 litre capacity or less ? approximately the size of a small rucksack). Crucially, it must be small and flexible enough to squash under your seat in the venue ? so no picnic baskets or cool boxes! ? No glass bottles (except for medication). ? Cutlery should be considered carefully ? make it disposable and, obviously, leave the knives at home. If you?re one of the people who thinks a picnic just isn?t a picnic without a trestle table and deck chairs then you?re probably best passing on this one, but if like me you love the simple pleasures of tasty homemade sandwiches, a hunk of pie and maybe a slice of cake then there?s plenty to be enjoyed without coming a cropper at security. Firstly, a few tip offs. Taking drinks in with you is out of the question, but free water is available from drinking fountains inside the venues and you?re allowed to take an empty plastic bottle with you. Queues are expected and all bags will be thoroughly searched. To make the process as smooth as possible, ensure all your belongings are easy to check and store any food in clear plastic bags or cling film - tin foil is a definite no-no as it?s likely to set off the metal detectors. When it comes to the actual food, think about the perishability of your picnic. You won?t be able to take a cool box with you, unless you have a small freezable cool bag, so any food you take needs to keep well when stored at room temperature (or even warmer if the sun decides to come out of hiding). Ever popular couscous and pasta salads are an obvious choice. And pasties, sausage rolls and pork pies are a real winner being so easily portable and satisfying, no matter what the weather brings 2. Tickets for the Orbit during the games period have sold out, although any returns go back on sale every day on the official tickets site. However, you will still need a ticket either for the Olympic Park or an event at one of the arenas inside the Park in order to get in i.e. if you're lucky enough to get a return, you won't be allowed into the Park with just that ticket.
  21. Loz - do you know where exactly the box office is in relation to Straford tube? I assume it's obvious/sign posted when you get out of the station?
  22. I think you'd be able to collect on the day from the venue, but I whould def try and confirm that. I was trying to pickup before hand to avoid having to get there even earlier on the day. I think the problem I have is, like Applespider says, the only box office open at the moment is in Stratford. All the others open from the day of the first event held at that venue.
  23. AS - yes, I think that's what they were trying to tell me on the phone, although the woman I spoke to wasn't certain and kept having to put me on hold to go and check things someone else. It's just annoying more than anything because the website certainly doesn't make it clear that's the only one open at the moment and the others won't have openned before the event because I purchased tickets for something on the first Saturday morning.
  24. I bought tickets online yesterday. Because of the closeness to the event, they can't now be posted and I have to go and pick them up - fair enough. But the message online specifically stated I could pick them up from any London 2012 box office before the event, so rather than going out to the Olympic Park, I rang them up to ask where the nearest box office is to ED or Central London. It turns out the statement on the website is actually incorrect and I have to go to the Olympic Park to collect them.
  25. Looks like Rogers is picking his tactics before looking at the strengths of the squad. He has been guilty of this before - trying to establish a new way of playing with players who just weren't capable of playing that way. Getting rid of Carroll before he's given him a chance just shows Liverpool will be playing his defensive, short passing game next season.
