New opportunity to save the woods!! Deadline Friday 23rd

What have I got wrong: EVERYTHING The plan is to cut down the woods in the 12 acres and mound over the public graves. WELL ITS NOT, AS HAS PREVIOUSLY BEEN PROVEN Then the Council will sell the plots to unsuspecting families - NOT UNSUSPECTONG, THE GRAVE IS LEASED FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS TO THE FAMILY, THAT IS USUAL PRACTICE who won't have been told they are burying their loved ones over other families dead. DID YOU ASK THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE PLOTS ALONGSIDE WOODVALE, THEY ARE PROBABLY GRATEFUL THEY DO NOT HAVE TO TRAVEL TO BEXLEY (DO YOU KNOW WHERE BEXLEY IS?) And probably won't understand that they don't have the grave in perpetuity. Only 50 years (or 100 for only another ?1350 THE COUNCIL ISSUE DOCUMENTATION THAT CLEARLY SPECIFIES THE TERMS AND COSTS. Then the Council goes after the private graves, which surround the poor people's plots.12 acres of woods for 5 years of burial. AGAIN MORE NONSENSE A wood and heritage and other people's families for five years of burial. IT IS NOT A WOOD, IT IS SERIOUSLY OVERGROWN SCRUB LAND- HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO BE TOLD, OH YOU "DON'T LIKE CHANGE UNLESS IT IS CHANGE YOU AGREE WITH". YOU ACTUALLY SAID THAT ON ONE OF YOUR MANY VIDEOS PLUS SOME OTHER REVOLTING REMARKS. The Council will give the family of the private grave six months notice - posted on a cemetery gate - YES AND THEY ARE ADDITIONALLY CONTACTED BY THE COUNCIL, AGAIN ALL STANDARD PRACTICE. If the family actually receives the notice, the council will offer them terms to keep them buried. "Pay or you kin get dug up" DO YOU CONTINUALLY NEED TO USE SUCH EXPLICIT LANGUAGE, CLEARLY YOU STILL HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING OF DECORUM, RESPECTABILITY, CORRECTNESS, ETIQUETTE OR RESTRAINT.. and then the council digs the person out of the ground, digs the hole deeper, NO THEY DO NOT AND MORE UNACCEPTABLE LANGUAGE then gentle and respectfully dump the remains back in the hole, WRONG and place a new body on top. REMAINS ARE NOT DUMPED IN A HOLE, IT IS RETURNED BACK INTO THE GRAVE, PLUS HEADSTONES WILL NOT BE TOSSED ASIDE. Sold off - sorry, leased off - to some unsuspecting family - YES THAT IS THE WAY IT WORKS, THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE HAD BURIALS ALONG WOODVALE ARE PROBABLY APPRECIATIVE THEY CAN BURY THEIR DECEASED LOCALLY - probably an immigrant family, which Southwark Labour says it cares so deeply about - an immigrant family unfamiliar with 50 year leases and being buried on top of the dead. THAT IS SUCH A LOW COMMENT AND SHOWS YOUR CONTINUED IGNORANCE AND DISRESPECT FOR THE GRACIOUSLY DECEASED. What am not getting here? EVERYTHING Southwark Council is reusing Cemetery Land and selling it off a new. AS IT HAS DONE AS THE CEMETERY REACHES CAPACITY This is what our local Labour councillors have agreed is the right thing. Only Labour supports this. That include the Job-share on Double Wages couple Councillors Victor Mills and her husband Gavin Edwards. They totally support this and don't see how this bad for local people. I BELIEVE YOU ARE ON VERY UNSTEADY GROUND HERE SAYING SUCH THINGS ABOUT COUNCILLORS WHO MAY NOT KNOW YOU ARE SAYING THESE THINGS ABOUT THEM AND UNTIL THEY DO SO, HAVE NO RIGHT TO REPLY. Southwark Council is hurting local people. NO IT IS NOT YOU HAVE STATED YOU DO NOT LIKE CHANGE UNLESS IT IS CHANGE YOU AGREE WITH - WELL GUESS WHAT, NOTHING STAYS THE SAME, CLEARLY YOU HAVE A CHOICE ACCEPT CHANGE OR JOG ON. -
Brenchley Gardens junc with Forest Hill road and up to Honor Oak Road and Honor Oak Park all snarled up with traffic that was rat running on adjoining roads. Roads a lot clearer now, but still a steady stream of traffic

