Its delicious. So you can cook! And now you've more recipes on this thread. No excuse now Poubelle...I don't want to see you eating any more rubbish! I might surprise T at the weekend and make him your mackerel and scrambled egg on toast for breakfast. It sounds just up his street. (Makes a change from yoghurt - eh?);-)

Sri Lankan Fish Curry (Malu Curriya) I am posting this because, once you have obtained all the necessary ingredients, it is such a doddle to prepare. Takes less than half an hour - so don't forget to put your rice on. 2lbs of fish 3 onions thinly sliced (recipe actually says 1 - but I don't think that's enough) 2 tsp. salt (I use only one - personal taste) 2 tsp. chilli powder (I use fresh chillies - far superior flavour) 2 tsp. coriander (I prefer to pound the whole seed rather than use the ready ground stuff - adds intensity to flavour) 1 tsp. cumin (again, I prefer to pound the whole seed...mmmm, the smell) half tsp. turmeric garlic (oddly, recipe doesn't mention this ingredient: as much as you want...I use about 5 cloves) 1 2" piece of cinnamon 2 bay leaves 3 cups coconut milk 1 tbs. lemon juice fresh coriander leaves (strangely, recipe doesn't mention this either...but I love the stuff) Cut fish into small chunks and wash well. Place in saucepan with all the other ingredients except coriander and lemon juice. Stir to blend spices. Start cooking over moderate heat and then simmer (gently) for 15 - 20 mins. Just before serving add the lemon juice and fresh coriander leaves. Serves 4 - 6. SO easy and authentic. Also works well with prawns (the big fat juicy ones) - in which case leave the prawns out till the final few minutes.

Mark does do a "cracking job". ???? Wrote: -------------------------------------------------------- >Maybe Mark should just hand over the keys to those who criticise his forum, >posts and moderation and let them see how they get on. ????, I sincerely hope you are not referring to me here. If you are not then I apologise unreservedly - I feel a little emotionally drained over this "affair". However, if you are, then could I please refer you to something I posted earlier. It is self-explanatory: I think the only mistake that Admin appear to have made here is to basically spoil the lot of us over the years! Most of us, in all probability, now take this Forum for granted - myself included. When we attempt to log onto it, we expect it to be there, functioning without fault with all of its trimmings. If it slows down we complain, if a thread develops a malfunction we express further displeasure, and if a post disappears we throw the toys out of the pram (well I do!) and so on...However, we should in all fairness stop and remind ourselves that this Forum is not a right...we are not entitled to access it as of right, by law, or under some contractual arrangement... ...at the end of the day we should all remember that Admin could shut this forum down if he felt so inclined. And, to be honest, I wouldn't blame him given the hard time he is currently experiencing... *ducks*

Mark Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- HAL, here's one previous occasion where > you've annoyed Mockney Mark, you know that I have the greatest of respect for you and for the service you provide (for free, and out of sheer passion) for us. However, I have to tell you that I am deeply saddened at how you seem to have felt the need to stoop so low as to dig up an old thread. Had anyone else done that I suspect that X would be receiving a barrage of PMs and public posts telling him/her that this was bad form. God this is all so upsetting.

bignumber5 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- That one > of the rapidly progressing forum bullies has > pushed MP to the point of hanging up his spurs > demonstrates to me how bad things have become. I am sorry to bring this back up...but having just read HAL9000's post above, I realise that I had somehow missed this post. Bignumber5, please excuse my boldness, but are you referring to HAL9000 here? If you are not, then I apologise and please read no further. However, if you are I have to say that you are greatly mistaken. A quick search on HAL9000's previous posts will show not only that the majority of his posts are thoughtful, helpful, witty, intelligent, informative, stimulating etc. etc., but that, quite contrary to being a forum bully, he often runs to the assistance of those who are less able to defend themselves. Sure, he has had his run-ins...haven't many of us...yourself and myself included. None of us are perfect, as you once so eloquently put it.
