  1. When?s it opening? It?s probably the poshest looking Superdrug I?ve seen from the outside. Louisa.
  2. Be grateful anyone has taken the spot in these tough times for the high street. I welcome anyone willing to add footfall. Half the shops appear empty most of the time during the week. Use it or lose it I say. At least a high street chain will attract people to the area and increase footfall for other shops locally, including independents. Louisa.
  3. Donations have been made from around the world. But I agree, it wouldn?t hurt the Catholic Chruch to contribute. They?re hardly cash strapped. Louisa.
  4. I have wanted to visit this beautiful cathedral for years, been to Paris a few times and never felt like joining the long queues. How I wish I had now. It appears we are witnessing some iconic history going up in smoke before our eyes. It makes me so incredibly sad to see this. I hope they can save as much as possible. Louisa.
  5. My favourite walk within reach of London is Westerham in Kent. Home of General Wolfe. Close to Hever Castle and Chartwell, beautiful countryside of he north downs and lots of pubs and cafes along route. Easily accessible by car or bus. I think you can get a train direct from Peckham rye to sevenoaks too. Louisa.

ULEZ follows the same mapped route as the congestion zone. So Vauxhall/Park Lane/ Edgware Road all remain outside the ULEZ and therefore are exempt. Which makes sense when you consider this is the main route from south London up towards the M1 and north. Louisa.
  7. Please everyone just stop this now. Forcing someone to apologise for your own entertainment, when it has been resolved as foxy has said. Very sad. Louisa.
  8. If you look at the Peckham West figures the results are much closer, in fact a slim majority are in favour. Particularly when you take into account the adjustments made for being in favour of neighbouring streets being included in a CPZ. The stress around the station and Peckham West zone are clearly very polarising. It?s not about creating a money making machine for the council, it?s about helping vulnerable and disabled people park closer to their homes during peak hours, and quite clearly a slim majority are in favour in Peckham West. Louisa.

Yes he is. But it does feel like people are ganging up on him for no reason Sue. Louisa.
  10. But as foxy himself has explained, he has resolved any ?issue? there may have been, and it is not relevant to the current discussion about when this restaurant will be opening. Louisa.

Yes I know he is Sue, but you never truly know what someone else is dealing with in their personal life, that?s all I?m saying. Louisa.
  12. I don?t want to involve myself here, but I do think people should cut foxy some slack. He has a lot going on, as he has told everyone on this thread, and has other concerns aside from this forum. Louisa.
  13. I checked and my car is eligible for the ULEZ and the 2021 expansion. As it stands, I don?t use the vehicle as often as I used to, mostly for supermarket runs and days out to Bromley or Bluewater. If and when this new scheme takes hold, I will re-evaluate my car ownership, but won?t be worrying about it until then. As Foxy says above, car drivers are a easy target for local government. It?s a disgrace really, and doesn?t affect people with money, but does cause problems for elderly drivers reliant on shopping trips. Louisa.

  15. If you use smart phone technology many of these cinema chains offer special BOGOF deals via meerkat insurance, two for ?7 at odeon for example as a reward offer, special Tuesday showings for half price. I?ve also noticed some of the VUE cinemas charge 3.99 all day every day, which is a bargain. You can easily find these bargains, but in a neighbourhood like ED where premium chains such as Picturehouse setup shop, they are obviously going to try and charge more for the basic tickets. Louisa.

  17. Londis was a brilliant shop which had been part of the ED landscape since it?s 7/11 days and remained well used until recently. They sold the lottery, the biggest selection of papers and magazines anywhere in the local area, and more importantly were open until late. A rare thing around here. Superdrug does not sell anything that independents, department stores and the likes of Neal?s Yard/Space NK do not already sell, but probably at a slightly cheaper price. It?s a chain, not everyone can afford independent prices, as much as they?d like to be able to support them. Why can?t we just be happy Superdrug has chosen our high street in a time when many high streets are declining rapidly. Louisa.
  18. Superdrug sell a range of various top branded perfumes as well as more affordable ones. Including Creed btw. Not sure why you conclude those same brands are somehow not quality just because they happen to be sold by a high street chain? Hope we aren?t back to the old arguments of being seen to buy stuff from a small independent just so people can see you going in there, regardless of the price? Louisa.
  19. According to the planning application, the new Superdrug store will also contain a ?The Perfume Shop? counter, which is absolutely brilliant news. Lots of quality fragrances, at knock down prices. Louisa.

    Jellied eels

Manzes is brilliant. A great south London success story. Been trading for well over a hundred years. They even sell their pies online. Love pie and mash, not a huge fan of jellied eels though. Louisa.

I know many people who are afraid to leave their home with long term health conditions because they fear feeling faint or worse on long walks, or even essential walks tot he shops and back. I can assure you I?ve used this bench, and this is the sort of thing councils should be spending money on. Thumbs up from me. Louisa.
  23. It?s a great addition. Especially when you are carrying a lot of things and need a rest. Louisa.
  24. I don?t think it?s about changing your mind. I actually think it?s about accepting that the referendum was NOT a ?first last the post?, winner takes all scenario. We need compromise. I also object to some people framing it as old vs young. As though, somehow, a older persons vote is less valid because they are coming towards the end of their life. All of this sort of divisive talk contributes nothing to the discussion. I am older, I voted to leave, and then changed my opinion after the vote. Genuinely. I now realise that remaining would be better, but some 17 million people voted to leave and in a democratic country we should respect that decision, whilst also remembering that the result was very very close. Therefore, a soft Brexit and remaining in a common market scenario with freedom of movement and a customs arrangement is a brilliant compromise to ensure that we try to please as many people as possible. Louisa.
  25. I live not too far from here. No one is suggesting ?having a party? is illegal. But, what a lot of people do, is not inform or even acknowledge new neighbours from day one. Then suddenly believe it is perfectly fine to have a big loud party, and not invite or inform the immediate neighbours. Or even better, buy them a small gift the next day to apologise for any noise. Some people have parties that go on until 4/5 in the morning, and it spills out into the garden or street. Why? Louisa.
