  1. I can't help but wonder if Southwark hadn't squandered the best part of a million quid on the Dulwich Village junction works, that now seem almost totally redundant, there might be some money to meaningfully research, review and resolve the EDG/LL junction that has been a source of potential accident and residents ire for at least the 20 years that I have lived here. It could be a sensible and long-lasting legacy for any locally elected councillor to leave!
  2. got to say our postie is lovely. Don't see him as much but he's always cheery and has a chat. this issue is not the making of front line staff.
  3. have just re-read your first post on this thread: malumbu Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You probably need a low pedestrian neighbourhood, > with pavement restrictions etc, to deter people > using WR. Are you are seriously suggesting that LTN's should be used to deter customers from patronising local business? There is quite a lot of this chat on Twitter at the min, whereby certain pro factions are aggressively targeting local traders. IMHO this is not constructive nor a good look!

  5. traffic on lordship lane this afternoon - terrible
  6. hypothetically, if I was a delivery driver heading towards DV, what should I do? Will there be a commercial vehicle exemption? Likewise, builders, scaffolders and other tradesmen? For a start, I'd be putting my price up dramatically for anyone in the exclusion zone. What about the pub/restaurants/convenience store/florist/post office etc? Perhaps the village is now an entirely self-sufficient enclave with no need for external trades and services?

  8. so the further Dulwich Village and Carlton Avenue DYL's are to make it easier for residents with off street parking to access their properties? How is this in the spirit of reducing traffic? this administration is woefully out of control
  9. it's fine, we can all go up Barry Road and then round the back streets!!!
  10. ha, in fact I probably do have some that's almost that age!
  11. used to always pick them at......(!) tbh not sure it's practical to wait for first frost in London, they come so late and the birds seem to make a lot of slow gin too. I pick when "dusty" (bloomed?)and pop them in the freezer for a week or so. got a few bottles dating back 10 year plus sitting there waiting for the right shooting party!!!
  12. there is a collection point by the Plough on Barry Rd
  13. I wonder if there are residents on the closed roads (any of them) who may like the quietness and change to their situation but do also harbour concerns about the impact the changes are having on their local retailers elsewhere? because I do!
  14. To be honest if I was a retailer on Melbourne Grove, after enduring 6 months of hell I would be apoplectic as to the new closures. How Southwark can justify this closure is a disgrace. The barriers could easily be located just pas Callow Locksmiths satisfying the main objective but allowing retailers trade from the main road.
  15. this is an ironic post right? ]Abe_froeman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Those businesses only serve to encourage rat > running anyway and cyclists and pedestrians spend > more money
  16. I was thinking mainly about the pizza place, and their deliveries, and Callow Locksmiths who I imagine have a lot of trade accounts, if you make it more difficult to access, people will go elsewhere
  17. how do the existing Melbourne Grove businesses feel about this proposal, it looks potentially very harmful to them, the more sensible location would surely be at the Charter entrance? Oh well, as they don't have a vote, its irrelevant anyway!
  18. In fairness to James he does respond to emails
  19. Delighted for the club and supporters, although appreciate how divisive the process has been. Let?s work to mend the riftS caused and work to prove the doubters and detractors wrong in a positive way.
  20. Hi Jaca77, where did you see this as the website just says closed during initial re-opening phase? thanks jaca77 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Crystal Palace has just announced that their 50m > pool and the diving pool will be closed until > Spring 2021 while they undertake repair works on > both pools. 21. enjoyed a quick glass of wine outside Rocca this afternoon. Constant flow of traffic, irate drivers hooting, fumes, and general unpleasantness, that was my experience. Still, I anticipate it will improve dramatically in September dulwichfolk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The traffic in dulwich village seems to have > reduced a fair amount. > > Doesn?t this imply the majority of the issues are > school related?
  22. yup, agreed. Thanks Ben for coming on here and answering the varied queries. Fingers crossed for next week savedulwichhamlet Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Knowing Ben quite well, he does not really do > 'grumpy'. > > He has however patiently and diligently answered > all the questions that been asked over and over > again (despite his answers not being accepted by > some) so maybe you are getting 'grumpy' mixed up > with 'exasperated'. > > Thanks for your input Ben. It is appreciated.
  23. Tom - thank you for your comprehensive post, like so many debates at the moment opinions on this seem dramatically polarised. I am firmly in the support camp, but I also sincerely hope that if the development proceeds, securing a long term sustanable future for the club, that the community outreach and other good work the club does will not only continue but expand, to the extent that even ardent opposers of the redevelopment may look back in a few years time and conceded on balance it has had a positive impact.
  24. I thought we were all using electric/hybrid cars? Southwark don?t seem to see them as an alternative?
  25. Whilst disappointed to see the restaurant go, let's not look at this as a bad news story, but as the successful expansion of an already popular retailer. It looks like they have reviewed the business model and are adapting the overall offer to suit the trading environment. Retail needs these positives and innovations, and I wish them nothing but success, along with all of our other independent traders.
