  3. I'm a ?1 a week Lottery hopeful, myself. But seriously, I remember once reading that gambling was linked to poverty. What I cannot recall is whether it was the fact that someone was poor which made them more likely to turn to the bookies, or rather that people with reasonable incomes became poor as a result of the lure of gambling. *tosses Quids a couple of shillings*

I would be very interested in hearing them. *sits cross-legged facing oak tree, takes a deep breath and...OHHHMMMMMM*
  5. You'll be comparing me with Melanie Phillips next!(6)

On the grounds of traceability, the identification of cyclists/bikes, simplification of insurance claims/police reports, the ability to reunite owners with lost/stolen bikes - just a few ideas. My suggestion was merely hypothetical, but I am flattered that you have chosen to take it as seriously as you have :)).

  11. Problem is, many cyclists aren't aware of some of the rules/laws; not going over the white line when stationary at traffic lights (assuming they have bothered to stop in the first place) is a classic example.

  13. Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I meant from the tax revenue perspective Ladymuck > ;-) Oh well that's alright then... We have a nation of addicted gamblers and are, as a result, costing the NHS a fortune...yes...all is fine and dandy. But the Treasury's coffers are being topped up, so we've got our priorities right. *grits teeth*

  16. I have to agree wth CitizenED, drivers are generally OK. Some cyclists can be pretty idiotic too - it has to be said. And don't get me started on cyclists who jump the red lights - no wonder we don't command a great deal of respect on the roads!

I have also clashed with them... I didn't dare ask Daizie in case I didn't like the answer! Moreover, I didn't want another "clash"! But come now, you must admit, Mr. SMG has grown on us over the months - hasn't he (I mean, we didn't take to him AT ALL at first :)))!. Nice thing about clashing with Mr. SMG is that he always makes up graciously - and that's nice. Endearing, in fact.
