  2. Excuse my ignorance, but can anyone shed any light on the apparent "clown fettish" filtering through some of the threads? I just don't get it!

  8. HAL9000 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- I don't think I'd be so quick > to share a similar experience with the forum > again. That's a shame...the beauty of this Forum is that posters are virtually anonymous. This encourages the "no holding back" of HONEST opinions...which is GREAT...the only other time this tends to happen is when people are pissed out of their minds! So you really shouldn't feel so bad about this "experience". Healthy debate with honest opinions you encouraged. It was great (though Domitianus can rant on a bit at times ;-)). In any event, I find your posts interesting ..you also come across as thoughtful and helpful (in my extremely humble opinion). Note to Admin: can you officially close this thread now please!B)

  11. oh silly me...I've just realised that my previous post must look a bit "in the wrong place"...I posted it without looking at pages 2, 3 and 4! Sorry if it looks odd.

Jimi...this is nothing...some people have received FAR worse...it's only a forum and it's all part of the fun...and remember, you can give as good as you get...if you are "innocent" get in there and fight your corner...if you've been a "naughty boy" and been caught out, then learn from it...but don't give up...ED IS nice and so are most of its residents...save a few cliquey tosspots...but I'm sure Hampstead wasn't devoid of those either. As per jaybee82's post, "Welcome to to The Forum Jimi".

ANOTHER HILARIOUS POST on the same thread - this is GREAT! >:D< Keep them coming...cheaper than going to the theatre. Re. ErnestoCHE's post...you are of course entitled to your opinion - but (in my opinion) that WAS a bit harsh. Though I DO agree with your message re. HonaloochieB's comment: "Why don't we all wonder why a Sainsbury trolley collector is driving a BMW?". HonaloochieB: re. that rather snobby comment - SO WHAT! If you resent the fact (are insanely jealous even...and it sounds as though you might be) - then just say so. Oh, and before you ask, I own a bicycle!
  15. ClareC Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Should have laughed at his exposed body part and > given him a complex ;-) Easier said than done when in that situation - especially if on your own. Hope you are OK daizie. LM
  16. Horsebox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Look at me, I'm a cyclist! Ding ding! Out of > my way, lowly pedestrian! Watch me zoom past! THAT is SO funny...:)). Thanks Horsebox for my daily dose of laughter!>:D< And now back on topic...people with disabilities MUST be allowed priority parking at all times.... people with children (on the other hand)... oops, straying off topic again... Back ON topic, Sainsburys used to keep "slips/mini forms" at customers' disposal for anything they wished to say (e.g. for enquiries/special orders/complaints etc) at the CS desk. For us "time constrained" or even "can't be ar***" types, this method of communication could be a more convenient way of complaining...though, as OutofFocus suggests, nothing beats a letter to the manager or head office - except perhaps the CEO (now there's a thought). As for your suggestion Mrs. Y - yes we should BOMBARD them with calls.
  17. Spark57, Unfortunately, this has been going on for years (worse still if you happen to be black...as then they usually don't even bother to stop)...however, assuming they DO stop, the best advice is that given by Peckhamgatecrasher...and if they object, you just quote them the law and the fact that you'll have to take their number...they soon change their mind with some waffle so as not to appear to lose face. And you get a nice quiet ride with no smalltalk! Regarding leaving the meter on after reaching the destination, unless you are going home (or the cashpoint) to GET some cash, then just ask them what you owe them immediately BEFORE disembarking...as they will normally switch their meters off at that point. Too late I know for your latest experience, but try it for next time...never fails me! All the best, LM
  18. Izodia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ladymuck...what exactly were they going to fine > you for? I am not entirely sure...she DID mention that I was not allowed to walk up "that far" (note I don't believe that I walked beyond the sign prohibiting further access)...but I THINK, given her comments on suicide, that she thought I was going to throw myself in front of the train. (ssshhhudder). She was quite aggressive...and, dear Mr. SMBJones, if you are reading this, she was white, about 5' 3", mousy hair, slim, and had an accent (possibly German?). Needless to say, I was relieved when the train arrived.

SMBJones Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hi > > Its unfortunate its an unmanned station, however I > will be asking our undercover task force to attend > the station with the BTP during the morning peaks > and see if we can combat this > > Bare with me and I will get the ball rollling, If anyone thinks that the undercover task force don't exist/attend the station...let me assure/warn everyone that they DO. A while ago, some time after "our Hero Mr. SMBJones" had announced that more benches had been placed on the platforms, along with extra bin rings etc. etc., I found myself taking the train (I usually cycle - hubby is the regular train user and he had told me of the visible improvements). Anyway, I had just missed a train and therefore had plenty of time to play with. I could see immediately that the platform was cleaner and had extra bins/seats...and, given the time I had to spare, I decided to "inspect" by walking along the platform. I was so impressed at how far the benches went that I carried on walking right until the end of the platform and then all the way back again to the other end. I barely had time to reflect on the amount of work that this must have involved when a lady brusquely ushered me aside, flashed some "official looking" badge at me and demanded to see my ticket. After complying with her request, she asked me what I was doing, why I was doing it and that I could be fined ?80 for such behaviour. I explained - rather pathetically - that I was merely admiring Mr. SMBJones' efforts etc. She clearly did not believe me informing me that "they" had been watching me for some time now and that I was acting extremely suspiciously. Well! Me a Lady and all! I got a bit irritated as she didn't seem interested in my explanations but only in telling me off, which culminated in my asking her if she thought I was a thief or a terrorist - to which she replied: "no - just so long as you are not about to commit suicide" - don't behave like that again or it's an ?80 fine". So there you go! "THEY" DO EXIST AND ATTEND! LM

  21. Hi Monica, So, what do we do now? Ie do we just bring stuff (ie plants, seeds etc.) over to you for distribution, or do we deliver it ourselves to a school of our choice? Or do we just wait till you give us the nod?
  22. What a moving thread. Kid, if you DO get to see her again, could you tell us all on the Forum? I just love a good soppy ending.

Hope you had a lovely holiday. I would just like to echo Strawbs' posting...my Oyster (which has weekly travel cards on it - and therefore should work) does not work at Peckham Rye, but does work at e.g. L. Bridge, Waterloo, Charing X etc. Just a mini-challenge for you this time! Kind regards, Ladymuck. PS: MOST thoughtful of you to provide news re. striking tube stations - and helpful! Thank you.
  24. Hi Monica, Just to echo Charliecharlie, you really ARE an asset to ED. Anyway, can't give up any time but I would be pleased to supply the project with some plants and seeds. E.g. I should have some strawberry plants later on in the year. Also, provided I get a good crop of tomatoes, squashes and pumpkins THIS year, I should have a good collection of seeds for these veg for sowing NEXT year. And who knows, I might have other bits and bobs which I would be delighted to donate to such a brilliant cause. Also, I might see if I can cut and paste your posting to our Allotment Society...you never know... I shall pm you my email address so you can give me a nudge from time to time.
  25. I am SO pleased...I was terribly touched when your original posting came up that I actually typed up a response sympathising and wishing his speedy return. But just before I pushed the button to post my message it occurred to me that this might sadden you further - so I did not send it. Anyway, I am quite happy to post now because I am absolutely delighted he is back...only a pet owner can KNOW the distress caused when that pet disappears. (Get him a collar and disk with "his" phone number on it!). All the best. Ladymuck.