You say you put an injunction into the Church Court yesterday and that they do not want to proceed, oh I wonder why!!!!!!!! If you want to present an injunction you need to do as Sidhue has detailed above, but you won't. The figures and dimensions you state continually change, it's a real shame you cannot be consistent. Your whole approach to this matter has been brash and attention seeking. The council continue to not engage with you because of the approach you have taken to date. I am truely surprised the council have not served an injunction on you for the liable language in your posts on here and in your tweets about the council. Here's hoping their legal people start to take action about the behaviours you have displayed. -

Great service at the Peckham branch, staff are really helpful and you are treated as an individual, not as just another account holder.

Give him his dues, he has not been rude. I do wonder what he and his tribe hope to achieve from the emergency meeting. At this stage surely they recognise that the authorities and elected representatives neither wish to entertain or engage in conversation with him and co. I suspect that this is due to the continued bombardment of erroneous information they push out, in an attempt to get a reaction. As much as they must be wishing he and co would go away, somehow I think they are going to continue with their impersonation of being an annoying wasp. -

No, I did not say I dis-liked them, just think that to get to see a doctor there you have to deal with administrators who unless you do as they say can be very intolerant to patients needs. -

Ask yourself one simple question, what is the purpose of a cemetery? It is to bury the dead. The council have set out an extensive plan that details the history of the cemeteries in the borough, the provision of burials in the short, medium and longer term and looking towards the muddle of the 21st C As you read the strategy, the document clearly shows that re-use has been done in the past The public consultation produced the following results, which is what the council are trying to do. Preferred options 4.2.5 Respondents expressed preference for the various options, in the following order: Re-use of public (common) graves- was considered the most sustainable option with least impact on both the Borough?s open spaces and bereaved relatives. Re-use of private graves. Use of burial chambers/mausolea where maximising the the use of available space. The potential for vandalism and mechanism for ultimate disposal of remains were raised as concerns. Working with other local authorities to source shared land for new cemeteries. A new Southwark burial site outside the borough (not greatly supported, for the reasons of reduced accessibility). Buying of grave space from a private supplier- was not a popular option and considered to be problematic on account of lack of confidence in the sustainability of the service. Stopping burial in Southwark -received very little support and even those preferring cremation were in favour of people having burial as a choice. Use of some or all of Honor Oak Recreation Ground for burials was the least favoured option and the one that attracted the most comment (214 comments were made objecting to the use of the park). A small Southwark Council Cemetery Strategy 048-02/ Southwark Cemetery Strategy 33 25.4.12 number of respondents were favour of using some or all of Honor Oak Recreation Ground for burial. 4.2.6 In respect of re-use options people felt that all efforts would need to be made to contact living family members and that records should be kept of reused graves with alternative memorials to the deceased created. 4.2.7 Interest was expressed in woodland burials, these being thought of as sustainable and environmentally friendly, albeit this may have been considered as appropriate outside the Borough as part of a package of options offered The scrub land in camberwell old cemetery which the main thrust of the objectors protest seems to hang on, was land designated for burial. That was its original purpose. That is why there are graves there, It becoming overgrown is purely down to the council neglecting their responsibilities, however in realising space was running out they are doing what is common sense, and that is to clear the area so new burials can take place. And in other graves where only one burial has taken place to add a new internment on top whilst maintaining the original headstone, -

Firstly, the document that was posted is NOT the Council document that the objectors keep on referring to but is the Technical Guidance on the re-use and reclamation of graves in London Local Authority Cemeteries. Henryb, can you post the Council's document to substantiate your groups claims of digging up 48000 graves. If they are re-interning remains in the same grave only deeper, or are increasing the hight of the existing grave, what is wrong with that. I think the new lawned graves in Camberwell old cemetery look well presented and are far better than it was before. -

Really, so they are going to exhume the deceased's remains, can you post the document that states that. Because if the council started to do anything like that, and as I am sorry to repeat, the residents in the borough would be in revolt, so unless you can prove this in black and white, I have to say I do not believe what you are saying. -

