  1. F-uck it! I'm going to go and cook dinner...I've had enough... Sorry for swearing Admin. Thanks all for trying... I'll keep popping back just in case...
  2. Awww b_s, you are lovely for assuming that I might know what you are talking about...alas...Swahili...
  3. LOL Narnia - I had to think about the breadmaker bit... I'm really stressed out at the moment... Thanks for lightening things up x
  4. No b_s, I don't realise anything...I really, really AM dumb with computers...but I am able to minimise the legal doc so the irritations are currently on the EDF...thanks btw x Oh dear... The irony is that hubby is an IT Design Consultant...but he isn't contactable today and isn't going to arrive home till very late... *sigh*
  5. Oh this is SO embarrassing...have pressed the PrtScn button (shared with SysRq - whatever that is) and nothing happens. Have looked at step 2 - and I haven't a clue as to what is meant by "Open an image editing program, such as Microsoft Paint" - paint? may as well be in Swahili! But what would CAUSE these irritations (i.e. the so-called "windows support" page and the green arrow with underscore to light up and for a white question mark in a blue circle to clog my screen?
  6. Thank you H...will attempt this now... *fingers crossed* You are all very kind BTW - thank you...sorry if I appear a bit ungrateful, I'm just panicking...
  7. OK, the large box which is partially obscuring screen is headed (IRONICALLY) "Windows Help and Support", but it doesn't respond to anything...I just get that effing "tinging"...
  8. Huguenot now I'm scared...but thanks Sean...it's a PC...do you mean cut and paste the page containing gibberish? If so...here is the content: sh1t. it won't cut and paste...just makes that irritating "tinging" noise every time I click the mouse. I don't understand your other instructions - sorry:-$. I'm really crap at this computer stuff. And to cap it all, connection maddeningly slow and keeps on disconnecting...thanks BTW *bangs head on wall and screams*
  9. Good idea Narnia but can't do - it's a private legal doc on behalf of a third party. External drive karter?:-S Email to myself? It's 80+ pages long and it's in "star office":-S. Can I just not press something to undo whatever it is I have done? Getting flustered now...
  10. No - I daren't (unless someone can guarantee that I will not lose any work...I am working on a very long document).
  11. Arrrrrggggghhh, the frustration of it...here is a "cut and paste of the precise message I am getting": The connection has timed out The server at www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk is taking too long to respond. * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
  12. Yes, that's what I thought...thank you for getting back Narnia. Problem still here...gggrrrrrrrrrr
  13. Getting worse over here...now not connecting at times...getting a page which says something like "connection to EDF server has timed out..."...Gawd, I'm not having a good day with the PC today...my googlemail is fine though... Any ideas?
  14. Thank you for getting back LG...but T has always told me never to do that:-S Will it do any harm to other stuff? Will I lose work? Sorry to sound ungrateful (I'm not) x
  15. I've obviously pressed something on the keyboard, and I don't know what. The result is that I now have a green arrow light with underscore showing, a large box partially obscuring the screen containing what appears to be gibberish to me, and a box at the bottom of the screen displaying a white question mark in a blue circle. How do I get rid of this rubbish please? I've tried deleting but nothing happens and every time I click on the mouse I get a "ting"...it's getting on my... Help please?:-$
  16. Et moi aussi. Excuse me if this sounds ridiculous (but I really don't know much about technology), BUT, could the bad weather have anything to do with this - you know, cold cables or whatever? Our TV has gone nuts too.:-S
  17. You're just sore because I told you that looked like a hedgehog LOL!

I know this happens a great deal, but why feign interest in someone's well being when in truth you couldn't give a toss? Seems a waste of breath to me. Why not instead ask them something that actually interests you? In countries like Holland, Spain, and Portugal - for example - my experience of someone enquiring "how are you" is that they genuinely wish to know how you are.
  20. Now Katiedigits, would you like an honest, an appropriate, or an expected answer?
  21. felt-tip Wrote ----------------------------------------------------- > I didn't mean what I said. > Just throwing around some O level psychology. It's gracious of you to admit this - thank you. But now, of course, I simply have to ask. What was it that propelled you into making the admission? It wouldn't, by any chance, have been your conscience? :))
  22. That's funny GG. So, when is a porky not a porky?
  23. giggirl Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Lady M - what's happened - give an example. Oh blimey GG...no need to worry...I'm just having one of those deeply pensive moments LOL. And I'm stuck! But take for example felt-tip's example above: > a little white lie never hurt anybody. > > "You look great in that outfit." Well, why say something like that if you don't mean it? Perhaps you want an easy life, perhaps you fear hurting that person's feelings? But surely, if your friend (or whoever) invites honest opinion, then shouldn't you respect that request and give it?

    Complaining

Twirly Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When you complain, what do you expect to get? For the problem to be treated seriously and with respect and to be placed in the same position, as far as that is possible, as you were prior to the problem occurring.
