  1. Not quite in ED, but thought it might affect some forumites. Hubby just phoned. Has been stuck on no. 12 bus for nearly an hour...massive diversion at E&C - apparently Walworth Rd. has been closed off.
  2. ...I love your daughter...NO JESTERING...I KNOW IT'S 10 TO 10...WE GOTTA DO IT AGAIN... EVERY time it's 10 mins to 10 I think of this tune! (Can't remember who the original singer was though) BTW, any of you thinking of going to the EDF drinks on Friday? I am toying with the idea...

(And WHERE in SA exactly, it's a BIG place!?) it was all about tunes, > curry goat and roti urrrrggg (salivating) CUUURRRY GOAT uurrrgggggg (dribbling now) > > PS - don't forget The Heptones Ah yes - the Heptones
  5. AUGUSTUS PABLO...AUGUSTUS PABLO...no-body has mentioned AUGUSTUS PABLO...to my mind he was absolutely UNIQUE with that little mouth organ thingy he used to play...his version of "Too Late to Turn Back Now" STILL sends shivers all over my body when I hear it...that's it, he's going on tomorrow (or later today rather - have just seen the time!). Wow this trip down memory lane has been very therapeutic. Time to hit the sack I think (as opposed to "Hit the Road Jack" - Big Youth!). Goodnight all you 70s reggae lovers (incidentally, don't you think that today's reggae sucks - it has no SOUL, no FEELING, and is rather TUNELESS - in my humble opinion). LM
  6. Jah Lush Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- ribbit! :))Oh my Giddy Aunt, I haven't heard "RIBBIT" in YEARS...takes me back... What about this one: "There are 5,000 versions of dis riddim sir...well thank you Mr. Smiley"...remember it? NO? Too young!

Well, I attended a predominantly "black" secondary school in Croydon...it was a case of "if you can't beat em - join em"...I had NO problem "joining"...and then, a short while after leaving school I went off and married this delicious black man (to the utter horror of my bigoted father!)...best decision of my life! How about YOU - how did YOU get into it? (Every minute detail please!)

"David...you BAD...I man GLAD"...remember that jingle? No? ....you are probably too young then...

Absolutely, I was just about to say the same...I think that the contributions-based JSA (as opposed to means-tested JSA) only lasts for 6 months. Sorry about your situation Declan...my hubby is also in your situation and he is a very sad little bunny at present.:(. Hope you find something soon - BEFORE the pennies run out.

Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > LM, there was a notice in bold red at the top of > the page from yesterday morning warning of a shut > down at 9pm. How much more notice do you need? Oh my goodness, was there really?:-$ The words "blind" and "bat" spring to mind as well as perhaps "thick" and "two planks". Thanks for pointing this out PGC. Sorry Admin. I shall crawl away in embarrassment....
  16. Administrator Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I > would rather close it down than run it > unmoderated. Oh NO! It was BAD enough earlier today with the temporary shutdown - I actually shrieked on the realisation that the Forum was unaccessable (as does Homer Simpson when he finds there's no beer in the fridge, or when his TV breaks down!). Sad - but true. Although I get more than miffed when Admin. delete my sometimes overly blunt or vulgar posts (and there have been a few of those!), I do believe that, all in all, they do a great job. The Forum is a fabulous resource, not to mention an excellent source of entertainment. I've had FAR more laughs off this Forum than from the TV! There are some real characters out there. And I can join in (provided I'm not too crude of course!)! It's wonderful. I, for one, would not like to see it closed down. BTW, I like the new sections - great idea...but next time you decide to shut the Forum down, would you be so kind as to give us prior notice!;-) Thanks. LM

  18. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Pizza Express is OK. Not generally the most > atmospheric places, but the food is normally fine. Yes, that's the point...the food is FINE...not utterly divine or stupendous, just fine;-)

  20. I've heard Emmanuel is reliable/reasonable - he's been recommended a few times on EDF - do a search

  24. Huguenot and annaj, Thanks for that - I had no idea - I'm relatively new to the Forum and thought it was all a bit bizarre. Thread dead.
