  1. ha, in fact I probably do have some that's almost that age!
  2. used to always pick them at......(!) tbh not sure it's practical to wait for first frost in London, they come so late and the birds seem to make a lot of slow gin too. I pick when "dusty" (bloomed?)and pop them in the freezer for a week or so. got a few bottles dating back 10 year plus sitting there waiting for the right shooting party!!!
  3. there is a collection point by the Plough on Barry Rd
  4. I wonder if there are residents on the closed roads (any of them) who may like the quietness and change to their situation but do also harbour concerns about the impact the changes are having on their local retailers elsewhere? because I do!
  5. To be honest if I was a retailer on Melbourne Grove, after enduring 6 months of hell I would be apoplectic as to the new closures. How Southwark can justify this closure is a disgrace. The barriers could easily be located just pas Callow Locksmiths satisfying the main objective but allowing retailers trade from the main road.
  6. this is an ironic post right? ]Abe_froeman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Those businesses only serve to encourage rat > running anyway and cyclists and pedestrians spend > more money
  7. I was thinking mainly about the pizza place, and their deliveries, and Callow Locksmiths who I imagine have a lot of trade accounts, if you make it more difficult to access, people will go elsewhere
  8. how do the existing Melbourne Grove businesses feel about this proposal, it looks potentially very harmful to them, the more sensible location would surely be at the Charter entrance? Oh well, as they don't have a vote, its irrelevant anyway!
  9. In fairness to James he does respond to emails
  10. Delighted for the club and supporters, although appreciate how divisive the process has been. Let?s work to mend the riftS caused and work to prove the doubters and detractors wrong in a positive way.
  11. Hi Jaca77, where did you see this as the website just says closed during initial re-opening phase? thanks jaca77 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Crystal Palace has just announced that their 50m > pool and the diving pool will be closed until > Spring 2021 while they undertake repair works on > both pools. 12. enjoyed a quick glass of wine outside Rocca this afternoon. Constant flow of traffic, irate drivers hooting, fumes, and general unpleasantness, that was my experience. Still, I anticipate it will improve dramatically in September dulwichfolk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The traffic in dulwich village seems to have > reduced a fair amount. > > Doesn?t this imply the majority of the issues are > school related?
  13. yup, agreed. Thanks Ben for coming on here and answering the varied queries. Fingers crossed for next week savedulwichhamlet Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Knowing Ben quite well, he does not really do > 'grumpy'. > > He has however patiently and diligently answered > all the questions that been asked over and over > again (despite his answers not being accepted by > some) so maybe you are getting 'grumpy' mixed up > with 'exasperated'. > > Thanks for your input Ben. It is appreciated.
  14. Tom - thank you for your comprehensive post, like so many debates at the moment opinions on this seem dramatically polarised. I am firmly in the support camp, but I also sincerely hope that if the development proceeds, securing a long term sustanable future for the club, that the community outreach and other good work the club does will not only continue but expand, to the extent that even ardent opposers of the redevelopment may look back in a few years time and conceded on balance it has had a positive impact.
  15. I thought we were all using electric/hybrid cars? Southwark don?t seem to see them as an alternative?
  16. Whilst disappointed to see the restaurant go, let's not look at this as a bad news story, but as the successful expansion of an already popular retailer. It looks like they have reviewed the business model and are adapting the overall offer to suit the trading environment. Retail needs these positives and innovations, and I wish them nothing but success, along with all of our other independent traders.
  17. a done deal: http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgIssueHistoryHome.aspx?IId=50023147&Opt=0
  18. I currently have 3 items of post (that I'm aware of) that are unaccounted for. It was never great, but......
  19. James, it is not true to state that: "The people most affected are plainly those who live on these three streets, so their perspecive is prioritised. However there is an option on the survey for others to respond with their feedback too" Those living on the three streets will directly "benefit" from the proposed barriers but it is the residents of surrounding streets who will be most affected in a detrimental way. It is not democratic to prioritise one residents view over another. I am most concerned that without a unequivocal undertaking to revert to the status quo (without Southwark subsequently seeking to weasel out of that undertaking) that this is an attempt to railroad residents into a traffic scheme without a full understanding of the consequences and a full consultation.
  20. Looking the comments on the Southwark site most seem entirely driven by self interest ?I?d like my road closed?. Everybody wants their own road closed! I think it is dangerous to do anything (without an undertaking to revert to the pre Covid position). Once whatever the new normal is establishes, then perhaps it will be the time for sensible study (including the unintended consequences of some of the proposals) and a proper consultation.
  21. just been to Sainsburys to pick up a couple of things for tonight. literally have never seen anything like it. feeling harshly penalised for not stocking up.
  22. great caring community idea 'hats off'
  23. just spent 50 minutes getting back from Brixton on the 37. Until there is viable effective and efficient public transport I cannot see anyone giving up their convenience! Sorry, but east west connections from ED are pitiful.
  24. my recollection was that the ?100 shares were non transferable, non dividend payable so probably not. I'll have to check my holding to make sure.
  25. Heard yesterday the rather sad news that this is closing on Sat. Good people who will be missed.
