  1. Week 8 points... Week 8 table...
  2. With a skip, if you load it up while the lorry waits, you don't need a permit, I presume the same applies for the Hippo bags, so as you're not getting rid of a lot of waste, could you load it up while the the lorry waits?...
  3. Am I missing something, but does the bag need to be winched in if it's empty when delivered?...
  4. Week 8 fixtures... Saturday 16th October Watford v Liverpool Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers Leicester City v Manchester United Manchester City v Burnley Norwich City v Brighton & Hove Albion Southampton v Leeds United Brentford v Chelsea Sunday 17th October Everton v West Ham United Newcastle United v Tottenham Hotspur Monday 18th October Arsenal v Crystal Palace
  5. You only have to look across the Atlantic to see a 'massive case of collective denial' i.e. Trump, so it's very likely already happening here with Johnson. I guess it's a product of the social media age we live in, the populists are gaming it better than the rest...
  6. With comments like that you can see why the Gov won't have an independent inquiry. I see when it suits, i.e. when someone else would be in the firing line e.g. the Sarah Everard case, they have no qualms about triggering an inquiry pronto...
  7. Fixtures now updated for weeks 8-10...
  8. What Seph said, despite the vaccine our R rate is still around 1. Common sense should tell a tradesperson that at some point they will encounter someone who would prefer them to wear a mask, so keeping one to hand for such an eventuality would be the sensible thing to do...
  9. If people are precautionary thinking of the possibility of going 'off grid' at some point this winter, this is a simple light/heat source hack, lots of variations out there...
  10. Get one of these John... https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/kettles/article/hot-water-dispensers-how-to-buy-the-best-aE1aB3z1blaX#is-a-hot-water-dispenser-quicker-than-a-kettle-and-does-it-use-more-electricity

Kettles use up a huge amount of electricity; Layering is good, several thin layers work better than one thick layer; Quicker showers make a big difference, Thames Water hand out a 3 minute egg timer you can stick on the shower wall. > Heating will be on but low to stop the issues with the house (damp etc). I've read that having the house at a regular temperature > is better than having blasts of central heating for shorter periods - although happy if anyone has a view. Regular temp is indeed much better, that's the job of the thermostat, if your radiators have individual thermostats, turn them down a bit in the less occupied rooms...
  12. The blame game worked for Brexit, so if it ain't broke...Johnson's speech stays on course, full of tubthumping rhetoric minus actual policy. However, I do feel that once things start affecting Joe Public, like the fuel shortage has, then you will see more reaction. Winter of Discontent 2.0 looming...
  13. BBC now reporting on it with info and implications for the consumer... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-58815665
  14. I think Cat is referring to wholesale price, which will eventually filter down to the consumer...
  15. You should be ok leaving internal rooms unheated, but any room with an external wall would benefit from some heating, albeit at a lower temp than the main living spaces, otherwise you could be inviting damp/mould...
  16. I'm guessing they'll update the fixtures during the current two week international break...
  17. Point taken, but in light of, and the closeness, of the SE case, is it really surprising that another woman randomly attacked and murdered drew such attention? Again, without adding context of the male murders you cited, it becomes a pretty pointless exercise...

Angelina Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If the OP can find details of similar crimes > against men / women we can then compare the > reporting of them and understand why they think > there is a disparity This is the main flaw with the OP, a lack of context. One of the reasons the SE case received such a (as the OP put it) 'fanfare' in the news, was not just the nature of the crime but also who carried it out, namely a serving Met police officer, the very people who are supposed to be protecting us. For that reason alone it was always going to create more attention, so I'm not sure why the need to question it...
  19. Week 7 points... Week 7 table...
  20. Just read that Sainsbury's are looking to recruit Christmas seasonal staff, should be worth contacting them directly about local possibilities... https://news.sky.com/story/sainsburys-launches-drive-to-recruit-22-000-temporary-staff-for-christmas-period-12422695 Online deliveries is one of the few sectors that 'did well' during the pandemic so that might be a worthwhile avenue to explore more fully... ETA: Royal Mail is another company that recruits Christmas seasonal workers...
  21. Good luck with the search for work beansprout, a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet with the effects of the pandemic, and with furlogh ending it's about to get a lot worse...