SSW are a bit like quick sand, constantly moving and changing what they say, first it was digging up every grave in both cemeteries at 7.50pm, then at 10.50pm its any grave over 75 years old, can I suggest you have a strategy and stick to it rather than constantly changing your minds. What do you class as "grave stripping"? Your words What to do define as "reclamation"? Your words What do you class as "grave robbing"? Your words What do you class as "grave excavation"? Your words What do you class as "grave exhumation"? Your words What you are actually campaigning for is for the whole of the cemetery to be left to become an overgrown, out of control scrubland, wilderness like Nunhead cemetery? It ain't happening brov, you get me Donald. The council have invested too many resources in bringing camberwell old cemetery back into use to let that happen. What are you going to tell relatives, oh its now a wilderness and they will not be able to tend the graves of their loved ones, Great, you'll be even more unpopular than you are now when you try to propose that. Next and God forbid you'll be saying you want to run the cemetery, hahaha -

dbboy replied to Michaelcb's topic in The Lounge
That is right you can't TELL the council what to do, they are elected officials who run the borough with officers of the council to do the actual work, it is democracy in action. You can put forward a case, you did, they considered the case and decided that no case existed and so it was rejected. You say your campaign is much bigger, great go and speak with Government, you'll get short shrift from them as well, if you disagree with burial, that's fine, but that is how some people wish to say goodbye to and remember their deceased, those remaining have feelings, beliefs, that's not going to change because it has been done like that for centuries and is called religion. If you have no belief that is fine, but you cannot be imposing what you want on others, that is not democracy and could probably be classed as communism. When You lose a dear loved one, then you'll understand the hurt and pain of those left behind, The grave is not only a way of saying goodbye, but remembering the person who died, Try it, cause it hurts like hell. You say every grave in both cemeteries is going to be dug up, sorry that is not going to happen, The boroughs resident's would revolt. Like they did on Peckham Rye Common. And yes, people from outside the borough do buy a grave plot in either of these two cemeteries, because they do not want to go to the other end of the borough (Lewisham) in either Grove Park or Hither Green to bury their dead relatives, but prefer to bury their dead locally, however the costs to do so are prohibitive. The Woodvale side is not ugly, in fact it is a whole lot better than it was. If the works had not been done, then the new entrance would not have been put in place and far fewer people would have walked through as part of the green chain walk. In an earlier post it said that 48000 graves would be mounded over and the way it was expressed was as though it was in the old cemetery, now it is referred to as in the new cemetery, so which is it? The video is evidence of it being overgrown which the council are responsible for neglecting. Had the neglect not have occurred and the land used for what it was intended, BURIALS, none of this would have transpired. The sooner the council get on and do what they need to do the better. And what is the connection between "cemeteries, woods, graves and green space, climate change and health and history and beauty", oh because one person wants it. Their is a saying, the needs of the many out way the needs of the few, you get me bro Donald!!!!!! -

duly edited. Donald and Co ALSO need to appreciate some of the things they say are highly offensive and mis leading, two examples of what I mean; "you don't give a damn about the future (global warming, flooding, rotting dead juices flowing down Forest Hill Road)" Who, exactly, are the people who want to dig up the graves of local people? "Who else out there will stand up for digging people's Grans out the ground - whose families were promised their Gran would RIP forever? Tell me." As much as things are explained to Donald, the scrubland crew continue to ignore this, and which the Council disregarded and ruled against on 6th October. This continues to perpetuate the scrubland campaign, irrespective of anything else . -

You continue to spout and make mis leading, ridiculous, scaremongering statements such as "They want to dig up or mound over EVERY grave in BOTH cemeteries. Even graves that were sold in perpetuity. Every poor persons' grave. And every beautfiful monument to be removed and dumped. Every memory covered over to create fresh earth to sell off. This will be Leader Peter John's gift to London: London's Graveyard. Do you have family buried there? Say goodbye to them again. That is their strategy and it is unprecedented. The LARGEST MASS EXCAVATION in UK HISTORY". The only thing you said so far that is TRUE is "Only they became wild through neglect" On 6/10/15 the council made the decision and in doing so dismissed your arguments. It's over, the work is to begin. Your "you don't give a damn" rant yesterday although very amusing, but not comedic, reminded me of Donald "The Duck" Trump.
